Dip is a fun-loving, affectionate girl who’s ready for her forever home. It won’t take much to make her happy, just the basics.— food and water with an occasional Frosty Paws or Honey Hut run— a comfy place to sleep (your couch will be just fine) — daily exercise to reach her goal of 10,000 steps a day as recommended by the CDC (a kiddie pool is a plus)— a best friend to hang out with and remind her what a good girl she is — a car and chauffeur who doesn’t mind having a 60+ pound lap dog as a passenger!— would prefer a home without cats or kids

Her name may be Frost, but she will warm your heart! This super sweet mama is a goofball with a gentle soul. She can be a little unsure about the world at first, but warms up with a little kindness and shows her loving side. She`s happy to join you for some cuddles, or to make you laugh as she tests out different toys. While she can be playful and silly, but remains nicely attentive to her person and seems eager to please. She loves her treats but is gentle taking them, knows how to sit and seems housebroken. She was social meeting other dogs in play group, preferring those who aren`t too rowdy.Sweet, smart and people-centric Frost is estimated to be around a year old and weighs 47 lbs.Visit www.tinyurl.com/meetacitydog to set up a meet!

Story
My wife and I have had the pleasure of owning Stella for over five years. We adopted her from a shelter when she was a young dog, roughly 6 months - one year. She is the sweetest pup. We planned on Stella staying with us for as long as she walked the earth, raising a family with her. That said, it has proved challenging over the past two years to give her the life she deserves while simultaneously raising a family. We have a two year old daughter and another child on the way. Due to Stella’s size, strength, and speed, we act with significant precaution to have our toddler walking around her. Stella has unintentionally knocked her over numerous times. This forces us to crate Stella often when our daughter is out and about, and we know this will only increase (as will our anxiety) as we bring another young one into the world. This is why we are looking to rehome her. Stella is extremely loyal, loving (she is the biggest snuggler), eager to please, and a lover of people.

Story
Another oldie but goodie is Flash. Flash is an 11-year-old male Staffordshire/bull terrier that weighs 56 pounds. Flash came to the shelter after he was found as a stray and no one claimed him. This boy is total love. He is a good walker and loves to be around everyone soaking up the affection. Flash has a medium energy level. He will pick up toys but doesn’t do much with them. He is a snow bunny at heart. He likes to be outside. The cold weather does not phase him one bit. In his kennel, Flash has a loud bark. He keeps his kennel clean. Compatibility with other dogs, cats and children is unknown. As always, a meet and greet with your resident canine is required. Flash is available for our foster to adopt program which means you can foster him in your home until he has completed all his vetting which includes heartworm testing, and updated vaccines. Flash is already microchipped and neutered. If you are interested in adding this sweet boy to your family, please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and complete an online adoption application to set up an appointment to meet Flash. Flash’s adoption fee is $85. Flash is very low maintenance and only requires a soft bed and love.

Story
This beautiful 2 year old brindle beauty is Violet! Violet is a 2 year old pittie and is full grown at 60 lbs. Violet has such a beautiful soul! She's a very shy girl, but once you spend some time with her and get that first tail wag, your heart will just melt. Violet recently went to the vet and did great at her appointment! It was her first time going to the vet ever, because in her past life she was used for breeding and never got medical done. Violet was quiet and stoic getting all of her shots and even her heartworm test done which was negative. Good job, Violet! Violet recently moved into a foster home where is is doing great! She is learning all of the good things about living in a loving home for the first time. She can't wait to find a forever family who will give her the happy ever after that she deserves. Story
Who is my BEST dog available...? Depends what you mean by "best". If I had to choose though, it would be Betsy Ross. Hands down. Betsy is our second longest resident (Tilly being the longest) who also came from South Carolina pending euthanization. She's our pack leader in our home and her role here is to help keep other dogs in order. Betsy gives solid corrections, though, still need to be monitored as not all dogs respond well. If there's another dog in the home that likes to play "Chief", I will not let them socialize or have limited contact depending on a few things. For example, they can only be inside the house together. Not outside. I've had a few of those. Has a very low-key personality where I could be doing 20 million things that day, and she'll be quietly nearby - being patient. Betsy is forgiving and very loyal. Other people could be petting her but she'll keep her eyes on me like; "They might be petting me, but you're still my number one." Perhaps it could be a little off putting for some adopters since they want her attention, but you could earn this perfect, loyal pooch all for yourself. While she might not be overly affectionate, Betsy gives big smiles and tap dances everytime you come home. It's the greatest thing to come home to because you truly feel missed and appreciated. She's middle-aged but not ready for retirement and does enjoy walks while being good with the leash. But, she's perfectly content just staying home, too. This makes her very flexible for many levels of activity in homes. Her training is great. She's a great listener, goes in her crate when asked or when she knows it's time (meals), doesn't destroy the house, and keeps potty outside. If I have to correct her, she responds well. Think her only true downfall is she gets overstimulated with going outside and the overdrive makes her reactive to certain things. But, inside, she couldn't care less. So, with that, listening isn't as strong but we communicate with touch and she does well with that. Like helping her snap back to reality. Overall, Betsy is a super easy dog where it's kind of like when you want a furry companion minus half the work. You'll still have to make sure you establish boundaries ESPECIALLY if you have other animals in the home. Make sure she knows who's leader in the home and don't let her take over because that's when dogs start becoming a menace. Do I think Betsy could turn problematic? Yes. Like most dogs in an unstructured home. But, Betsy is pretty easy going and compliant. She isn't a rebel... except when she isn't ready to get up in the morning. It's like dragging dead weight off a bed. Betsy is due to retire as our pack leader and would love to see her go into a good home soon. She's flexible with the environment. Perhaps a retired person, or someone with kids. Other dogs in the home are fine but would do best with laid-back companions. Slow introductions are a MUST. She needs about 3 -days with new dogs which is not uncommon. All dogs should be introduced slowly. We have entered a partnership with Franklin County Dog Shelter to help reduce their euthanization rates. Preston is one of those dogs in need who will be running out of time soon. Please understand we do our best to keep these posts updated. If you have any questions, please reach out. For more information on these kinds of posts, please scroll down to the bottom. Out-Of-State adoption available - Coming Back Home Rescue provides transportation for approved adopters. Critical = Dogs most likely to be posted for euth next. Urgent = Dogs who may have more time before being posted. Next round of dogs posted for euthanization at FCDS begins 12/27. His final day of life has NOT been scheduled YET but has been placed on their Urgent List. A date will be scheduled within a week at the earliest or by the end of the month at the latest. Time is still of the essence. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our job is to post dogs in need from partnered shelters, vet potential homes, pull dogs from the Franklin County Dog to get them off death row and transport them to their forever homes. This is the process we have been using for over 3 years and do our best to assist potential homes. However, it is not a process for everyone. If you are interested in meeting Gilbert, please visit the Franklin County Dog Shelter in Columbus, OH. For a more traditional process, we have a lot of great dogs available for adoption through Coming Back Home Rescue. All of our dogs through Coming Back Home Rescue are eligible for greet and meets, and Foster to Adopt trials. ALTERNATIVE for TRADITIONAL PROCESS: Betsy - Staffy/Female/5YO - Trained/Laid-Back Available Directly through CBHR -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Preston 3 Years Old 58 Pounds Here is what FCDS had to say about Preston; Bio – Preston is available for rescue due to high FAS concerns. He was picked up and came to the shelter with a healed scar on his back. He can be jumpy for attention and is overall a higher energy dog. On 12/04 he was observed kennel surfing, panting, and pacing so he was started on anxiolytics. He was able to be moved to a real life room as well which seems to have helped a little with his high FAS level. He spent some time in an office with staff on 12/24. He really enjoyed playing with toys (tennis balls and stuffed squeaky toys) but did need monitored and they had to be taken away because he was chewing on them. When out for a walk Preston was jumpy for attention and tried grabbing the leash several times but was very easy to redirect. He was tested with a female dog on 11/13. Preston was amped, heavily pulling, tense body, and slightly piloerect. He was muzzled prior to being allowed in the yard. He was pushy but didn’t show any aggression. He was tested with another female dog on 11/16. He showed the same behaviors as before and we had him muzzled like before as well. The muzzle was removed and he was kept on leash. Preston sniffed the other dog and kept licking her back end. CBHR Feedback; - This dog is suffering from kennel syndrome which is the mental decline of a dog in a particular environment. Once the dog is removed from the environment, dogs often make a 180 in their behaviors for the better. - Homes must provide slow introductions for other animals. Preston may not be well socialized to other animals and doesn't know how to introduce himself. - Preston will need basic training.
