Story
I am Tank! While my name may suggest I am a mighty bull, I am actually a wittle shy mouse. Okay, maybe not little, but I am a gentle soul and may need your help to feel brave! I`m told I`m quite the striking boy and have the shiniest coat, but it`s my eyes that will really capture you. I like to stare at you lovingly...a lot. Once I get comfy the wiggles will slowly start to escape my body, though I do my best to contain them. I have recently discovered toys and think unstuffing them might just be the best thing ever. I`ve been working on learning my basic commands, but I am very eager to please and don`t mind being rewarded with pets! I`ve been friendly with the other dogs I`ve met in passing but hope to make more friends soon. Please ask to spend time with me today!

Story
Shall we play ball? I am Gavin, and life with me would BE a ball! I’m a lively boy and will never say no to a game of tag or taking a nice romp out in nature. Making new friends, with both people and other dogs, is always a fun time for me, though my dog friends say I can be `kind of a lot` at times, teehee. I’ll admit, the ole leash manners will need some work, but I am well-mannered indoors, housebroken, and looove to wrap myself up and become the ultimate piggy in a blankie, especially after I splish splash in the kiddie pool. I`ve been in foster homes that helped confirm these notes and prove I`m the bestest boy! I’ll seek you out when I’m ready for an ear massage, and once we are besties (which will be pretty soon), I will want the massages...a lot. I’m a fiercely loyal, silly boy and can’t wait to find my person! Is that you? Let’s find out!

Story
HEY YOU! Yes, you! Are you just going to stand there or are you going to give me a cuddle? Or perhaps throw my tennis ball? Pweeeease? I`m Eddie, and on the exterior I may present as a rugged older fellow, but you will quickly discover I`m just the happiest wittle puppy dog. I did live in a home before arriving to ACAR (I landed here due to no fault of my own), so I am well-mannered indoors and know sit, down, I`m crate trained and making great strides in my housebreaking. Tennis balls are the way to my heart, and after a good game of fetch I will present my booty to you and politely request that you give me aaaall the scratches. I have met a few other dogs, and so far, so good! I`m up for a game of tag with the youngins before I take my afternoon nap. I still have a lot of life in me, and I can`t wait to spend the rest of it with you! Let`s play ball right now!

Story
Ready to spice up your life? The name is Jalapeno Popper, but my friends call me Poppy, and we`re friends, aren`t we? I think humans are the best thing EVER. No, seriously, I`m a people dog, through and through. I spent time in a foster home, and my foster family reported I`m crate trained, housebroken, and my favorite spot was on the couch with them. I love people sooo much that I don`t want to share attention with other pets, please and thank you! I love exploring out in nature and going on long hikes, and I`ve been working really hard on my leash manners. I`m a fun-loving, loyal guy who cannot wait to spend forever with you. Let`s meet!

Story
Gunner was given to me at the age of 4 months by a breeder because I am a disabled veteran. I love my dog but I’m in the unfortunate family situation and I will spend some time with my family in Puerto Rico and sadly I can’t take him with me and can’t trust anyone to take care of him because the last time someone wasn’t treating my dog right. He is a big teddy bear for some people he looks scary but he is not at all. Great with kids. A little nervous at the beginning with other dogs but ones he gets acquainted he make doggy friends.

Story
Paprika is a young adult mixed breed who was brought to the shelter as a stray on 08/08/2024. She is heartworm negative, potty trained, and crate trained, and is ready for her new home. Paprika has a playful, puppy-like energy that makes her a joy to be around. She loves to run around in the yard, play fetch, and especially enjoys squeaky toys. While she can be a bit rough and rowdy during play, she is very social and enjoys interacting with other dogs. However, she can sometimes over-correct other dogs in play and may need some additional guidance when it comes to her interactions. With patience and proper training, Paprika could improve in this area and become a well-rounded companion.Unfortunately, the shelter environment is causing Paprika stress and frustration. Initially, she would shy away from people at the kennel door, but more recently, she has been jumping at the door, becoming reactive, and attempting to bite fingers. This behavior is a clear sign that her stress levels are growing, and she needs to be in a calmer, more comfortable space where she can thrive. Outside of the shelter, Paprika’s true potential shines. She’s a sweet and loving girl who enjoys relaxation time, especially joining her humans on the bed to rest. She’s very easygoing with care routines, allowing her teeth to be brushed, wearing clothes, and being wiped down without any issues. Paprika is also food-motivated and loves treats like pupperoni, peanut butter, and dog biscuits. She’s car-friendly and has mellow energy during car rides, with a slight pull from time to time. She does well with other dogs and is easy to work with in different environments.Paprika would do best in a home where she can receive the structure, attention, and training she needs to succeed. She is a little apprehensive of new people but warms up with time, showing her true sweet and loving nature. She would be an amazing companion for someone who is patient, kind, and ready to offer her the guidance she needs. Paprika deserves a home where she can feel safe and loved, and where she can continue to grow into the amazing dog she is. She is currently in foster care, but she’s still looking for her forever home.If you think Paprika might be the perfect fit for your family, come meet her today! She’s ready to leave the shelter behind and step into a new life full of love, playtime, and relaxation.

Story
Meet Casserole!Casserole is a playful, affectionate 2-year-old who loves toys, zoomies in the yard, and being a lap dog. He’s treat-motivated and knows how to sit for treats. While he’s generally good with people, Casserole does not get along well with other dogs in the home. He has shown food aggression with other dogs, causing an altercation with another dog in an adopter`s home over a food-like item. The dog did receive a puncture as a result of the altercation, so any adopter of Casserole will have to be prepared to work with this behavior. In the shelter during playgroups, Casserole has demonstrated Gentle Dainty playstyle, where he would start off being nervous and awkward before becoming playful afterwards.Casserole is mostly housebroken and a good car rider. He’s good around livestock and doesn’t attack cats that he has been around, but he does like to chase them. He loves attention and snuggling but would be best in a home where he’s the only dog.Though he may need some leash training (he’s a puller), Casserole is a happy, affectionate dog who would thrive in a home where he can be the center of attention. He’s mostly quiet and only barks occasionally at his reflection or the printer.Ideal Home:Casserole would be happiest in a home where he’s the only dog and gets plenty of attention. He may be best suited for someone who can work with his behavioral problems.
