Story
We found this little guy at our backdoor and after confirming that it wasn't one of our neighbors cats who may have gotten out, we figured that he was just someones outdoor cat who wanted make our house a stop he could visit. Then the hurricane came through and he was still outside. So out of concern for his safety we took him . We took him to the vet clinic as soon as we could to check for a microchip in hopes of finding his owners, but he did not have one. The vet told us that he supposed that someone had the cat as a kitten (since he was neutered and well mannered), but abandoned him when he got older. As an ex-outside cat, he is extremely food motivated as he didn't know when his next meal would be. He is very sweet, playful and loves to purr. Unfortunately we cannot keep him because we have three other cats who he does not get along with. However, he gets along very well with our large dog.

Story
Bruce was born on our front porch April 2024 one of 2 . He is a little guy but the epitome of a cat. Into everything, wanting to be everyone's friend. Walk by him and he reaches out and wraps his paws around you. He is one of the last of many feral. We have managed to spay or neuter the adults but can't afford the last 4 kittens.

Leo was born on our front porch in April 2024 one of 3 orange boys. He is a mischievous lover boy who loves cuddles. He gets along well with all the others and 2 chihuahuas. He and his brothers and sister are the last (hopefully) of the feral. We got all the adult fixed but have no more resources for the kittens.

Story
If you are interesting in meeting any of our pets, the process is to complete an application.  It can be downloaded as a pdf document from our website and submitted by email to WindyRidgeRescue@gmail.com  as a scanned document or as photos OR can be completed entirely online. Both links are in the header of our website.   Because we are foster based, we require an approved application to schedule a meet and greet. We feel that is fair to our fosters and rescues so every meet and greet can result in an adoption. A limited number of cats are showcased at Peetco in Sumter, SC weekly.  &#226&#128&#139We do not have set adoption fees for dogs, but hope adopters will donate generously so we can rescue more. The medical care for every dog can easily exceed the adoption donation.  Average adoption fees for dogs in the area range from $175 up to $450. Your generous adoption donations help us continue our programs of providing quality food and medical care to those who pass through our fosters.  We ask for a minimum adoption donation of $70 for cats who are not yet altered and $100 for cats who are already spayed or neutered, regardless of age.  Please bring your own carrier for the ride home!  Each cat is up to date on vaccinations, dewormer, and microchipped.  Larger donations are always welcome so we can rescue more.  Medical care for each cat easily exceeds the minimum donation.   &#226&#128&#139As with every rescue, our resources are limited and the need for rescue help is unlimited. Your generosity helps us to rescue more and funds the only Trap Neuter Return Program in the county.  It's like tossing $100 bills in the woods when we trap a cat, vaccinate and spay or neuter that cat and then return them to the colony. Young kittens are tamed and available for adoption. We are alone doing this in our area. Your increased donation at the time of adoption can help us cover costs for the cat becoming part of your family as well as a feral to prevent more feral litters.  &#226&#128&#139Adopting or fostering for a rescue frees up a space where a new rescue can reside.  &#226&#128&#139If you can't adopt or foster, than please consider donating.  October 21, 2024, 3:12 pm
