Story
Chyna is a sweet little pit bull mix who loves to be showered with attention, however she is often wary of strangers and can take a bit to warm up to new people. Chyna is house and crate trained and is very good with some basic obedience skills and loves to "work". Chyna is high energy, very strong and she needs an active person who will have patience with her and continue to work with and socialize her.  She loves to play ball and play fetch, but she also has some arthritis and knee issues and needs to avoid over-doing activity. Chyna listens well, is food motivated and is very smart. Chyna does have resource guarding issues with toys so no small kids in the home. She also has some allergy issues and requires frequent baths and topical medications. Chyna needs to be an "only dog" in the home and would do best in a quiet environment. Please e-mail us or call 715-468-7784 to find out more about Chyna. She is a great dog who deserves a great home. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 20, 2024, 5:54 pm

Story
Hello! My name is Mabel, and my foster mom says that I have a heart of gold! I was surrendered to a local pound because my previous home said they, "didn't have time for me anymore". I am house and crate trained, and I walk well on my Gentle Leader head collar - unless I see something I want to chase, and then you better hold on tight - I am very strong! I know some basic obedience skills like sit, down and stay, and I like to chase balls and really enjoy snuggling on the couch. My foster mom says that I listen well and would make a great companion. Check out my cool video! Please come and meet me so I can find someone to snuggle with! Mabel is a wonderful girl, and she wants all the attention and doesn't appreciate when other dogs get in her face so she needs to be the only dog in the home. Mabel will never be a "dog park dog", but she will fill your life with lots of unconditional love! Being a senior gal, s he has some urinary incontinence which is controlled with a medication called Proin and it works great. Mabel also has a bad knee and no longer goes up anymore than 3 stairs. She is fne with going down the stairs.  Please e-mail or call us at 715-468-7784 to find out more about this very special dog.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 6, 2024, 12:12 am

Story
Hey everyone, do you remember Avicci? Avicci has come back to us, he was showing protective tendencies in the home and he was having trouble adjusting to the home. Despite this, he is loving life. Avicci is a very special dog; and is without a doubt, a staff favorite. This guy is so expressive and can steal anyone’s heart with his goofy antics. Avicci does have issues with strangers in the home. A trainer would absolutely be a must in his new home. He has so much potential for a family that can give him that. Unfortunately, Avicci would not do well in a home with small animals/dogs. He has been exposed to other dogs in his last home and did well, but we would encourage a slow introduction. Avicci does have some skin issues, which are treated with medicated baths and Zyrtec, it seem’s to flare up in the summer months. Avicci is 8 years old and neutered. We won’t give up on Avicci - this guys family is out there ? To meet Avicci in person please submit an application, which can be found on our website chippewahumane.com. Once your application is approved a staff member will be in contact to schedule an appointment. Please call the shelter at 715 861 5748 with any questions. Can't commit to forever? Consider fostering! Fostering gives an animal a chance to leave the shelter and allows us to free up space to help another animal in need. It also provides us with valuable insight into how the animal adapts to a home environment and what they may need from an adopter—information we wouldn’t have otherwise. As an added bonus the shelter supplies all the necessary items needed and covers all the medical expenses! Foster applications can be found on our website chippewahumane.com

Story
Meet Petey! This adorable 11 month-old pup is a ball of nerves and playful energy. With his big, expressive eyes and wagging tail, Petey is a bundle of contradictions - nervous yet playful. He's always ready to do some zoomies, but he's also quick to startle at sudden movements and loud noises. Eager to overcome his nervousness, Petey has come a long way during his stay with us but is looking for the perfect family to help him build his confidence more. If you're seeking a sweet and playful companion who just needs a little extra patience and understanding, then Petey is the perfect match for you! Petey's adoption fee is sponsored! Story
Meet Chief, a gentle and sweet soul who is looking for a patient and loving home where he can truly flourish. Chief may be a little shy at first, especially around new people, but once he knows he can trust you, he’s all about forming a strong bond. Due to a past of abuse, Chief can be cautious, particularly around men, but with time, care, and positive reinforcement, he’s learning to feel safe and loved again. Chief is looking for a quiet, understanding environment where he can continue to build his confidence and blossom into the loyal, loving companion he was always meant to be. If you're someone who can offer a calm, patient atmosphere and a gentle hand, Chief just might be the perfect addition to your family.
