Story
You may recognize this handsome fellow from when he went viral last week! 😱 Clause was found as a stray and was being cared for by a local shelter. This boy does best in a home without other animals, and as a result was struggling to find a foster or adopter. He was running out of time. 😞 For days we (and many other organizations) shared his handsome face, pleading for someone to foster him. Time kept ticking, and we only had hours. 😰 Thanks to our amazing community, Clause got hundreds of shares across Facebook. Additionally, we were lucky enough to connect with Sweet Buffalo which allowed thousands more local animals lovers to see our cry for help. 🙏 With less than an hour to spare we finally found a family willing to foster our boy. They were willing to drive all the way from Buffalo to save our sweet Clause! It was our very own holiday miracle! 🎄♥️ Now, our boy is finally enjoying the life he has always deserved. After a little more pampering, and an appointment with our vet, Clause will be on the hunt for his forever home!

Story
*EXPERIENCED ADOPTERS* Meet Biggie! Biggie is a very special boy who has had a rough past and is looking for an extra special person to enter his life. ***Warning: Biggie’s story does include heartbreaking and graphic descriptions. In December of 2022 someone called to report a large stray dog. Due to the size of the pup, the organization who received the call sent not one, but two, men to "rescue" him. Both men used large catch poles to simultaneously choke and drag the pup into their transport vehicle. The restraints were so tightly wrapped around his neck that his eyes became bloodshot. Once inside the vehicle, he was brought to a veterinary facility for holding. While you'd think that's where the horrors ended, it was only the beginning. The room where he was placed after being brought in from the streets is where he sat, isolated and terrified, for over 30 days. A majority of Staff were afraid to handle him due to his size, instead they herded him around with a large bed. Unfortunately, this only scared him more. The only happiness this poor guy had was the occasional "Biggie Bag" from Wendy's that was snuck to him. This lifestyle wasn't sustainable, and that was apparent. In January of this year, staff reached out to us for help. After hearing this guy's story we couldn't say no. He came to our facility and after feasting on hamburgers and french fries for the past month, the only name that seemed fitting for our man was "Biggie". Our poor guy had a really rough start. After experiencing so much trauma, Biggie was a very terrified dog. Things such as sudden movements and loud noises really scared him. Slowly, Biggie began trusting a few members of our team. It started with feeding him cheese whiz and treats through a gate and gradually grew to taking him on walks and field trips. We learned Biggie loved ponds and running water. For the first time, we got to see him relax and truly enjoy being a dog. Over the past month, the progress we have seen is nothing short of remarkable. Biggie is comfortable with the majority of our team and even a few volunteers. He is playing with stuffies, rolling over for belly rubs, and even giving kisses! He really is our miracle boy. Now, almost 9 months after he was found alone and abandoned, we are proud to announce Biggie is available for adoption. Due to his size and background, he will need an experienced adopter without young children. Biggie has done well with other dogs, although they would need to be introduced during this process. We know this sounds intimidating, but after months with Biggie Boy, we think he is going to make an amazing dog. He just needs to find his place. If you would like to have a meet with our special boy, please contact us.

Rufus is a 6 year old mixed breed who was brought in as a stray. Rufus came to us with some medical issues with his eyes that have 100% improved! Some of Rufus’ favorite things are playing fetch and tug of war! Although he may not be a youngster anymore, he still plays like a puppy when it involves toys! Rufus is crate trained, and is currently working on learning “sit” and “drop”! Rufus loves hanging out in the backyard. You’ll find him exploring and picking up sticks! Rufus loves his people and will be your shadow! Rufus does well with other dogs, and would prefer an adult only home!! Please email us if you’d like to set up a meet with Rufus! He’s been waiting a long time! petstophererescue@gmail.com

Story
Gracie is an approximately 1 year old American Staffordshire Terrier mix. She is roughly 50lbs. She has come around since she first came in. She has lived with cats before and seems to be happy to see other dogs. We aren’t sure if she’s been around children. At this point she would probably do best in a quiet, patient home to help boost her socialization. If you’d like to meet Gracie, please call Livingston County Dog Control @585-243-6740, please leave a detailed message if no answer and we will call you back as soon as possible, thank you!

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Say Hi to Charlie! He was found locally as a stray and not claimed by owners.    Charlie is food motivated and loves all people.  Charlie met an eight year old girl and was very appropriate - takes treats so gently! He's gentle and mellow. Charlie loves to run around outside, play with toys, and roll in the grass. Charlie also loves to give high fives! Charlie is not crate trained, but he does not need to be. He will sleep, relax, or play with his toys while you’re away. He prefers to be with his humans while they’re home. He loves to sleep on the couch or lay in the sun. Charlie is house broken and will go to the door and bark when he needs to go out.  Charlie currently would do best as the only pet in the home.  He is searching for a foster home, or better yet, his furever! Story
Bubbles is an adult female Boxer Mix She is a stray who came in very underweight and depressed. Just during her short time with us, her “bubbly” personality has come alive! She is a sweet and playful girl who needs a little TLC. Bubbles will be spayed prior to adoption. This Path to Home group starts 11/14/24 for 8 weeks. Volunteers For Animals and Orleans Correctional Facility have developed a Dog Training & Fostering Program within the prison that will provide socialization and basic obedience training for the dogs before being adopted. Volunteers For Animals will be pulling dogs from high kill shelters and locally who may be in need of behavioral support to become more adoptable. The dogs will then be transported to Orleans Correctional Facility where they will live with selected inmates who will care for them 24 hours per day for approximately 8 weeks. Each dog will have a crate, bedding, leash, collar, training treats, and food provided by Volunteers For Animals. A certified dog trainer will provide weekly training classes for the dogs and the inmates. The inmates will then work daily to reinforce the formal training with the dogs. Adoption Procedures The adoption process includes an application that is completed by the potential owner. If there are multiple applications on the same animal, the animal will go to the best home for that particular animal - not necessarily the first application. Fees for the Path Home animals are $200 per animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. All of the dogs are current on vaccines, heart worm tested and spayed/neutered. If you would like to be considered for any of the Path to Home dogs, please email us. Please do not call the Shelter regarding Path Home animals - they do not have any information. Email us at info@vol4animals.org regarding this program.  Here is the adoption process:   To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $60 fee for any animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier.   Thank you for considering a homeless animal.November 10, 2024, 2:23 pm
