And boy, did he surprise us all! Jack Teller turned out to be the friendliest pup around, melting hearts left and right with his warm greetings and wagging tail. He's not just good with people, but dogs too - a true social butterfly! Like many of our Tx dogs he is being treated for heartworms. NOTHING to worry about as this is very common here. This big guy is Bowie (fka Gambit). He was adopted as a puppy 2 years ago, but he was returned to us a few months ago. Bowie started having seizures and his adopter was not able to deal with them. We have spent the past few months working out a medication protocol that controls Bowie's seizures and lets him lead a good quality of life. Bowie is a big sweetheart. He is in a foster home with several other dogs of all sizes and a group of kitties as well. Bowie does well with all of them! Bowie is a bit independent, he doesn't snuggle much, but he's happy to just hang out with you. Bowie loves napping in the grass, going on car rides, walks around the neighborhood, and curling up in his bed while binge watching Netflix with you. And he loves the occasional bite of pizza! Bowie will need a special home that can continue his medication and vet care and will be able help him deal with his seizures if they happen. Pippin is a loving, energetic, and sensitive pup. He is 4 years old. We adopted him from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab. We were told he was born on and roamed around a Native American Reservation with his siblings and mother (white Pit Bull). His father was a white Labrador Retriever. Initially he was reserved and skittish, but after being in a stable home with persistent training, he began to open up. He needs gentle training; he becomes withdrawn and very cautious with loud commands and any forceful pulling. He likes running off-leash; however, he gets very excited when he sees horses and moose. He plays hard with dogs and some have been intimidated by that. He is so patient and loving with infants and kids. We have never seen him snarl or snap at anyone. He is typically a quiet dog, but he does howl when he really wants something and is trying to communicate with you. He has brought us so much joy, but now with two young children we sadly don't have the time he deserves.

OBSERVED BY SHELTER STAFF: Bella likes to have a good time! She’s a lively girl that would like someone to play with toys with her. She’s a strong girl that needs some fine tuning on her leash manners. She knows the sit and shake commands and appears house trained. Although she may chase a cat unless trained not to, she has done pretty well in our dog playgroups at the shelter. She would enjoy a home with an active person or family with respectful children. Medical Note: Bella came in with a case or ringworm on her right thigh. She has been treated with medication for 30 days and it is now no longer contagious. Weighs 67 pounds; $25 to adopt.
