Story
Meet Mortimer (aka Morty)! Morty is a 5-year-old, large mix breed with a striking white coat adorned with black spots and expressive, gentle brown eyes. This sweet, calm guy is as lovable as he is handsome. Though he’s a bit of a big guy, Morty has a soft and easy-going nature that will melt your heart. He’s well-mannered and knows several commands, including "sit," "stay," "come," "down," "wait," and "fetch." If you’ve got treats on hand, he’s all ears—Morty is very food motivated, which makes him easy to train and redirect if needed. He’s also a toy enthusiast and loves playing with both people and on his own. Whether it’s a squeaky ball or a tug toy, Morty is always up for a fun game! Morty is a curious dog when it comes to other animals. He’s not overly excited or pushy with dogs, and he’s shown mild interest in cats with a laid-back attitude. He can pull a bit on the leash, but with a slip lead and nose loop, he walks like a dream, especially when there’s a treat involved. Though he’s calm in his kennel and enjoys napping on his bed, Morty would thrive in a home with older children due to his size and tendency to jump when excited. He’s potty-trained and has kept his kennel clean, proving he’s a smart and reliable companion. Morty came to us from the Brownstown Animal Shelter and is ready for his forever family. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal, and playful pup who’ll be your new best friend, Morty is your guy! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet Mortimer please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care he has received. **Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Story
Henry came to us as a stray, and while we can’t be sure about his past, we know one thing for sure – he is an absolute sweetheart who will steal your heart in an instant! Despite facing some health challenges, including skin issues and some dental problems that required a few teeth to be pulled, Henry has made a full recovery and is now in great health, ready to start his new chapter with a loving family. He’s been through a lot, but his calm and gentle nature remains unchanged. Henry is a polite, easygoing boy. He greets people with a soft expression and a wagging tail – no jumping, just pure sweetness. He waits patiently for his food and treats, always the perfect gentleman. Henry is a “go with the flow” kind of guy who doesn’t fuss much and is happy to simply enjoy life. This charming boy loves exploring the outdoors, especially running around in the grass and sniffing out all the interesting smells. Tennis balls are another favorite pastime of his – he loves to chew on them and carry them around. When indoors you can find Henry curled up on a couch or a dog bed- snoozing the day away. He is a big snuggle bug too! When you're down on his level, he loves to come up and nuzzle his face into you. All he wants is to be hugged and loved on by his people. Henry would make the perfect rainy day couch buddy! We believe that in a loving, supportive home, Henry’s gentle personality will continue to shine. He’d be happiest in a home with older children, a nice yard to roam and play in, and a moderate activity level. A daily walk and some playtime will keep him content and healthy. If you’re looking for a low-key, affectionate companion who will give you unconditional love, Henry is your guy. He’s ready to settle down and be the loyal friend you’ve been waiting for! Are you ready to bring Henry home? Come meet this sweet boy and see just how wonderful life with him could be! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet Henry, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. Story
Meet Ziggy, a handsome gentleman with a heart of gold! This sweet soul is looking for a loving home where he can relax, enjoy some quality yard time, and go on slow, leisurely walks. Ziggy is an excellent walker when he’s wearing his harness, and he loves meeting new people—he’s a huge snuggle bug who craves affection from everyone he meets. Ziggy’s ideal home would include a comfy couch for napping and people who can spend lots of time with him, as he does experience some anxiety when left alone. He’d be a perfect fit for a home with older, respectful children and no other dogs, as he prefers to be the only pet. Ziggy was surrendered by his previous owner due to some tough times, and now he’s hoping for a fresh start with a family who will love him unconditionally. Ziggy is fully potty trained and knows basic commands like "sit" and "paw." If you’re looking for a loving companion who will fill your home with warmth and cuddles, Ziggy could be the perfect match for you! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to meet Ziggy, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. Story
Meet Dakota, he is 7 years old, 70 lb handsome fella! He is bit shy, but so loving and laid back. He is up to date on vaccinations, neutered and microchipped. He loves being around his humans, loves going for walks and does great on a leash! He likes to curl up beside you on the couch and get all the belly rubs he can. He's ready for a nap anytime you are, and even when you're not. He's great around bigger kids, but hasn’t met any little ones. He is potty trained and is great when left alone unsupervised. He has previously lived with other dogs and done well and currently lives with a bunny in his foster home. He would likely do well with smaller animals with slow introductions. Dakota is loving his foster home but oh so wishes for his forever home before the holidays. Could that be with you?

Story
She’s Sassy. Silly and Affectionate. Meet Chickpea - a small Fawn TriColored English Bulldog She was a breeder mama dog, protective and bossy. She’s done with boys dogs and dogs in general but is curious and will smell then try to dominate if allowed. She’d like a human to treat her like a princess and let her snore all day and give belly rubs, butt scratches. She is crate trained and follows routines well. She does not clue to when she needs to potty (likely a result of being an outdoor breeder dog). Due to her lack of house training and humping behavior - she would benefit from a breed experienced owner. She does not currently exhibit any allergies or medical needs. Compact size and now a healthy weight of 40 lbs. Vet guessed her to be just 4 years old, her teeth are white and no signs of aging. Heartworm treated and on prevention, vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Hoping to be in her new home by the Holidays. Chickpea could be a city girl, live in a condo or apartment - go on leashed walks for exercise, sleep in a crate to stay out of trouble and enjoy patio time with humans OR live in a home with kids and a yard - her size and love of people make her a great family dog. Chickpea does jump up to give hugs since she's short and got little legs - she gives kisses. FOSTERED IN TEXAS *Adoption Fee includes fee on transport to PNW, Midwest or NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT states by pet transport partners. Canadian Adopters must meet transport in Bellingham, Washington.
