Story
Indy is 4 years old and as sweet as can be! He has lived with a young woman in an apartment, house, and even travelled full-time in a camper van. He is an adaptable cat who loves to bond to his owner and can either adventure or nap together all day! He loves all people and kids he’s met. He loves being outside or watching out a window. He has gotten along with dogs and female cats but does not do well with other male cats. He is litter trained and ready to be an addition to your family or your sole companion. There is no adoption fee as we are just dedicated to him being placed to a loving home. We are willing to travel to you and are happy to arrange a meeting. We look forward to hearing from you!

Booty was a kitten from a litter at our house. I named him Booty because all four paws have white on them. Very sweet cat.

Story
My husband and I recently adopted Boris from my son who is no longer able to keep him. Boris is a big shedder. I do my best to keep things fur free (frequent brushing, vacuuming, washing furniture covers, keeping him out of our bedroom) but my husband is highly allergic. Boris is very chill but affectionate. He does not like to be picked up, but loves pets and "brushies". He can be playful and is a very good bug hunter.

Story
I am heartbroken to have to rehome him. I got him 3 years ago as a kitten, but he started attacking my other cat on and off a year and a half ago and reintroducing them isn't working anymore. He's such a sweet, albeit timid cat. He's never been around dogs or kids but with how shy he is im not sure he would thrive in that environment. He's not super affectionate but will snuggle up when you're sleeping. He loves watching out the windows and sleeping in cardboard boxes. He's just an overall easy going cat. Never had any health issues, his rabies shot is 1yr out of date but his FVRCP is good for another year.

Story
Penelope came to us as a dump one morning that we found after a rainy day :( She was found by our sign with a small puddle of water at the bottom of a box with two other kittens. It took no time for us to see that she was pregnant but had a rotting tail. We had to wait for her to have her sweet kittens, which happened within days, before we could address her tail. All of her kittens have long been adopted and she still waits for her forever family. She does have a little stub of tail BUT it makes it that much better when you see that little butt wiggle with content. Penelope has been spayed and is looking for her forever home! The adoption fee includes age appropriate vaccinations and wormings, spay or neuter surgery, Frontline application, collar, ID tag and a cardboard pet taxi. Shelter hours are Tuesday to Friday from 11 am to 4 pm and the first and third Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm. Story
If you are interesting in meeting any of our pets, the process is to complete an application.  It can be downloaded as a pdf document from our website and submitted by email to WindyRidgeRescue@gmail.com  as a scanned document or as photos OR can be completed entirely online. Both links are in the header of our website.   Because we are foster based, we require an approved application to schedule a meet and greet. We feel that is fair to our fosters and rescues so every meet and greet can result in an adoption. A limited number of cats are showcased at Peetco in Sumter, SC weekly.  &#226&#128&#139We do not have set adoption fees for dogs, but hope adopters will donate generously so we can rescue more. The medical care for every dog can easily exceed the adoption donation.  Average adoption fees for dogs in the area range from $175 up to $450. Your generous adoption donations help us continue our programs of providing quality food and medical care to those who pass through our fosters.  We ask for a minimum adoption donation of $70 for cats who are not yet altered and $100 for cats who are already spayed or neutered, regardless of age.  Please bring your own carrier for the ride home!  Each cat is up to date on vaccinations, dewormer, and microchipped.  Larger donations are always welcome so we can rescue more.  Medical care for each cat easily exceeds the minimum donation.   &#226&#128&#139As with every rescue, our resources are limited and the need for rescue help is unlimited. Your generosity helps us to rescue more and funds the only Trap Neuter Return Program in the county.  It's like tossing $100 bills in the woods when we trap a cat, vaccinate and spay or neuter that cat and then return them to the colony. Young kittens are tamed and available for adoption. We are alone doing this in our area. Your increased donation at the time of adoption can help us cover costs for the cat becoming part of your family as well as a feral to prevent more feral litters.  &#226&#128&#139Adopting or fostering for a rescue frees up a space where a new rescue can reside.  &#226&#128&#139If you can't adopt or foster, than please consider donating.  October 21, 2024, 3:12 pm
