Story
Johnny is a big beefy dog looking for a big beefy guy (or gal) to pal around with! Throw on your matching tank tops and do your workouts together (you're sure to turn heads), followed by a long session tossing the ball around (he never passed a ball he didn't want to pick up), followed by maybe some weight lifting (he'll be your squatty spotter), followed by...yes, you guessed it, Johnny is all go! He's a bit of a freight train on leash and just enough of a bowling ball to knock over small kids, so an adult-only, active, breed aware home is going to be the best fit. Johnny is not compatible with other animals, so make sure you are going to the private gym (not to be mistaken with the dog park).    ~  Est DOB:  Oct 2017 ~  Intake weight:  75#  ~  Adoption details/application:  calhouncountyhs.blogspot.com/p/adopt.htmlNovember 1, 2024, 11:11 pm

Story
If boisterous and beautiful is your kind of gal, meet Norma! She truly embraces life, with a long list of things she loves that includes romping in the yard, squeaking the squeak out of squeaky toys, playing tug, polishing her already good obedience skills (with a few yummy treats for motivation) and so much more. But don't feel left out - she also enjoys her people-time. In fact, she'll push through a loose gate to come be with you, so a secure yard is key. Due to her play style and energy, she is recommended as companion for dogs her own size only, kids 10+, and no cats please.  Norma has EPI, a condition that is manageable with a low-fat diet and enzyme supplements. Please ask the shelter for details.  ***Our pups don't tell us who their parents are - BREED is a GUESS*** ~  Est DOB:  Jan 2018 ~  Intake weight:  59#  ~  Adoption details/application:  calhouncountyhs.blogspot.com/p/adopt.html  November 1, 2024, 11:11 pm

Story
This gorgeous girl is Melody! Melody is a sweet girl that LOVES to be active and to be outside. Her very favorite toy is a rubber kong that she can safely chew on! She can be a little shy at first, but when she gets comfortable with you she LOVES to get tummy rubs! She likes to "rule the roost" so she will need to be any only dog- no cats and no other dogs. She has been around her pup foster siblings but does not like them. Melody is potty trained and crate trained! If her foster family is gone during the day she is crated and does very well. She is possessive over her food bowl so she prefers to be left alone while eating. Her foster family crates her and walks out of the room while she is eating to make her feel more secure. She’s really just afraid someone is going to take her food from her... Melody will be a great companion to the right family. If your family would be a perfect match for her, please apply! Story
Introducing the most handsome boy, Dave. The beginning of Dave’s life wasn’t the best, but you would never know it as this boy’s smile lights up the room and he is just full of love. 💙🐾 Dave is smitten with every person he meets and is also absolutely fantastic with other dogs and has a wonderful submissive personality. Dave seems to be housetrained and isn’t a destructive boy though he does love romping around with any and all toys. 🐶❤️ Dave adores attention and two and four legged friends and would love a family that includes him on their adventures, whether they be hikes or snuggling up for a Netflix marathon. This handsome boy still gets excited about greeting new people so either a family that is willing to work with him on that or one without toddlers would be best.🫶🏻 This gorgeous, loving boy is ready to live the good life with his forever family and he’s hoping it might be you! 🎉😊 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form Most of our are pets are fostered in Southern foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. JJ loves his foster humans, dog friends, and even the cats. He loves to play with toys, swim in the lake/baby pool, and wrestle with his friends. When he's all wore out, he snuggles with his playmates. JJ would love a furrever home with an active family, his own baby pool, and a playful furr sibling. JJ is a perfect medium size dog. He looks bigger than he is in pictures. He is only about 40 pounds. He will make someone a great family pet. JJ is fostered in North Alabama but is available to other areas via transport. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, is heartworm negative and on preventatives. Apply at https:/forrescue.net
