Story
🌟 Meet Chance! 🌟 I’m Chance, a 1- to 2-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix who’s full of energy and love! I already know how to sit on command, and when you call my name, I’ll come running with a big smile. I absolutely adore humans and get along great with kids. I have the playful spirit of a puppy, and going on walks is one of my favorite things to do. After I’ve zoomed around and had my fun, I’m all about cuddling on the couch and binge-watching your favorite shows. I’m still working on my house manners, but don’t worry—my belly band helps keep things tidy while I learn. I’m a fast learner and eager to please, so I know I’ll have it mastered in no time. If you’re looking for an affectionate, energetic buddy to keep up with your active lifestyle, I’m your guy! Let’s make some memories together. Apply to meet me today! Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Applications will not be reviewed unless fully completed. Story
Meet Dobby (formerly Acorn) Say hello to Dobby! This adorable 5-month-old pup earned his new name because of his uncanny resemblance to the beloved elf from Harry Potter. But don’t worry—this little guy doesn’t need socks to feel free—just a forever family to love him! Dobby is a sweet and well-behaved puppy who has made great strides with potty pad training and is learning to go outside, though he’s still working on being fully housebroken. He’s already mastered the “Sit” and “No” commands, proving he’s a quick learner. What makes Dobby extra special is his wonderful puppy manners. He doesn’t chew on furniture and is content with his toys and chewies. That said, he might be tempted by a cozy pair of slippers if given the chance! Dobby loves playing fetch with his foster parents and romping around outside with his four furry foster siblings. But his absolute favorite activity? Snuggling up for hours on end. He’s the ultimate cuddle companion, ready to warm your heart and lap. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate, and oh-so-adorable addition to your family, Dobby might just be your perfect match! 🐾 Our standard adoption fee is $375 cash or check and $385 credit card ($10 processing fee). . Story
Meet Hera: Queen of the Doggie Pantheon Just like her namesake, Hera is a goddess who knows what she wants-adventure and relaxation, in perfect balance. With two divine moods, she loves exploring the outdoors and then basking in the sunshine on the couch, recharging her regal energy. Hera is wise and discerning, preferring a small, loyal circle of trusted friends. After all, even a goddess must choose her companions carefully! When it comes to training, Hera's eagerness shines, especially when cookies are on the table. She's one of our BEST loose-leash walkers, always composed and graceful on her walks. If she encounters any challenges, her trusty "let's go" cue makes it easy for her to move on like the queen she is. Hera seeks a home where she can reign as the only animal-no need to share her throne! She would also thrive in an adult-only home where her royal wishes are respected. A backyard would be the perfect place for her to soak up the sun and watch over her kingdom. Are you ready to welcome Hera, the queen of your heart and home? My favorite things: Being outside! Treats! Cream cheese and chicken are my favorite, but, let's be real, I'll eat almost anything. Watching out the living room window Long walks Booty scratches (once we a friends) Sleeping in a human bed Cues that I know: Sit, down Touch Place/Relaxation Working on muzzle training Loose leash walking Scratch (for keeping my front nails short with a scratch board) How am I doing in foster? "Hera is a bundle of joy and personality. She fits in perfectly to my routine as it's just her and me! That is where Hera thrives. She likes it when her close human friends come over to visit but prefers a quiet home. We go multiple times a week to the forest preserve, and she loves all the sniffs! She may try to chase a squirrel or two but can be redirected with treats. She also loves my fenced yard and having some independence when outside. I have been helping Hera prepare for her forever home by teaching her manners when people enter the house. You are in for a wonderful dog, if you pick Hera" -Hera's foster mom Hera is an All-Star dog! Her adoption appointment includes a discussion with our Training Team, and she will go home with her very own no pull-harness and a few enrichment goodies to help get her off to a good start! To schedule an appointment to meet Hera, email info@ahconnects.org (please include your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to help you! Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (6 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.
