Story
Chun-Li is and Extended Stay Friend. Her adoption fee is $125. Meet Chun-Li, the sweet old girl who’s the best of both worlds! She's the perfect mix of calm and playful! Chun-Li walks nicely on a leash, making her a pleasant partner for leisurely strolls. While she may not be interested in toys, she never says no to treats or some good butt scratches. Chun-Li treasures the affection of her people above all else and is happiest when she’s close to you. If you're looking for a gentle and loving companion who prefers quiet moments of togetherness over the hustle and bustle, Chun-Li is the perfect match for you! **Here are some words from her foster family!*** "She has been absolutely flourishing here and has turned into a fairly active pup! We have been working on her stamina with walks with her joints in mind and are now up to about 1.5-2 miles at a time. Her joints don’t seem to bug her at all, she no longer has trouble hopping on the couch. She demands walks every day (it’s quite funny) and has a blast. We have loved fostering her again, she is a true queen!" Chun-Li would do fine in a home with children of all ages. We are not sure of how she is around cats Chun-Li can be selective with her doggy friends so a dog-to-dog meet is required before going into a home with other dogs. Chun-Li recently went on a Doggy Day Out with one of our volunteers and did wonderfully. She did great in the car, enjoyed a pup-cup and did lots of exploring. She was described as sweet, gentle, kind, beautiful and inquisitive. Here is what our volunteers have to say about her: "Chun-Li is a super sweet, docile, gentle girl. She did great riding in the car and going to the parks and exploring. She is such a sweetheart. I hope she finds an amazing "furever" home very soon." Chun-Li is a 7.5 year old female Pit bull who is fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed, and currently weighing 66.5lbs. *If you are interested in adopting please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Meet Maggy, a sweet dog who has been through more than most can imagine, but she's showing us every day how strong she is. Maggy was once thought to have found her forever home, but unfortunately, she was left behind by her previous adopter. Since returning to our shelter, she's been adjusting beautifully, slowly but surely building trust with our dedicated staff and embracing the daily routines here. We are so grateful to have Maggy back safe and sound, and we are hopeful that this time, she'll find the true forever home she deserves. Maggy is looking for a loving and patient owner who will offer her the unconditional love and security she craves. With the right gentle and caring person, Maggy will flourish and show her true, affectionate nature. She deserves a loyal companion who understands her needs and is committed to giving her the stability she deserves. Maggy should do well in households with children of all ages. We are unsure how Maggy does with cat friends. She will thrive best as the only dog in the household, where she can be the center of attention and form a deep bond with her new family. If you're ready to offer Maggy the kind of home that will make her feel safe and loved, she’s waiting for you with a heart full of hope. *If you are interested in adopting please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Meet Apollo, a lovable and affectionate dog who thrives on attention and affection from his people. With his gentle kisses and eagerness to be near his family, Apollo is the ultimate cuddle buddy. He’s also an energetic and playful pup, full of typical puppy enthusiasm, always ready for a game or a fun adventure. Apollo is food motivated, which makes training a breeze. He takes treats gently from your hand and is already familiar with his name and the command "sit." He’s still working on mastering other basic commands, but his eagerness to please makes him a quick learner. Apollo also walks wonderfully on a leash, making strolls around the neighborhood an enjoyable experience for both him and his handler. Apollo may do well in home with another dog. Because he can be selective with his canine friends, we ask that a dog meet with any resident dog be done prior to adoption. We are unsure how Apollo will do with cat friends. While Apollo is a great companion, he’s still learning the ropes of playtime. He can sometimes get overstimulated, so we recommend a home with children 12+ who can engage with him in a calm and positive way. With the right guidance, Apollo will continue to grow into the perfect, well-behaved companion. He’s ready to find a loving family who will help him become the best dog he can be! *If you are interested in adopting please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Meet Blanco, a sweet and energetic Pit Bull Terrier who will steal your heart! One thing the staff noticed right away is Blanco’s love for treats — this guy truly lives for snack time, and he’s always ready for a tasty bite! His tail is constantly wagging in excitement, showing just how happy and full of life he is. Blanco is very loving, calm, quiet, and easygoing, making him a great companion for a variety of households. He knows his name and the "sit" command, and he’s working on mastering other basic commands. Blanco is overall a good walker. He can be a little cautious when meeting new people, but this is normal and part of his sweet, gentle nature. Blanco is looking for a home that will give him the time and attention he needs to continue growing and learning. He’ll thrive in a household that can keep him mentally and physically stimulated, both inside and outside the home. While Blanco has a zero-age restriction, adopters should always supervise toddlers around dogs when eating, as he loves his treats! Blanco should do fine in a household with canine friends given a proper introduction. We are unsure how Blanco will do in a household with cat friends. If you’re looking for a calm, happy boy who will shower you with love and loyalty, Blanco is the perfect match for you! *If you are interested in adopting please start by filling out an application available on our website and email it to us. https://www.couleehumane.com/adopt-an-animal

Story
Introducing: sweet Mr. Charlie (formerly known as Pansy)! This handsome little guy had quite a rough beginning to life…as he was diagnosed with parvo at 7 weeks old. He was hospitalized for over 2 weeks, and in those 2 weeks he showed his true strength and resilience…as a fight for his life he undoubtedly had! Charlie was heavily medicated, tube fed, and monitored by the hour. When he was stable enough to be released from emergency care, his current foster family took him in in-order to keep him separated from his siblings. Fast-forward to today, and Charlie is healthy, happy, strong, and thriving! His care costs were expensive…but you can’t put a price tag on a precious little life. And for Charlie’s life we are SO thankful! Born on 1/1/24 (a New Year’s baby! ) to mama Rosie, Charlie (male) is now over 5 months old. He weighs-in right around 30lbs; our best guess is that fully grown he’ll reach 60-65lbs. Charlie (with all of his cuteness ) is SUCH a lovable little guy! He has lots of energy, loves to give out kisses, and gets along so well with other dogs + humans of any/all ages! He is kennel-trained, usually sleeps through the entire night, knows how to sit, shake, high five, and lay down! As a bonus, he is highly food/treat motivated AND extremely smart! He is bell-trained and will hit the bell hanging at the door when he needs to be let out to potty. Because Charlie’s stomach continues to heal from the toll his illness took on his body, he does tend to have some digestive issues. This may/may not continue for the extent of this sweet boy’s life (good veterinary care will need to be established by his adopters ), but as of right now he’s on a special kibble diet that has proven to be beneficial for his tummy troubles. He would love a family who can exercise him regularly (he’s an active, energetic guy!), and — although not a requirement — would especially love a fenced-in yard to run and play in. He most loves being outside and sunbathing in the backyard! Charlie is being fostered with children ages 6 and 9, and has been around kiddos as young as 5. He loves them all! Though as with any pup, young kids should be taught respect + proper puppy boundaries! As of right now, it is unknown how he’d do with kitties. Charlie loves to play, loves snuggling up in cozy blankies, and just loves being loved. He is such a sweet boy…and a survivor. He will make a wonderfully loving addition to a family he’s able to call his own. Apply now + reach out via private message…just ask for Charlie! APPLY HERE: https://newleashdogrescue.com (or private message us if you’re already preapproved!)  **Charlie’s $250 adoption fee includes his neuter, vaccines to date, and microchip. ##1970301##

Story
Leo is a young adult pit bull who came to the shelter about a month ago from some difficult circumstances. He was very frightened, and it took a team effort to gain his trust. Leo is a dog who needs you to show him first that you trust him before he will trust you. In a very short time, Leo has gone from a cowering, frightened dog to one who is happy to see those who he has connected with here at the shelter. He loves to go for car rides, is learning to walk on a leash, and will do just about anything to get his butt scratched. He was recently neutered, thanks to one of the generous staff members here at JCAS who is committed to finding Leo a good home. Leo would not be a good fit for a first time dog owner, and would do best with adults only or a household with older children. Introductions should be at Leo's comfort and pace. If you are lucky enough to gain his trust, you will have the best and most loyal companion for the rest of his life! Please call us at 715-284-0251 to make an appointment to meet Leo.

Story
Meet Robin, the delightful 11-year-old spayed female dog who has captured the hearts of our shelter staff but has yet to find her forever home. Despite her gentle nature and undeniable charm, Robin has not had a single meet and greet since she arrived at the shelter. Robin is a seasoned companion who knows the ins and outs of canine companionship. With her years of experience, she's mastered the art of loyalty, affection, and companionship. Whether it's curling up on the couch for a cozy nap or providing a comforting presence during quiet moments, Robin is always there to brighten your day. Despite her age, Robin still has plenty of love to give and is eager to form a deep bond with her future family. She's a low-maintenance companion who is content with the simple pleasures in life, like leisurely walks in the park or relaxing strolls around the neighborhood. While Robin may not have had the opportunity for meet and greets yet, she's more than ready to find her forever home and become a cherished member of a loving family. However, it's important to note that Robin prefers to be the only dog in the house, ensuring that she receives all the attention and affection she deserves. Although she hasn't had meet and greets, Robin has had positive experiences with younger kids in her life. If you're looking for a mature and affectionate canine companion to bring warmth and joy into your home, look no further than Robin. Despite her lack of meet and greets, she's patiently waiting for that special someone to open their heart and give her the loving home she deserves. Don't miss out on the opportunity to welcome Robin into your life. Reach out today to schedule a meet and greet and discover the joy of adding this wonderful canine companion to your family.
