I have had her since I was young and I love her to death. I live in a small space and work most of the time so she's stuck in a room alone all day which I know is horrible for her. Would like her to find a family more suited to care for her and give her a happier life. She turns 8 on August 18, doesn't bark much at all and is friendly and playful with my siblings dogs when she sees them, but of course I'm not entirely sure how she will be around new pets. We've never had a cat so I don't think she would be very good around them. Her stomach doesn't handle people food all that great so be careful with that as well. She's always willing to play if prompted and will occasionally initiate it herself by bringing over a toy, but otherwise she likes laying around in cozy warm areas and is very cuddly. I'm willing to get her spayed and up to date on shots if absolutely needed, though it will take some time as I am very low on funds and free time.

They call me Exuberant, Handsome and Sweet but you can choose a new name for me when we adopt each other. I don’t care what you call me, as long as you call me. I’m a happy dog who loves people more than anything else in the world. I’m a 6 year old mix, with a 22” collar and am very big and strong. The Vet said I weigh 73 pounds. Don’t let that scare you because I am just a mushy ball of love. I like to let everyone know how happy I am to see them by twirling around and wagging my tail as fast as it will go. This is usually when they call me Exuberant. I like to have fun. I’m such a good boy and I have good potty manners. I prefer being inside with people at night especially. Since I have a lot of energy and need exercise, your large fenced yard will be well-used. My foster peeps say I need a family, not a job. They know that I’m a quick learner and will be someone’s best dog ever. Because I’m big and young at heart, my new humans should have some experience with dogs and be able to work with someone of my stature. I promise I will try to do everything you ask enthusiastically. I don’t like loud booming noises (fireworks or dynamite) or gunfire but neither do most of my friends. Health wise, I am terrific; up to date on shots and tested negative for heartworms. Foster peeps say it means I will get my forever home very soon! Maybe it’s yours! FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. Hefner is a loving 6-year-old pit mix who has been patiently waiting for his person. He’s playful, incredibly smart, knows his basic commands, enjoys going for walks, is great with kids, and would likely do well with another dog his size in the home. Hefner does have a few allergies to mites and fleas, which are easily managed with regular flea and tick preventatives. In the shelter, stress can trigger flare-ups and with his immune system already working overtime, those allergies can be harder on him here.
