Story
Who is my BEST dog available...? Depends what you mean by "best". If I had to choose though, it would be Betsy Ross. Hands down. Betsy is our second longest resident (Tilly being the longest) who also came from South Carolina pending euthanization. She's our pack leader in our home and her role here is to help keep other dogs in order. Betsy gives solid corrections, though, still need to be monitored as not all dogs respond well. If there's another dog in the home that likes to play "Chief", I will not let them socialize or have limited contact depending on a few things. For example, they can only be inside the house together. Not outside. I've had a few of those. Has a very low-key personality where I could be doing 20 million things that day, and she'll be quietly nearby - being patient. Betsy is forgiving and very loyal. Other people could be petting her but she'll keep her eyes on me like; "They might be petting me, but you're still my number one." Perhaps it could be a little off putting for some adopters since they want her attention, but you could earn this perfect, loyal pooch all for yourself. While she might not be overly affectionate, Betsy gives big smiles and tap dances everytime you come home. It's the greatest thing to come home to because you truly feel missed and appreciated. She's middle-aged but not ready for retirement and does enjoy walks while being good with the leash. But, she's perfectly content just staying home, too. This makes her very flexible for many levels of activity in homes. Her training is great. She's a great listener, goes in her crate when asked or when she knows it's time (meals), doesn't destroy the house, and keeps potty outside. If I have to correct her, she responds well. Think her only true downfall is she gets overstimulated with going outside and the overdrive makes her reactive to certain things. But, inside, she couldn't care less. So, with that, listening isn't as strong but we communicate with touch and she does well with that. Like helping her snap back to reality. Overall, Betsy is a super easy dog where it's kind of like when you want a furry companion minus half the work. You'll still have to make sure you establish boundaries ESPECIALLY if you have other animals in the home. Make sure she knows who's leader in the home and don't let her take over because that's when dogs start becoming a menace. Do I think Betsy could turn problematic? Yes. Like most dogs in an unstructured home. But, Betsy is pretty easy going and compliant. She isn't a rebel... except when she isn't ready to get up in the morning. It's like dragging dead weight off a bed. Betsy is due to retire as our pack leader and would love to see her go into a good home soon. She's flexible with the environment. Perhaps a retired person, or someone with kids. Other dogs in the home are fine but would do best with laid-back companions. Slow introductions are a MUST. She needs about 3 -days with new dogs which is not uncommon. All dogs should be introduced slowly. We have entered a partnership with Franklin County Dog Shelter to help reduce their euthanization rates. Preston is one of those dogs in need who will be running out of time soon. Please understand we do our best to keep these posts updated. If you have any questions, please reach out. For more information on these kinds of posts, please scroll down to the bottom. Out-Of-State adoption available - Coming Back Home Rescue provides transportation for approved adopters. Critical = Dogs most likely to be posted for euth next. Urgent = Dogs who may have more time before being posted. Next round of dogs posted for euthanization at FCDS begins 12/27. His final day of life has NOT been scheduled YET but has been placed on their Urgent List. A date will be scheduled within a week at the earliest or by the end of the month at the latest. Time is still of the essence. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our job is to post dogs in need from partnered shelters, vet potential homes, pull dogs from the Franklin County Dog to get them off death row and transport them to their forever homes. This is the process we have been using for over 3 years and do our best to assist potential homes. However, it is not a process for everyone. If you are interested in meeting Gilbert, please visit the Franklin County Dog Shelter in Columbus, OH. For a more traditional process, we have a lot of great dogs available for adoption through Coming Back Home Rescue. All of our dogs through Coming Back Home Rescue are eligible for greet and meets, and Foster to Adopt trials. ALTERNATIVE for TRADITIONAL PROCESS: Betsy - Staffy/Female/5YO - Trained/Laid-Back Available Directly through CBHR -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Preston 3 Years Old 58 Pounds Here is what FCDS had to say about Preston; Bio – Preston is available for rescue due to high FAS concerns. He was picked up and came to the shelter with a healed scar on his back. He can be jumpy for attention and is overall a higher energy dog. On 12/04 he was observed kennel surfing, panting, and pacing so he was started on anxiolytics. He was able to be moved to a real life room as well which seems to have helped a little with his high FAS level. He spent some time in an office with staff on 12/24. He really enjoyed playing with toys (tennis balls and stuffed squeaky toys) but did need monitored and they had to be taken away because he was chewing on them. When out for a walk Preston was jumpy for attention and tried grabbing the leash several times but was very easy to redirect. He was tested with a female dog on 11/13. Preston was amped, heavily pulling, tense body, and slightly piloerect. He was muzzled prior to being allowed in the yard. He was pushy but didn’t show any aggression. He was tested with another female dog on 11/16. He showed the same behaviors as before and we had him muzzled like before as well. The muzzle was removed and he was kept on leash. Preston sniffed the other dog and kept licking her back end. CBHR Feedback; - This dog is suffering from kennel syndrome which is the mental decline of a dog in a particular environment. Once the dog is removed from the environment, dogs often make a 180 in their behaviors for the better. - Homes must provide slow introductions for other animals. Preston may not be well socialized to other animals and doesn't know how to introduce himself. - Preston will need basic training. Story
Allow us to introduce you to Norris. This charming fella came to us some time ago as a stray. Initially timid, Norris has come a long way since then, now reveling in playful activities. With a toy, a yard, or even a baby pool, Norris is the happiest boy when he is enjoying swimming and playtime. His play style might involve a bit of vocalization, but it's all in the spirit of fun. As far as Norris is concerned…there is never enough toys! After his energetic bursts, Norris finds joy in stretching out and lounging. He adores nestling his nose under your arm for head rubs and sitting snugly between your legs. At around 2 years old, he's a leash-walking pro, making him a great companion for an active lifestyle. He will need an active household. While he's tolerant with other dogs, we believe he'd thrive best as the sole pet in the household. We do think he would thrive with someone who has a bit of experience with owning dogs. He would thrive with someone who knows how to lead him to be the best boy. Due to his exuberant nature, we recommend a home without young children and a securely fenced yard for this lively boy. This sweetheart just needs his very own forevermore. Is that with you? If you are interested in Norris, send us a message to set up a potential meet and greet!

Story
Marnie has been in our care for 2 1/2 years now – making her our longest resident. While she has been in a foster home off and on over the last 2 years, she really needs a home of her own. Despite her sweet nature and playful spirit, Marnie has been continuously overlooked by potential adopters. Within the shelter's confines, Marnie's demeanor is one of fear and anxiety, a stark contrast to the vibrant spirit she embodies when outside. The open space allows her to revel in the joy of running through the yard. Currently in foster care, Marnie is finally experiencing the love and care she deserves. Marnie currently resides with a female dog and 2 cats. Her foster dad frequently takes her to the dog park, providing her with socialization and playtime that she cherishes. However, at this time we are recommending that Marnie go to a home with no other dogs. While Marnie may require some time to warm up to new faces, her affection knows no bounds once trust is established. Known for her penchant for giving kisses (I mean, look at that tongue!), Marnie is a devoted companion who craves human connection. However, due to her exuberant energy levels, households with small children may not be the best match for her. A fenced-in yard is essential for Marnie to release her boundless energy. Once Marnie has released her energy, she transforms into the most affectionate cuddle buddy, cherishing moments of closeness with her beloved humans. Let's spread the word and help Marnie find her forever home filled with warmth and understanding. Message us on Facebook or email us at euclidpetpals2@yahoo.com to schedule a meet and greet. All household members, including any dogs living in the home, must be present for the meet and greet!

Story
Hey there, fabulous humans! It's your gal, Bernadette, but you can call me Bern or even Freckles – I've got more nicknames than treats in a jar, and I love 'em all, especially when they come with compliments about my stunning looks. So, here's the scoop: I strutted into this shelter a few moons ago after being found at a local park. The guess is I was dumped there, but hey, no hard feelings – I'm ready for a fresh start! Now, let me tell you, when I first landed here, I was a bundle of nerves. Can you blame me? New place, new faces, but thanks to some awesome volunteers, I improve everyday. They discovered my love for a sprawling yard, I definitely need a fenced in yard, because this gal needs space to run, zoom around, and soak up the glorious sunshine. Snow, you say? Bring it on! I've got a feeling I'll be a snowflake-catching extraordinaire. Sure, I'm on the high-energy side, and yeah, I might flex those muscles a bit, but give me a few minutes, and I remember my leash manners. I'm thinking an active, young-at-heart household (no super young children) is my jam – you know, where the adventures never stop. Now, I do have a tiny confession: I'm a bit picky with my canine companions, so I'm dreaming of a forever home where I'm the solo pet, soaking up all the love. I'm 2-3 years young, and I've got a lot to learn, but I'm a quick study. I need someone who speaks dog and can help me polish my manners. Once the zoomies are out of my system, I transform into a cuddle connoisseur. Picture this: me snuggled up next to you, enjoying the cozy vibes, maybe with a peanut butter licky mat in paw – perfection! I'm ready to ditch the shelter life and move into my own fabulous forever home. Are you the awesome human who'll make my dreams come true? Let's make it happen! If you are interested in Bernadette, send us a message!

Story
Update - Thyme received his final heartworm injections this week. He will need about a month of quiet time while the medicine does its job. Like all dogs, he will need to be kept on monthly heartworm preventative the rest of his life, but will live a normal life now!! This adorable, affectionate, loving, silly, playful, snuggly boy wants nothing more than to have a home to call his own. He is so friendly, likes to lean in and loves a good booty scratch too. He walks very nicely on a leash and well just needs a new family who won't let him down again. He is already neutered and up to date on his vaccines and believed to be 5 to 7 yrs of age and a Bulldog Mix. From his previous foster before he came back for HW treatment "He's such a great dog. He gives kisses, will speak and give paw for treats too. Thyme's a great snuggler and loves sleeping in bed with us. He sits by the front door when he wants to go out and if he is ignored he comes over and taps me with his paw." He did live with other dogs in his foster home but a meet and greet with your furry family members is suggested. His adoption fee is $120.00 cash only. Please stop by the shelter to meet him or give us a call to talk about his needs. 440-286-8135.
