Story
Meet Louise! She's a 55-pound lap dog who'll turn eight (or so) on January 1st. She's freakin' beautiful and hilariously expressive. She is curious and sometimes iffy toward other dogs while on a leash. Off-leash, like at dog parks, she keeps to herself, finding a toy or two and plopping down to tear it to shreds. One-on-one, she's made a best friend of a male husky. She's a middle-aged dog who would benefit from learning some new tricks. She has environmental allergies. Special soaps have helped, but I understand the allergy as similar to human dandruff: you can manage it, but once you have it, you have it. That said, a cone is sometimes necessary if she gets extra itchy. The rash is usually on her belly. I can't post her full story with the limited text space given. Please read her full story in this Reddit post I made. https://www.reddit.com/r/SantaBarbara/comments/1ggtypd/urgent_rehoming_needed_for_eightyearold_female/

Story
Our beautiful little bully girl is full of love, inquisitive and playful. She is in foster care so she isnt get a lot of attention while they are at work but she still is happy and easy going. We rescued her from a high kill shelter that told us she was emaciated and very neglected on intake. Someone left her on a busy intersection and she was very lucky to have NOT been hit by a car. She has all her shots and is microchipped. Will be ready to get spayed in December. Sandy loves people and pets and is very friendly with everyone she meets. Our adoption fee is $350. She will make a great companion to someone that loves her breed. Email Alphadogpetrescue@yahoo.com to request our adoption application.

Story
Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier X DOB: 6/2013 Gender: male Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: large Color(s): brown/white, streak of black on tail Description: Hi, I'm Jackson, a sweet American Staffordshire Terrier X who was rescued from an LA shelter by someone out-of-state who wanted to give me a chance at finding my forever home. I was evaluated by a trainer who said I was stressed but calm. Who wouldn't be stressed not knowing when your last day might be. I accepted being touched all over my body including my paws, tail and mouth. I know sit, shake and take treats gently. I did not exhibit any food aggression when tested with chicken. The trainer took me for a 30 minute walk and I pulled at first but listened to instructions about not pulling. I walked well after that. I did not react to strangers or other dogs we encountered on our walk. I showed more interest in people. This has since changed while I was in a foster home. I need to be the only dog in the home. I jumped in the trainer's car when given water after our walk. I didn't want to get out, I thought I was going home. I've been lucky to be able to get time away from the kennel. I was quick to pick up potty training and I was a true gentleman when left alone in the home. I'm grateful and happy to be in a safe place where I'll be taken care of and given lots of love and attention. I hope the next car I jump into will take me to my forever home. Someone who hasn't even met me in person was willing to give me a chance, won't you give me a chance too? Stop by and meet me. I'll be waiting. *Thank you to Jill for sponsoring this wonderful dog at the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary and giving him the chance for a better life. Story
Available to foster or adopt!Breed: American Stafforshire Terrier / Bulldog X DOB: est 2/2016 Gender: female Altered: yes Coat: short Size: medium Color(s): grey / white / tan Description: ***Needs a Foster Home*** This dog is in need of a foster home as well as a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online application. Hi, I'm Chula, a beautiful mostly American Staffordshire Terrier with some Bulldog, a bit of American Bulldog, and with a sprinkle of Staffordshire Bull Terrier and Neapolitan Mastiff (at least that is what my DNA report says) who is in need of a loving home. I was rescued from Animal Services where I was surrendered due to my owner moving and I couldn't go too. Animal Services had this to say about me. Chula is a petite lowrider looking for her new best friend! her owner was devastated to have to surrender her after moving and said this about her: 'Chula is protective over me. She's in tune with me when I'm sad and she's always there to comfort me. She's always playful and energetic. She's so silly and rolls around when playing.' Chula does have some fears and insecurities, especially meeting new people and having her shoulder and legs touched. In one of her homes, she was attacked by the resident dog that resulted in significant injury to her shoulder. Although her shoulder has healed well, this may be a contributing factor to her sensitivities and behavior with other dogs. It will take time, maybe even weeks, for her to become completely comfortable with a new person, especially men. She needs someone who can be patient and understand that she won't be ready to jump in your lap the first time you meet her. A quiet home with no little kids and few visitors will be the best place for her to feel safe and happy. She isn't the dog that wants to be the center of attention at a party - but she'd love to be your sidekick and give you all her love. She is working on feeling more comfortable around other dogs and has learned to tolerate wearing a muzzle to keep everyone safe if she needs to go to a vet or meet someone new and scary. If you have experience with insecure dogs, a quiet home and are looking for a partner to grow with, learn with, play with, train and love, please fill out an online application to meet her. *Thank you to the STARR Group for sponsoring this wonderful dog at the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary and giving her the chance for a better life.October 28, 2024, 11:59 pm
