Story
Dog selective. Belle is in need of a new foster home as a member of the house has become very ill. Belle does not chew on shoes though she does like to carry them around when she gets excited. Belle was born in our care on April 1st 2017 to Momma Orla. She and her siblings were named after Beauty and the Beast characters. She and her "sister" didn't get along so the family felt she would be better with a new family. She did great with her two Chihuahua siblings, and may do well with a male dog. She loves to give kisses and plays hard on toys. One of her favorite past times is to bird watch. Cats and kids are unknown at this time. She is currently in boarding and we need her out!Thank you for your interest in adopting a pet from Guardians of the Green Mile Inc. We are a group of individuals that have come together to save the lives of animals that are in danger of being euthanized. We raise funds to fully vet the animals and to provide them with a stable home until they are adopted. All of the dogs in our Rescue are in Foster homes while they are looking for their forever family. The only time we put a dog in boarding is for a Foster to go on vacation if another Foster is not able to care for them. We appreciate your taking the time to fill out the application to adopt one of our Guardians of the Green Mile pets. The questions that we ask are to only find the right fit for all of our dogs and the families that will be adopting them. Adoption donation is $300.00 for dogs over 1 year old and $350 with a $50.00 spay / neuter deposit for puppies/dogs under 1 year old. Story
Who is looking for a Gentle Giant in a compact body? At 55lbs, Bruce is the perfect "small" sized large dog. Bruce was a stray that turned up at someone's house and a neighbor took him in trying to find his family. Sadly no one has stepped forward for this boy. He is a very sweet boy who is very cautious of noises, barks, cars etc. He is learning to sit on command and is working on his leash manners. He hasn't shown any aggression and is generally a slow easy-going guy. He enjoys laying down with his foster family and being petted. He likes to run down the deck stairs into the backyard, around to the other side, and back up. When he runs around in the yard, he lopes around playfully, which he didn't do 2 weeks ago! He is starting to open up for us. We are still learning about Bruce as he begins to come out of his shell, but his foster dad says, "I can see signs of a great dog!" Bruce is available through Guardians of the Green Mile (www.gotgm.org) of Portage, IN. Story
Meet Leroy! He's a 1.5-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix looking for his forever home. His humorous personality is sure to keep you laughing for the years to come! He is playful and high-spirited making him the perfect companion for an active household. He typically walks well on a leash, so he would love to go for lots of walks with his future family. Leroy has done well with other dogs, so he may love to have a fursibling in his future home! Leroy tends to keep a clean kennel here which gives us the impression that he is at least somewhat house-trained. He is still young and could benefit from some additional training in his future home. This guy can't wait to show you what a great addition to your family he would make!

Story
Calling all Boxer dog fans! One of our amazing volunteers was curious about Nala's breeds, so she ordered a DNA test...we now know that Nala is: 53.4% Boxer + 27.2% American Bully + 19.4% American Pit Bull Terrier! Talk about three amazing breeds combined to make one 100% good girl! And, oh yeah! Her adoption fee is sponsored to an approved applicant! She is always so wiggly. You would've never guessed she came to us starving and scared. Let's not forget that she has the BEST smile and she is always cheesing so hard that she squints! She is so very sweet and is always so excited to come out and play! We like to describe Nala as an independent gal but also very loyal to people. She would do fine as the only dog but also has done well with other playful pups. Nala has done well with kiddos about 8ish and up. She loves car rides and is always looking out the window. She's such a sweetheart. Nala's ideal family would be one where she can join them for daily walks. She would also love to play fetch with tennis balls because that makes her so happy! She is the best fetcher ever! She also loves sniffing through snufflemats. Nala is a treat-motivated gal! Oh, and another amazing thing about her is that she takes treats so gently. She is about six and a half years old and is spayed.
