Vinny was completely vetted on 10/31/22 and is microchipped. He needs to be the only pet as he is not good with other dogs and cats. He weighed 60 lbs. at the time of vetting. He came to us from an abusive situation where he was starved. He is friendly with adults but probably not good with kids. Story
Hey there, I'm Zeus, and let me tell you, I'm quite the social butterfly! When I first arrived at the shelter, I greeted everyone with a wagging tail and a big smile-I just love making new friends. I get so close to those friends that when I'm left all alone I get very anxious. I'll do anything I can to get to be with people, and in the past my separation anxiety has led me to breaking doors and jumping fences. I have cleared a 6 foot fence in the past with no issues. This is something that can be managed in a few ways, be it a home where people are there often, special training, and maybe some anxiety meds. We can work though this anxiety together. When it comes to other dogs I really prefer to be with female dogs. In the past, I had a run-in with a male dog who hopped their fence to attack me. Ever since then I've been a bit wary of my fellow male canines. But don't worry, I get along just fine with the ladies! When it comes to kids, though, I'm as gentle as can be. I absolutely adore children, and I've been called a big softy when it comes to them. I might be a goofball and a bit of a couch potato, but I'm also a big old baby who's not too fond of the vacuum-I'll take refuge on the couch until the noise stops! Oh, and did I mention how much I love water? Yep, you heard that right-I'm not afraid to get wet, and I'll happily play with the garden hose for hours on end. And when it comes to commands, I'm pretty smart-I know how to sit, lay down, stay, move, and come here. Although, I must admit, I've also figured out how to get into those tempting trash bags from time to time! In my last home, I was loved very much, and I was incredibly close to my owner. I even have the unique experience of knowing what a power chair is, and let me tell you, I'm not scared of them one bit. But with my tendency to escape, I'll need a secure home with someone who can retrieve me if I manage to get out. So if you're looking for a loyal and loving companion who's ready to overcome some obstacles and shower you with affection, then look no further. I'm Zeus, and I'm ready to be your faithful friend for life!

Story
Hey there, I'm Gib, and I'm on the lookout for my forever home! Let me give you a little peek into my world. First things first, I've got a bit of a bark to me - I just like to make my presence known! When it comes to toys, I'm all about the stuffed animals with squeakers! They are so attention getting and fun to play with! Now, when we're out for walks, I can't help but get excited when I see those pesky squirrels. I feel sort of the same with cats. I shouldn't live with cats or other small animals, they really just aren't for me. I'll be honest, I do like my personal space, so I'd prefer to be around older kids who understand that. I especially am not comfortable with kids right in my face and can be a little grabby taking treats or toys and may scare them without meaning to as well. Personal bubble aside, I'd love to be wherever my people are. I'm a loyal shotgun rider too! I love feeling the wind in my fur as we cruise along. As for potty training, I'm still getting the hang of it, but I'm a smart pup. I'll paw at the door when nature calls, so you'll know when I need to go out. Now, when it comes to strangers, I may not be the most welcoming at first. But once I get to know you, I'm fiercely loyal and protective. I'll always have your back! When you have friends or family over go very slow with them and me so I can learn they are a part of the pack! So if you're looking for a loyal companion who's full of energy and ready for adventures, then look no further! I'm here, waiting for someone special to give me the love and care I deserve. Are you the one for me?

Story
Nova is a 5 month old American Pit Bull Terrier mix. (AKA a land seal) Nova was pulled as a small puppy from a local rural shelter by our board president. When found, Nova was covered in fleas and had been a victim of neglect. Since knowing love, Nova has made great strides in house-training, only having a few accidents if her foster mom miss her potty cues. She goes to the door when she needs out. Nova is a smart girl, picking up on basic commands so quickly, and already knows sit! Her foster family are currently working on "shake" & "stay" . Nova has grown-up around a very busy toddler & another adult dog, and loves playing! Like all puppies, she is actively working on learning boundaries. Like all of the young and the restless (not the soap opera-- we're talking puppies!), she has a lot of energy that requires exercise! She does best when she’s busy, but once she tires herself out, she will be the snuggliest girl. Nova is available for PRE-ADOPTION, and will be available once her spay is completed at the end of the month. Please send your inquiries to acerescuegroup@gmail.com

Story
Brad Pitt!    DOB: 9/2019     Weight: 45-50lbs   Good old Brad Pitt still waits in the shelter kennels for his furever home! Brad was originally in foster where we discovered he is house trained. He doesn’t like being crated though, and will protest by peeing all over it, so leaving him in a room with toys while gone is preferred. He has a fair amount of energy and needs regular walks and playtime throughout the week. No food or toy aggression. He knows how to sit and will take handouts nicely. He walks well on the leash and loves rolling in dirt, leaves, and fresh cut grass whenever he can. He will soak up any attention you’ll offer. Brad does need to be an only dog and he’s not the biggest fan of cats either. Kids 12+ are recommended too. He’s a sweet, loving guy, but gets carried away with loving on you. Sometimes he gets so happy and excited that he doesn’t want you to stop and will grab at your shoes. Just needs to learn when enough is enough.  His adoption fee is $175. That helps us to cover worming, vaccines, spay/neuter, heart worm test, and microchip. We offer a 2-3 week trial. If for some reason it does not work out, you’ll be refunded $100 of your fee. If interested in adopting him please fill out an application on our NEW website. https://www.newliferescues.org . If you have issues, send us a message through our Facebook. Came to the shelter 3/2021. ***YOU MUST FILL OUT AN APPLICATION BEFORE WE DO ANY MEET AND GREETS. QUESTIONS? Story
Chico!    DOB: 10/2019    Weight: 65lbs   He looks older, but shocker, he’s only about 4 years old! Chico is a chunky, bouncy, loving dude. He’s well mannered and loves attention. Will try to crawl right up on your lap if you let him. He’s house trained and keeps a clean kennel. He loves his people and will be right up your butt if he knows you have food. He doesn’t care for cats or small dogs. He’s been ok with dogs around his size, though he’s not big into playing with others. He enjoys just wandering around and laying in the sun when he’s outside. The highlight of his shelter life is taking car rides to get ice cream!  His adoption fee is $175. That helps us to cover worming, vaccines, spay/neuter, heart worm test, and microchip.
