Story
Meet Tommy! Hello, my name is Tommy! I’m a 6-month-old mix of Australian cattle dog, American Staffordshire terrier, and hound, weighing in at 16 pounds of pure joy and personality. I’m a lively, affectionate pup who loves meeting people of all ages and sizes, and I’ll always greet you with a wagging tail and plenty of kisses. I adore belly rubs, snuggling in laps, and spending quality time with my favorite humans. I’m at the perfect age to adopt since I’m still a puppy with playful energy but have already learned my basic commands like “no,” “off,” “sit,” and “wait.” I’m fully housebroken and past the nippy/teething stage, so I’m ready to settle into a loving home without the extra challenges of early puppyhood. I also get along wonderfully with cats, respecting their space and coexisting peacefully with them in my foster home. I thrive on companionship and enjoy playing chase, tug-of-war, and zooming around the yard with my brother, Timmy, and the older, bigger dogs in my foster home. Despite being the runt of my litter, I’m the leader when it comes to sibling adventures! When playtime is over, I’m all about cuddling—whether it’s on the couch, in a dog bed, or better yet, right in your lap. I sleep peacefully in my crate at night, waking up accident-free and ready to start the day. I’m a fast learner, especially when treats are involved, and I walk well on a leash, though I’d prefer the freedom of a fenced yard to run and explore. My personality is the perfect balance of playful and affectionate. I bring a lively energy to the home but know how to relax and enjoy quiet moments with my family. I’d make an amazing addition to any home looking for a loving, outgoing, and fun companion. If you’re ready to meet your new best friend, I can’t wait to fill your days with love, laughter, and plenty of snuggles. Could I be the one for you? Story
Meet Dobby (formerly Acorn) Say hello to Dobby! This adorable 5-month-old pup earned his new name because of his uncanny resemblance to the beloved elf from Harry Potter. But don’t worry—this little guy doesn’t need socks to feel free—just a forever family to love him! Dobby is a sweet and well-behaved puppy who has made great strides with potty pad training and is learning to go outside, though he’s still working on being fully housebroken. He’s already mastered the “Sit” and “No” commands, proving he’s a quick learner. What makes Dobby extra special is his wonderful puppy manners. He doesn’t chew on furniture and is content with his toys and chewies. That said, he might be tempted by a cozy pair of slippers if given the chance! Dobby loves playing fetch with his foster parents and romping around outside with his four furry foster siblings. But his absolute favorite activity? Snuggling up for hours on end. He’s the ultimate cuddle companion, ready to warm your heart and lap. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate, and oh-so-adorable addition to your family, Dobby might just be your perfect match! 🐾 Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . Story
Meet April! 🐾💕 April is a 2-year-old, 75-76 lb Lab/Bully mix with a big heart and an even bigger love for people. She’s healthy, happy, and ready to find her forever home! Here's what we’ve learned about her so far: A People-Person Pup: April adores being around people and is especially fond of kids—though we haven’t seen her interact with younger children, she’s done great with older ones in her foster home. Her playful, affectionate nature makes her a big cuddle bug who loves belly rubs and being part of the action. Dog Interactions: April lives with other dogs and would do great as a solo dog or in a home with playful, tolerant companions. She’s particularly fond of the other younger dog in her foster home and treats her like her own puppy. April thrives in a home where playtime is fun but also balanced with calm, resting moments. Crate & Potty Training: Crate: April does great in her crate. While she may need a little nudge to go in, once inside, she settles in perfectly. Potty: She’s a pro at letting you know when she needs to go outside. She’ll either look at the door or get excited when you say the word "potty." Playtime & Walks: April loves her toys and hasn’t destroyed a single one! She’s also a big fan of blankets and will happily nuzzle into them for cozy moments. Walks are another favorite activity—though she’s still learning leash manners, she enjoys exploring with her humans. She also knows a few commands like "sit," "up," and "down," and has an adorable habit of weaving between your legs during playtime. Personality & Quirks: Mouthy Play: April can get a bit mouthy when playing, but it’s always gentle and never mean-spirited. Barking: She may bark when someone new comes into the house but settles down quickly. Picky Eater: While April enjoys both wet and dry food, she’s a little picky with treats and prefers them straight from her bowl instead of your hand. Ideal Home: April would do well in an active home with older children and possibly another dog who enjoys playtime and can match her energy. She loves being the center of attention and would thrive with a family ready to give her plenty of love, structure, and opportunities for fun! If you’re looking for a playful, cuddly companion who loves walks, belly rubs, and snuggling with blankets, April might be your perfect match. Could you be the one to give her the loving forever home she deserves? 🖤🐶 Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . Story
Meet Dillon: Your Future Best Friend Hi, I’m Dillon, a 3-year-old Blue Staffy mix with a gorgeous, soft grey coat that feels like a teddy bear! Right now, I’m working on gaining a little weight and am a lean 58 lbs, but I’ll fill out beautifully soon. I’m a mellow, sweet, and loving guy who thrives on being close to my people. Wherever you go, I’ll follow—whether it’s lying at your feet while you work, watching you do chores, or waiting patiently outside the shower for you to come out. I’m a total cuddle bug and love nothing more than snuggling on the couch with my chin in your lap or leaning into your chest. Even when we first meet, I’ll greet you with a wagging tail and gentle nudges for pets. I’ve got some fun quirks, too! I’ll cock my head to the side when you talk to me, like I’m really listening. And don’t get me started on toys—I love playing tug of war! I know commands like “sit” and “stay”, and I take treats gently (especially if you remind me to “take it nice”). My Journey I was once someone’s pet—I’m comfortable with stairs, I know toys, and I’ve learned house manners. But somehow, I ended up as a stray with no microchip. A crowded Texas shelter found me, but their space was so tight, I ended up on the euthanasia list. That’s when SHDR swooped in and saved me! My Personality People-Friendly: I adore people and greet everyone with my signature wiggle-butt and wagging tail (so hard, it wags my whole body!). I love being touched—just don’t grab my paws, as they’re still healing from scrapes I got in the shelter. Dog-Friendly: I coexist peacefully with other dogs, especially ones my size (50-70 lbs). I enjoy playing chase in the yard with my foster sibling and don’t mind sharing toys. I’d also be fine as your one-and-only dog, as long as someone is home with me. Family-Friendly: I’m great with teens and would do well in a home with kids 8 years or older, given my size. House-Trained: I’ll nudge you or head to the door when I need to go out, and I walk well on a leash (a harness works best for me!). My Ideal Home A fenced yard would be fantastic!-I need a safe space to run and chase squirrels! No shared walls like apartments or condos, as my bark can be loud when I do decide to use it (I’m usually quiet indoors). Someone who’s home most of the time—I thrive with companionship and would love a work-from-home or stay-at-home parent. If you’re looking for a medium-energy, loving shadow who will cherish every moment with you, I’m your guy. I’ll greet you with a wagging tail and all the love I can give. Let’s meet soon! Apply to adopt me, and I promise to be your most loyal and devoted companion. With love, Dillon Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). .
