Story
loves kids, loves kisses and lapsSweet Rosie was abandoned at a church.  She was around a lot of kids who were out playing after church and she was very peaceful with them.  She has clearly been abused but despite her experience, she is the most loving, gentle lady.   She is fine around other dogs, non-confrontational.  She has not been cat tested.  She is in a kennel right now so we don't know about house-training yet.  She loves treats so she should be easy to train though. While she is fine with kids, I'm going to say older kids only because she does flinch with sudden movement, but has never shown reactivity or aggression.  She actually is a kissing fiend and can't get enough affection.  She is a big lap dog. Age: 1.5yrs   Weight: 45 lbs   Vetting: spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, and heartworm negative   Location: Colquitt, GA (3 hours away) but rescuer willing to conduct meetups in Atlanta   Contact for questions: janastoker@yahoo.com To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself. Please expect an adoption fee of $300; some of our urgent or long-term dogs have discounted fees. February 10, 2025, 12:09 pm

Story
Dear Future Family, Hi there, I’m Toad—though some folks like to call me Feldspar (fancy, right?). I’m writing this letter with my paws crossed, hoping that you might be the loving, active, and fun home I’ve been waiting for. You see, I’ve been in foster care for a while now, and while I’m incredibly grateful to my foster family for saving my life and giving me so much love, I’m ready to find my forever family. Maybe that’s you? First, let me tell you a little about me. I’m about two years old, full of energy, and absolutely love to run. In fact, I’m so good at running that I have my very own treadmill—and yep, I use it every day! Don’t worry, if you bring me home, the treadmill comes with me, so we can keep up with my routine. Whether it’s a long jog, a hike, or an exciting game of fetch, I’m always up for an adventure. If you’ve got an active lifestyle and need a buddy to keep up with you, I’m your guy. When I’m not running or playing, I’m all about cuddles. I’m a total cuddle bug, and I make the cutest little grumbles and grunts when I’m being loved on. It’s my way of saying “thank you” for all the affection! Toys are another favorite of mine—big ones, small ones, squeaky ones, tough ones—you name it, I’ll love it. I’m also really well-behaved in the house. I’m potty trained, non-destructive, and I know lots of cool tricks like sit, lay down, high five (my favorite!), and even waiting patiently for my meals. I’m super food motivated, which means I’m easy to train and eager to please. Oh, and I don’t have any resource guarding issues, so you never have to worry about me being grumpy over food, toys, or treats. I’m great with most dogs, especially if they love to play as much as I do. I do best with pups who enjoy a rowdy wrestling match or a good chase. I might take a little longer to warm up to intact males, but with proper introductions, I’m happy to make new friends. I think I’d be happiest in a home with no small kids (I get a little jumpy when I’m excited) or with older kids who are comfortable around dogs. One thing I need to mention—I’ve been through a lot in my short life. When my foster family saved me, I was on the euthanasia list. They gave me a second chance, and now I’m hoping you’ll give me my happily ever after. I promise to fill your life with love, laughter, and endless adventures. So, what do you think? Are you ready to meet your new best friend? If you are, I can’t wait to meet you, snuggle up with you, and maybe even race you on the treadmill (spoiler: I’ll win). My foster family is happy to answer any questions and even help set up a meet-and-greet. With love, hope, and a wagging tail, Toad (aka Feldspar) Age: 2.5 years  Weight: 69 lbs  Vetting: Up-to-date on vaccines, neutered and heartworm negative  Temperament: Good with older respectful kids and other dogs.  Training: house trained, crate trained,  He can sit, lay down and high-five. He can also “sit and wait” for his meals or to be let out of his crate.   For questions, please email aimiablepetcare@aol.com   To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit.  February 10, 2025, 9:34 am

Meet Penny, the aspiring professional weighted blanket and full-time lovebug! This affectionate girl has one mission in life: to be as close to you as possible. If you're looking for a cuddly companion who takes "lap dog" to a whole new level, Penny is your girl! She’s still figuring out the art of playtime, so she’d love a patient human to show her the ropes. In return, she’ll shower you with endless love (and maybe a little extra warmth on chilly nights). Penny would thrive in a home where she can stretch her legs in the yard, go on fun walks, and—most importantly—be adored for the sweet, snuggly pup she is. She’s currently in a foster home, but her time there is limited. She’s ready for a forever family to love, or even a foster home where she can continue to flourish. Can you give Penny the love she deserves? Reach out today—she’s waiting to snuggle her way into your heart! Story
Tonka and Rip are the ultimate lovebugs! These two furry friends stroll like pros on a leash, constantly checking in with their human sidekick during their adventures. They’re practically glued together in a crate, kennel, or just lounging around—wherever they go, they go as a duo! Still in their playful puppy phase, we're almost out of the wild antics of youth—thank goodness for toys that keep them too busy to chew on the furniture! Now, here’s the scoop: they can be a bit dramatic in their kennel, putting on a barking show for any critters that pass by. But outside of their cozy den? They’re all about cuddles and love with the cats and other animals! Just a couple of noisy sweethearts who can’t help but make a scene! Age: 1 year   Weight: 50 lb    Temperament: Good with other dogs and cats, just needs proper introduction, good with kids   Training: Housetrained, crate trained  Vetting: Spayed, up to date on vaccines, slow heartworm treatment is underway/paid. Xena is the ultimate cuddle bug, ready to snuggle up behind you and rest her adorable head on your shoulder! She might play hard to get at first, but once she warms up, she’s all about being your sidekick. This little sweetheart is as quiet as a mouse in her crate and walks like a dream on a leash! She's sharp as a tack too, with commands like sit, down, and kennel down pat. Plus, she’s a total foodie, which makes training a piece of cake! Just a heads up—this little adventurer gets a bit queasy in the car and can be a tad picky with her doggy pals, so a gentle introduction is the way to go! She also requests a wide array of acceptable chew toys to keep her entertained.  Age: 5 years   Weight: 50 lb    Temperament:  Good with other dogs and cats with slow introduction, good with kids   Training: Housetrained, crate trained  Vetting: spayed, up to date on vaccines, slow heartworm treatment is underway/paid   For questions, please email: tucker.nd@gmail.com  &#226&#128&#139    To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Story
Ellie is a wonderful dog with a playful spirit. Her favorite way to engage is with mouthiness, but she knows to adapt her play style when we say, "easy"!  Ellie was rescued from a situation of severe neglect, suffering from deep mange that has left her hair patchy. With a proper diet and regular baths, we anticipate that her fur will continue to grow back. Aside from her skin issues, she is a resilient little one who shows no other signs of the hardships she faced before her rescue. Age: 5 years   Weight: 50 lb    Temperament:  Good with other dogs and cats with slow introduction, good with kids Training: Housetrained, crate trained  Vetting: spayed, up to date on vaccines, slow heartworm treatment is underway/paid For questions, please email:   tucker.nd@gmail.com To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Story
I wanted to introduce you to the most delightful and adorable little low rider, Bandit. She is a 2.5-year-old sweetheart who is eagerly searching for her forever home. This lovely girl is fully housebroken and crate trained, making her an absolute joy to have around. Bandit wants nothing more than to be surrounded by her people and showered with love. She has so much affection to give in return! Bandit absolutely adores kids and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. However, she can be a bit pushy at times, so we think she would thrive best in a home with another dog who is patient and willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. If you are interested in giving this sweet girl the chance at the life she truly deserves, please consider applying to adopt her. Thank you for your interest in one of our furry kids! Adopting from Releash Atlanta means you will adopt a dog that has been fully vaccinated, spayed/neutered, microchipped and medically cleared!! While we make our best guesses, we often don’t know what breeds our kiddos are made of. We cannot guarantee our guesses will always be right but CAN guarantee they are 100% good dogs! Story
I adopted Sweet Pea from a rescue in 2015, she is a puppy mill survivor. She is currently about 12 years old and has a very calm, sweet demeanor. She can be playful and rambunctious when encouraged by her brother Tigger (Boston Terrier), and enjoys sleeping and snuggling with anything she can get her paws around. Although I'd very much like to keep Sweet Pea in my home, I'm unable to due to financial hardship. If possible, I'd like to make sure she stays with her brother Tigger, a 10 year Boston Terrier. I'm looking for a home that will give her (and hopefully her brother) an environment they'd thrive in. Both dogs have been very good with children in all their past-experiences. To describe their personality with children (and people in general), Sweet Pea takes a very curious, playful and motherly attitude and Tigger is very much the playful type.

Story
Hi, I’m January. I was rescued from a rural shelter, just a girl with a quiet heart and a big dream of finding a place where I could finally feel safe, loved, and cherished. Not long after, I gave birth to 11 beautiful puppies on Christmas Day—each one named after a month of the new year 2025. AHS pulled me from there and I was given the chance to survive in a foster home - It was a magical time, but now that they’ve all gone to their forever homes, it’s my turn. I’m ready for the love and peace I’ve always dreamed of.I’m a gentle soul, housebroken, and great in a crate. I’m not one for making a lot of noise—I just want to quietly be by your side, offering love in every soft look and every gentle nudge. I’m a lovebug at heart, a loyal companion who will fill your world with warmth and affection. My foster mom told me I am the best dog she has ever fostered - wow! I think I’d be happiest as the only dog in your home. I love the idea of having all your attention to myself, just the two of us—giving you all the cuddles and joy I’ve got to give. I’ve been curious about cats, but I’m not sure how I’d feel living with one, so I think it’s best if I’m your one and only furry friend for now.If you’re looking for a quiet, sweet girl to share your life with, I’d be honored to be yours. I’ve been through a lot already, and all I want now is a peaceful, loving home where I can curl up beside you and bring a little joy to your life, just like I’ve done for my puppies. Could you be the one to give me that home? I can’t wait to meet you!

These pups are in Decatur, Georgia too!

Chico (aka Chi Chi) has a zest for life and is always ready to play! He's on the lookout for a forever home that can match his turbocharged vibes. Ideally, his new owner would be just as lively and ready for walks or fun park hangouts as he is. This clever pup is quick on the uptake, responding to his name and a whole bunch of cool commands like sit, lay down, come, and leave it. While he might start off a bit bashful, once he warms up, he's a social butterfly, eager to make friends and have a blast. And don't worry, even in his shy moments, Chico's all about love and play, no hint of aggression in sight! Age: 2-3 years   Weight: 55 lbs  Vetting: Neutered, up to date on vaccines, HW negative.  Temperament:  Good with dogs and probably older sturdy kids because of his energy level.
