Story
Email for details: Roxi is available for adoption in a foster home. If you're interested in adopting, please email us at sdcadoptions@sdhumane.org or call us at 619 299 7012. How Roxi arrived: Roxi was brought in by their previous owner. At SDHS:Roxi has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered and is now ready for her new home! Why Roxi might be the one for you:Lovely Roxi lived with one family her entire life before they moved out of the country and were forced to surrender her. She's now looking for her next home filled with love, comfy spaces to nap and walks around the neighborhood. According to her foster and volunteers who have taken her on outings, she is sweet and mellow, easy to care for, nonreactive to dogs or people while out and about and fully potty trained. She loves attention, belly rubs are her favorite and for any and all love/affection, she is all in. She's also quite active for her age! Squeaky toys are her favorite. She doesn't tire easily on walks and will even have little bursts of energy where she runs or rolls on the grass. Our staff love caring for her and seeing her little tippy taps as she greets them. If you're a one-pet type of person, Roxi is your girl! See why we adore her by visiting her. Email or call us with the above info to arrange a meeting. Story
Meet Oreo, a loving and sweet dog. She can be shy at first, but will warm up within minutes and then she is all over you showering you with kisses. She is also great with children and is comfortable with dogs that are not smaller than she is. Ore is leash-friendly and enjoys car rides. It would be great for Ore to find a family with teenagers, as she is very energetic and loves to play with toys, stuffed animals and ropes. Ideally, she should live in a place with a patio. She is in the process of being house-trained. If you are interested in adopting and think you can provide a great home for this pet, please see the contact info below. Story
Skye is three years old and loves peanut butter, bananas, and strawberries. She is very curious about her surroundings and is good with children. Her favorite thing to do is play tug of war with one of her toys. Cuddling is her second favorite thing to do with someone. I just want someone to spend time with her. I just acquired a new career and I'm away from home most of the day. I also have some work related travel coming in 2025. I won't have that much time to spend with her. Overall, she is a good dog. If anyone can take her in and give her the love attention she needs, I will be grateful. Thank you.

Breed: American StaffyAge: 8 years oldWeight: 40 lbsPersonality: -has vision issues (possibly a recent thing) and if you move to quick, can get defensive. Once she sniffs/licks you she’s fine. -LOVES to sleep in bed with people and doesn’t move an inch -has had some sort of Trauma at some point and is learning to trust again (if you know the breed, they typically bounce back quickly. She is taking a bit). After 3 weeks with Babs she play bows and wiggles when she runs around the house. -*caution* she WILL weasel her way into your heart really quickly. -ok in a crate (might do better on a consistent potty schedule with the crate)   Flight Risk: do not leave unattended in a yard, crate training is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures. Story
A friend gave us Bae when she was 4 months old. She’s been a great dog and this decision was not taken lightly. Bae is very loving, loves to cuddle, and strives for our attention. She is very good home alone and has never had an accident in the house. She loves going to dog beach and running in the water. While there she usually follows us as we walk on the shore and doesn’t really pay any mind to most dogs. This past year with a newborn was slightly challenging as over protective parents we kept a close eye and limited the interactions with Bae and our baby. She has not shown aggression to the baby. We do notice we aren’t able to give Bae the attention she needs. We also just had a second baby that needs a lot of medical attention that we need to take care of. We also realized the reality that we cannot give Bae the life she deserves.

Story
I rescued Smokey, but I’ve moved and I can only keep one dog. He is a very sweet boy, he loves attention and will be cuddled up to you the entire day. He loves playing with other dogs, but needs to be introduced to the pack before playing. He also adores children. Smokey loves blankets and building nests. He loves fetch and tug of war. He loves to bask in the sunlight. He is a sweetheart who will steal your heart immediately. Smokey needs more house training, as he was an outside dog prior to his new home. He likes to be in charge on walks and might pull a bit. Due to his previous situation, socialization has been limited and needs work, but he is eager to learn and please, and plays well once introduced. He comes with kennel, leash, harness and bowls. It’s most important that Smokey goes to a loving home that can train him more so I’m not charging a fee. Come get your heart stolen by this cute goofball today.

Story
Ivy is a Courtesy Post Only and is not a Second Chance Dog Rescue dog. SCDR is not responsible for any ownership, behavior, health, and representations made by the owner with respect to this dog. You must contact her adoption coordinator Ana at Ana@thriveanimalrescue.com for further information.  Ivy is a sweet, silly, cuddly, and affectionate girl - as of September 2024, she has been with us waiting for her forever family for over 456 days which is mind-blowing to staff at Thrive because of how great of a dog she is. Let's prioritize giving this lovebug a much deserved home for her to call her own!! Personality : She is a medium to high energy dog who loves to play - she enjoys mental and physical stimulation such as going for hikes or long walks/runs. She loves playing with other dogs and her people friends, but then she’s happy to relax and sunbathe in the yard after to decompress. Her favorite move is to flop on her back and show you her belly to ask for rubs :) Her Boxer zoomies will make you laugh! Training : Ivy has been going to doggie day care multiple times per week to hang out with all of her dog friends and has been doing great!! Despite her roughhousing playstyle with other large dogs, she is extremely gentle with puppies. She walks nicely on a leash and knows basic commands.  Ivy is on a special low-fat diet and we recommend that adopters keep her on this upon adoption to ensure she’s in tip-top health. The perfect forever family : She would do great in an active household with a young couple who loves to hike or go on adventures, and is good with kids 13+. She would likely love another active doggie friend. Ivy is available for a long-term committed foster or forever family. For further information or to meet Ivy, please contact Ana, Adoption Coordinator at Ana@thriveanimalrescue.com.  December 10, 2024, 4:48 pm

Story
Meet Abby! This beautiful 7-month-old, 28-pound princess is truly the most adorable and cute little girl you'll ever meet. She is a little survivor of 12, her mom was abandoned and at one day old, Abby and her 11 siblings were left in a box in the middle of nowhere with no shade. When we came for them after receiving a report from a neighbor of the owner, there were only 5 babies left alive, and we found the rest already dead inside a plastic bag with a knot in it. Abby grew up happy with her litter, they are very active and loving little ones. She is learning to walk on her leash, lives well with dogs and cats and is the most chubby of her litter. She is the smiliest and is very intelligent. It would be ideal for her to grow up in a home with children, she likes walks and although she is a little shy at first, she usually comes out of her shell quickly. The $350.00 adoption fee covers the following: Transport to San Diego, CA. Spay/Neuter. All vaccines up to date. Deworming (puppies 2 sets). Flea medication up to date. Tick control up to date.
