Story
Coya is a rescue. They had named her Sequoia at the shelter, so we shortened it. I adopted her in the fall of 2019 when she was about 1 and a half years old. She loves people, cuddling, walks, chewing her chewy toys, and playing outside. She wags her tail at strangers and wants to be friends. She loves going to the vet because there are new people there and new friends to be made. She is smart and very trainable if you have treats. Coya has been having trouble with the arrival of our new baby and all the new things going on in our house. I would be happy to provide further details about Coya to make sure she will be a good fit for you and your home.

Story
Delilah is a 3.5yr old Pitweenie that I have owned since she was a puppy. Unfortunately due to changes in my living arrangements, I will no longer be able to give her the home she needs and deserves. She is an extremely loyal and loving girl who enjoys a good belly rub. Her temperament can be slightly fearful/reactive towards unknown situations and unfamiliar faces but we have been working on her confidence and she has made great improvements! Similar to a sour patch kid, first she's sour then she's sweet :) She has been to obedience training (Louisville Dog Wizard) and is comfortable with being crated.

Story
Khan is a 5 year old American Bully. We adopted him at 10 weeks. He is housetrained, crate trained and knows basic commands but needs further training. He doesn't know his own space and will run through you so not recommended for family with young children or seniors unless you get him trained to not step on your feet and to respect your space. He loves attention and would sit in your lap if he could. I believe he has seasonal allergies and an egg allergy for which I give him benadryl. He broke out in a rash one spring/summer and the vet thought it was seasonal allergies. I was feeding him eggs from our chickens/ducks at the same time so I eliminated eggs from his diet. He is about 60 lbs and is not neutered. We also travel a lot and he does not like traveling in his crate away from the rest of the family so we medicate him.

Story
Meet Mercy! Mercy is a Staffie mix about 2 to 3 years old! Mercy still has puppy energy and loves to run, so a fence is ideal, unless you can give her lots of exercise! Mercy seems to do okay with other dogs, but slow introductions are a must. Mercy would respond well to training! If you would like to give Mercy a forever home, fill out an application at www.barktownrescue.org. MERCY'S ADOPTION FEE IS $170The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in.  Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!    November 4, 2024, 9:21 am
