Story
This incredibly sweet girl is looking her forever home. She is 1.5 years, spayed, fully up to date on vaccines and would thrive in a home without other dogs. She weighs about 40 lbs. All records available. Fully house trained. She is very shy and gentle with people. She is a little timid at first but is full of love and wants nothing more than to cuddle & be close to her people. She had some ACL issues when she was younger, but she is great now with a single monthly injection and supplements. Outside of her afternoon zoomies, she is really mellow and doesn’t require much exercise, but she loves a good chew toy and a great bone will keep her occupied for hours. Her little tail is always thumping with excitement when she sees you walk in a room! Hoping to find her a loving new home that knows how amazing bully breeds are! We would love to keep her but unfortunately, she and our other dog are both better in single dog homes. Feel free to reach out with any questions!

Hello there, I'm Gia. I know I seem really shy but I promise I am a sweet and gentle love bug who loves to play and sniff! I just need a little extra love to warm up and adjust to new people and environments. I am also neutral to other dogs! Please ask a staff member to meet me, I would love to expand my trust to more human friends! Interested in adopting? Story
CHICA was a puppy mill breeder and then dumped on the streets where she lived for a year and got pregnant again. We pulled her out of the storms three days before she gave birth. She was SOOO relieved to have a safe and warm place to whelp and raise her babies, and she wanted me right by her side during the entire 24-hour labor, often leaning on me for support... while I promised she would never have to go through that again. CHICA is now spayed and has come a long way in socialization. She has learned to wag tail at strangers instead of bark. She does bark when other dogs walk by, but more out of jealousy than anything else. We think that she was never allowed indoors before since she took months to build up the courage to come inside. Now all she wants is to be somebody's couch potato! She is enthusiastic with affection and friendly with other dogs and even delivery drivers who she barks at until they come inside the yard to deliver a package, at which point she wags her tail and wants to say hello. ***CHICA displays no form of aggression except with a bit of FOOD GUARDING, as many street dogs do. It's also possible she was not fed enough as she was being used as a breeder. Since she is so friendly in every other way, this could be worked on. Story
Meet DALILAH. This "used up" breeder was found chained to a fence in Stockton, emaciated, covered in flies and fleas and dried blood, and struggling to walk and breathe. After taking some time to gain her trust, we took her to an after-hours vet to make sure she had no urgent healthcare issues and got some antibiotics for her skin. Turns out she has the worst case of fleas I have ever seen. Even after the dose of Capstar from the vet and a very thorough wash and rinse while she just sat there with her head on my knee and let the fleas wash away in masses, she still had hundreds of them crawling around and trying to get off of her. We will trim her nails and dose her with a longer-term flea medication and some dewormer, which is likely what has caused her distended belly and maybe her malnutrition, almost certainly anemia. We'll schedule her for our intro vet package (thorough health check, vaccinations, microchip), get some x-rays to determine why she has trouble walking, keep her inside for a while so the flies don't go back at it, get her on a regular diet, and hopefully she will be feeling and looking like herself... maybe for the first time ever. #DalilahTails. Story
My Adoption Fee is Waived!Jack is what we like to call a `big lug,` or a `big lovie.` He`s a lot of lab, and is a sweet potty-trained guy who just wants to have a happy home away from the shelter. He can pull a bit on leash, but walks better using a harness and LOVES to sniff his surroundings and enjoy the outdoors. Jack enjoys playing in the shelter pools. He recently met some social dogs at our shelter but he did not seem interested in making new dog friends. It`s possible that if his new adopters were willing to do slow introductions over days or weeks, he may be able to live with a respectful compatible dog. Or he may prefer to be the only dog in the household. Check out his playgroup video here:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!
