Meet Valerie: The Lap-Loving, Low-Rider Potato! Introducing Valerie, a 5-year-old, 50lb bundle of love with the cutest 6-inch legs you've ever seen. This delightful "potato" is ready to roll right into your heart and home. Valerie may be low to the ground, but she's high in spirit and full of affection! What Makes Valerie Special? Valerie is the epitome of friendliness, with a heart as big as her personality. She adores both dogs and people, though her manners in asking for affection are as subtle as a sledgehammer—expect this lovebug to plop herself right onto your lap without much invitation! She’s crate trained and mostly potty trained, managing her household duties like the lady she is. Lifestyle and Loves: Though Valerie is low energy, she enjoys her short walks a few times a day—perfect for stretching those adorable legs and sniffing the world around her. She's relatively quiet but isn't shy about telling you when she needs a little extra something, be it a snack or some snuggle time. Toys and playtime with other dogs were once foreign concepts to her, but now she’s an enthusiast, diving into games and toy adventures with giddy abandon. Ideal Home for Valerie: Valerie dreams of a home where she can be the star of the show. A perfect setting would be one where the humans outnumber the dogs, giving her all the attention and belly rubs she desires. She’s a carefree spirit whose ideal day includes lots of love, a few leisurely walks, and endless belly rubs. Why Adopt Valerie? If you’re looking for a carefree companion to light up your life, Valerie is your girl. Her foster calls her a total doll, and it’s easy to see why. With Valerie, you’re not just adopting a pet; you’re bringing home a bundle of joy who will make every day a little brighter. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home and we want our adopters to be prepared for that! Ready to give Valerie the loving audience she deserves? She’s waiting to show you just how much happiness a low-rider potato can bring. APPLY on our WEBSITE: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt Rebeldogsdetroit.com/becomeafoster

Meet Lola: The Hippo-Pittie with a Heart Full of Love! Introducing Lola, an adult female gray pit bull with an adorable resemblance to a gentle hippo. Lola’s gorgeous coat and loving eyes are just the beginning of her many wonderful qualities. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion, Lola is the perfect match. What Makes Lola Special? Lola is the epitome of friendliness and playfulness. Her love for human companionship shines through every interaction. She thrives on being close to her people, whether you're lounging at home or exploring the neighborhood on a walk. Always curious, she's fascinated by whatever you're doing, making her a delightful living companion. A Perfect Walking Partner: Lola loves her walks and is excellent on a leash, always staying by your side, ready to keep pace with whatever adventure you choose. Her intelligence and eagerness to please make her a joy to spend time with outdoors. Ideal Home for Lola: Lola would thrive in a quiet home with older children and adults who can provide the calm environment she prefers. While she adores her human friends, she can be selective with other dogs. Lola would do best as the only pet or with a very slow introduction to larger dogs if already present in the household. Her ideal family will understand her needs and be committed to continuing her socialization and training. Lola’s Big Heart: Above all, Lola is a huge lover girl. She offers endless affection and loyalty and dreams of finding a forever human to call her own. She has so much love to give and is just waiting for the right person to share her heart with. Why Adopt Lola? Adopting Lola means not just giving a home to a dog in need but gaining a devoted friend who will enrich your life with joy, loyalty, and love. She’s ready to be your steadfast companion, offering comfort and warmth every day. Ready to welcome Lola into your life? She’s ready to fill your home with love and gentle companionship. Story
Humphrey has a long story to tell, its one of sadness, fame, heartbreak, strength, courage, and hopefully it ends with nothing but love. One fateful day Humphrey shows up on a porch with a super heavy chain around his neck and cautiously invites himself inside, the video of which went semi-viral on Instagram. He is fostered by the home owners and begins to trust them and all people- but horrifically is shot in the face by their neighbor while standing on the sidewalk one day. Traumatized and with a fresh jaw fracture repair surgery he is urgently moved to another foster home for his own protection. In his new foster home he is treated with medical care, patience, time, and most importantly love. Flash forward to today- his physical wounds have healed but he still is healing his emotional scars. Humphrey loves ALL dogs - but is nervous of ALL humans at first. Makes sense, right? Humphrey is now scared of the dark, has a phobia of loud sudden noises and frequently stalls out on the leash. BUT he is potty trained, sweet and attentive once you gain his trust. Humphrey is a great versatile player, and can live with small and big dogs of all temperaments. He likes to be chased and loves to play with dog puzzles. Do you and your dogs want to meet this big squishmallow? Are you willing to be patient and keep working with Humphrey to feel safer in the world while celebrating all of the wonderful traits he already has? If so please consider opening your heart and home to this traumatized boy, we are confident you will learn so much about life and love from the relationship you will build with him. When we work to undo the pain our species inflict on animals, we need to first address OUR expectations. What is fair to expect of traumatized animals? Instead of having high expectations of the dog- is it better to open our hearts and expect to have to learn and grow along with the dog? Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home. Nipsey has now learned all he needs to learn in his foster home and is ready to meet his forever family! This boy has a beautiful, tender personality - on the shy and clingy side! It takes Nipsey a little bit of time to acclimate to new people and places - but he is getting more curious with each new exposure. As you can tell from his cropped ears - he suffered significant neglect in his puppyhood. Nipsey needs to live with another dog! He enjoys affectionate people who spend a lot of time at home, or like to take him on car rides. Story
Turtle Freeze A16019654 lb. neutered male, approx 1 yr oldThis handsome smoosh face is my buddy “turt”🐢Goofy boy who loves rope toys, balls, bones…really he makes anything into self entertainment. 🐢He has very typical puppy energy and loves the water, destroying tennis balls, and stuffies! His favorite thing to play with is a golf ball. He will throw it around and roll around with it, and when he's done he will bury it.🐢Turt is crate trained, and has learned that his crate is a good place to be when he learns you are coming back, and he always keeps it clean🐢 Turt loves his walks and is pretty good on his harness. This boy loves the water! You could find yourself with an unexpected shower guest, if you aren’t careful🤣🤣🐢He gets along very well with his foster sister however his play style is kinda rowdy…she doesn’t mind cause hers is too🤪. He could do well with a fur sibling his size with similar energy.🐢 Turt is equal parts independent and snuggly. He loves to sit and watch out a window or lay in the grass.🐢 He gives the softest little kisses and likes to snuggle up and sleep at the food of the bed.🐢 Cookie is his favorite word and will sit and take it very gentlyIf Turtle sounds like your next adventure buddy, he would love to meet you!If you are interested in meeting Turtle Freeze, please email adopt@friendsofdacc.org with subject line “Turtle Freeze A160196”

We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Story
Meet Comet! Here is a bit about him, in his own words… or woofs… -I LOVE toys but not small ones, bones to chew and I get the zoomies all the time. -I’m very loving, I’m learning how to cuddle and love to lay on the couch with a bone. -I think I would like a doggy friend but also could be happy as an only dog. -I’ve been neutered and got a clean bill of health from the vet as well. -I would love someone who would work with me on learning better leash skills and manners training. Comet was a shelter pull at risk of euthanasia due to space and the time he had been there. We were able to get him full vaccinated, neutered, and even allergy tested. He’s been doing great on the specific allergy friendly food he is on. We are thankful we could give him the chance at a forever life by bringing him to our rescue and helping him on his journey to finding a family! If Comet sounds like he could be a match, please fill out an application on our website.

Meet Reba! This sweet girl was unfortunately dealt a tough start to life where she was chained in the backyard and neglected to a point where her collar had to be surgically removed from her neck. The sweet lady has made incredible strides in her life since then and we know the right family will leave all her bad memories in the past and fill up her future with only love. We’ve made up a list for what this special girl would like in a forever home: -An active home with lots of walks and time to play ball. -I am crate trained but it’s not my favorite place so I would love to sleep in bed and cuddle on the couch with you. -Older kids would be best since I can be a little hyper I might knock a little one down. -She is open to having a doggy sibling but no cats If interested in applying for Reba, please fill out an application on our website. This animal is being fostered in the South but transport to a location near you is included in your adoption fee. We use Rescue Riders Pet Transport, (www.rescueridersllc.net), the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Meet the President of the Ittie Bittie Pittie Committee, East TN Chapter - Spring Roll!! 😍 This petite girl was picked up by another one of our other dog’s foster parents (even though they are already completely full at their home) because they couldn’t bear to see her abandoned. We offered to help if they were able to continue to foster, even short term, and they said yes! Spring Roll was producing milk when she was picked up so we believe she recently had puppies but they were nowhere to be found. Witnesses say they saw someone dump her out of a car 😭 How can people be so cruel?!? So far, Spring Roll has been a perfect little lady in her foster home and has done well with the 4 year old human she met as well as 3 other dogs in the foster home. She will be ready to go home after she is spayed. Website: WoofWoofFosters.org

Story
Citrus was living alone in an abandoned house with no doors or windows. We trapped her, and she got very upset. Citrus was growling for many many days, and did not allow any handling. She finally came around to trust us, and is now a loving sweetheart. Citrus wants an understanding foster-to-adopt home, who wants to baby her. She is estimated to be 2-4 years old, and a mix between English Bulldog and Boxer. Citrus has a classic cautious and disapproving yet personable English Bulldog personality, and the silly play style of a Boxer. We are looking for a household without children for Citrus. Leashed walks are fine, she does not require a fenced in yard. Citrus has dog friends at the shelter - but incorporating her into a home dynamic with other dogs will take weeks. If you are up for it, we can discuss. We cover all needed vet care. The adoption fee is $275. Please apply through our website: rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt
