She is a sensitive soul who can be nervous around new people and new surroundings, she needs a confident owner who will help her overcome her fears and set expectations for her so that she can rely on structure to help with her nerves. Legend is potty trained and walks great on a leash and knows all of her basic commands. She gets along well with calm, respectful dogs, who will give her time to warm up. She does need slower intros with new dogs as she will be nervous at first. Legend would do best in a home with no small children, but is not aggressive towards kids, the loud noises and fast movements just make her nervous and she would be most comfortable in an adult only home or possibly teenage age kids rather than young children. Meet Oreo! He is approximately 2 years old and 50lbs. Oreo's a smart boy that is picking up training well and can sit and spin with a great love of treat reinforcement. Oreo is eager to please us and is a funny guy for sure, despite a rough start he is trusting and loving. Also-he is extra special with a few additional toebeans on his back legs! Play time: He is an energetic boy who loves to go out on a leash and loves exploring. Oreo loves playing with his foster siblings but would likely be best in a home with patient female dogs and older kids as he is still learning the indoor life. He likes toys and bones but prefers smaller toys because a few of his teeth missing on the top. Forever Home: Oreo is crate trained and sleeps mostly through the night but needs some reassurance that his foster family is there. He has mastered housetraining. Oreo has an appt scheduled with the vet for a cracked tooth, and Lucky13 will work with the adopter if they want him to join their family before this work is done. Oreo loves to play, but is a lover of a good snuggle and takes the best naps. His ability to curl up into a donut is the best! He has done well with meeting new friends but has not been cat tested. Neumann's love is as big as his noggin...and that's BIG! Neumann is a little spoiled, he loves to cuddle under the blanket, loves to wear clothes, and loves to be with people! He has lived with dogs of all sizes, and loves everyone he meets! He found himself homeless when his person died, and can’t wait to be back in a home snuggling under the blankets agai this year. He is such a well behaved and sweet dog…he is a staff favorite…just don’t tell the others! All dogs are spayed or neutered, microchipped, Heartworm tested (6 months and above,) and current on vaccinations and preventions prior to adoption. At the time of adoption all dogs are signed up with a unique Safe Paws QR pet ID tag, the adopter is required to maintain a monthly membership of $2.99/month for (at minimum) the first year. This helps insure your new furry family member makes his way back to you if lost. Leashes and collars are also required at the time of adoption. You are welcome to bring your own, or we have plenty to choose from at the shelter as well. If the pet you fall in love with is not quite ready for adoption, we do offer a $50 hold deposit that will insure you have first "dibs on adoption. Once an animal is available for adoption, we are not able to hold them, as there are so many animals waiting to come into our program. Our shelter is located at 10312 East 63rd Street in Raytown, MO. We are open to meet pets Tuesday through Friday from 10-6, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10-5. We are closed on Mondays. Skye is a pure bred American Staffordshire Terrier. Also known as a Blue Nose. She was born March 23, 2023. She was rescued due to abandonment at a house in Warrensburg, Missouri. She is extremely docile and calm. Very loving to all humans. Follows commands and has moderate energy unless you choose to rough house with her. Loves to cuddle and receive gentle kisses on her face. Loves truck rides! She does well with other animals but can be aggressive with the play which is typical for the breed. She weighs a healthy 60 pounds, spayed, chipped, and is up to date on vaccinations plus influenza. Skye needs a loving family to take care of her. She needs a backyard to play in as she is very playful.
