Story

We are fostering Jett but cannot keep him much longer. We took him in after he came in to our vet office as a stray hit by car. He had a fractured pelvis and could not walk but with laser therapy and some pain meds he made a fast recovery. He is an energetic and sweet boy however we believe he may have been abused by men at one point before we met him as he is scared of men. However with proper introduction and a little time he has warmed up to them and loves them he can just be very cautious of men at first. He does great with dogs and cats, he is house trained and crate trained and knows basic commands. We believe he is about 2-3 years old. He loves cuddling and is still learning what personal space is but if you want a big cuddle bug he is the dog for you.

She doesn't appear to have been out on her own for long because her nails are nice and short and her fur is soft and clean. A FUN, PLAYFUL & ACTIVE GUY: Approx. 2 years old / Approx. 35 lbs. Hi, my name is Asher! Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I’m very grateful. The volunteers are taken with my unusual breed mix and my handsome ginger brindle coat, and compact body. I bet you will be too! I spent some time in the prison/foster training program offsite and learned a lot! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them, though I can be barky when I see other dogs – not to worry – my trainer will show you how to introduce me to other dogs, so let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I get a little excited to see children, so kids age 10+ would be the best fit for me, as I wouldn’t want to bump over younger children and toddlers. Of course, let’s meet! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I am a sweet guy who has earned the reputation of being ‘goofy and funny’ around the shelter. I’m happy with a fun nature, and sure to be a great addition to your family. I am full of playful energy and am not shy about speaking my mind, so I don’t think an apartment/condo type home would be a good fit for me. I’m a lot of dog in a little package. I’m also very sweet and fun! I was a very good boy, calm and sweet for my shelter bath – and I also enjoyed a nice shower in my temp. foster home. Affectionate and social, I have all the traits of a great companion. I, however, am not the kind of dog you would take to the kids’ sporting events, or a busy park, etc. since I can be reactive. / My energy level is 6–8, so I am looking for a family member who will be active with me. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands. I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping. I get distracted by sounds I hear on my walk that I don’t recognize, so my trainer is using the ‘leave it’ command to keep me on track on our walks. I’m very food motivated, so that makes my training fun and yummy! / I’m doing well in my little room at Mostly Mutts and I did well in my crate in a temp. foster home I visited. / I’ve had only a couple of accidents on the shelter schedule, and did well in a temp. foster home I visited, so I think I’ll do well in my new home once I know our schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I LOVE toys and enjoy having fun with them when the volunteers break them out at the shelter. I can entertain myself with a toy while you're busy, or if you prefer, I'd love to play fetch — just throw me a ball! I’d enjoy a nice, fenced yard where we can have lots of play sessions together. When it’s time to chill, I always enjoy a good petting and some cuddles with my people. I also enjoy my walks, but I need a strong walker, as I am a strong boy and can be reactive to people and other animals on walks. I absolutely love car rides, so let's hit the road and find some nice, more quiet places to explore together! / I have been frightened by certain loud motors, the vacuum etc. so I don’t like those. I’ve been enjoying my time with the nice volunteers and now I hear that I’m ready to find my new family to love and be loved by – yippie! But sometimes, the shelter environment has stressed me out during playdates, so it’s been a bit hit or miss. I’ve also pulled towards other dogs that I see on my walks because I’m so excited and just want to play with them! So, if you have a dog at home already who would like a friend, let’s meet with my trainer away from the shelter to see if we can be pals! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m described as fun, playful, friendly, sweet, and active – ready to enjoy the good life with my family! I can see us going for walks, playing and discovering lots of things to do together. I also love playing with toys and spending time with people. On our recent Georgia snow day, I had the absolute best time catching snowballs that the volunteers threw for me! / I can’t think of any dislikes but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.
