If you are looking for an absolute cuddle monster, River is the pup for you! She will burrow into your lap to ask for pets or give you a little lick on your leg and look at you with her sweet eyes. She is a goofy, affectionate dog who adores attention, pets, and napping directly on her humans whenever she can.
River enjoys her walks around the neighborhood or going on a hiking adventure. She also loves playing fetch, tug-of-war, and other games with humans -- but one of her favorite things is wrestling in the yard with other dog buds. When she's not zooming around with her canine foster siblings, she will contentedly chew on her favorite stuffed whale.
River is a quick learner - she's so close to knowing housetraining and understands the words "go potty" and "go outside." She's also doing well with crate training, including overnights and breaks during the day when her humans need to run errands or she's getting a little too excited with playtime. A kong or a few of her favorite toys and she's good to go in the crate.

City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model).
Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.
Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis.
Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
