Story
Alexander is a 2-year-old, handsome pup with a velvety light tan coat and soulful eyes that will melt your heart. Rescued from a parking lot where he was found seeking safety, this gentle boy has a sweet and sensitive nature. While Alexander initially arrived with a canine companion, he’s now ready to shine on his own and find a home where he can truly thrive. Alexander is a special dog looking for an experienced owner who understands how to guide and support a pup who needs a little extra confidence. His insecurity can make him nervous around strangers, so he’s not suited for a home with small children. However, with patience, structure, and lots of love, Alexander is sure to blossom into a devoted and affectionate companion. Though he can be shy at first, once Alexander feels safe, his loyalty and sweet nature truly shine. He’s a dog who will bond deeply with his person, ready to be by your side through life’s ups and downs. Alexander is eager to learn and grow, and he’ll thrive in a calm, structured environment with someone who can help him build his confidence. Fostering Alexander is an incredible way to make a difference in his life. Scout's Honor Rescue covers all fostering expenses, so you can focus on giving him the care and love he needs. Are you the experienced dog owner Alexander has been waiting for? Open your heart and home to this gentle soul and help him become the amazing dog he’s meant to be. He’s ready to start his new chapter with someone who believes in him—could that be you? &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143January 22, 2025, 6:49 pm

Story
Name: HoneyBreed: Pittie mixApproximate age: 7-8 yearsApproximate size: ~60 lbsGood with dogs? Yes! She loves all our other dogs. Big dogs and smalldogs everyone is her friend. She does not really play with other dogs but greatly enjoys their company. She does not care for puppies being in her face and will low growl.Cats? Unknown, but we can test her Kids? Yes! We have 5 kids, ages 7-17. I trust her with any of them. She is very sweet and kind even when she is nervous. She is extremely tolerant. How are they doing with potty training? She is completely house trained. How are they doing in their crate? She does not mind being in her kennel. She is a very good girl, and when we are gone she stays in a bedroom with one of our other dogs. She isn’t kenneled very often.Energy level? LowAny issues with guarding? No. She willingly moves away from her food when dogs or people approach.Leash reactivity? No. She does get nervous on walks, but is much better than she used to be.Fearful? Yes. New situations and fast movements or noises send her scurrying into another room.Aggression? NoneSeparation anxiety? NoAnything else you’d like to add?Honey has likely not been treated kindly in the past. She has heightened nervousness most of the time. New situations are hard for her. When she is nervous she removes herself from the situation and goes to another room. Her nervousness never comes out as aggression. She needs an adopter who is patient and kind and willing to give her lots of time to continue to adjust and understand that she will never be hurt again. She is more nervous around men but has come to initiate contact with her foster dad and older foster brother. Honey would do very well in a home with a very stable dog that could be her emotional support. She would do fine in a home with kids, but I think younger kids would be hard for her bc of their loudness and quick movements. I think Honey might always be a more nervous dog, but she has come a long ways and will likely continue to improve. Despite her anxiety, she is extremely tolerant and gentle. She loves to be loved on and will make an excellent companion for a very patient family.

Story
LOVES BELLY RUBS AND GIVES KISSES  Est. DOB 10/8/18, Weight ~ 65 lbs I’m Buster, a sweet, happy, eager-to-please, playful Boxer/ Black Mouth Cur mix fella who loves “marathon” belly rubs and snuggling for hours with my human dad on the sofa or the bed. When he sits on the floor with me, I love to lie across his lap and give kisses. I’m very loyal and doting with my human dad, with whom I’ve bonded tremendously, and I follow him everywhere. I’m respectful and trustworthy with children outside the coffee shop and on walks. A bonus is that I have a very soft mouth when I take treats and toys. Speaking of walks, I love them! But, True Confessions – I’m working on my leash manners so I don’t get overly stimulated by cats, squirrels, or certain other dogs. I do enjoy the company of certain other dogs, whether playing or lounging around together, but I'm rather selective.  Moderate exercise not only stimulates me physically but mentally too. I’ve been through obedience training and I “sit,” “down,” and “place” on command (for the most part). The trainer says that I’m a quick learner because of my treat-motivation. I’ve had a rotating cast of dog walkers, and they all applaud how people-friendly I am. With proper introductions, I meet new people and strangers easily – with the exception of people who ring that annoying doorbell. I’ve come a long way from when I was rescued at BARC, Houston’s City shelter. You know, there are advantages to adopting an adult dog like me who’s past the stage of puppy-craziness. I’m crate-trained and know how to use the doggy door. I’m not a digger and I don’t destroy anything that isn’t a toy -- other than a couple of pillows. I’ve been a loving adopted canine brother for many months but now my canine brother's anxiety has gotten worse, to the point where it is hard for us to be together therefore it’s better that I find a new home since he was here first.  So, I’m available for adoption again! If you’re looking for a big, gentle boy who’s a bundle of love, I fit the bill!! And I’m flexible – I can live in an apartment as long as I get adequate exercise or a home with a backyard for chasing the tennis ball.  I’d love to be the star of the show and get all of your love, i.e., not have to share you with another dog in the home, but I’d still like going to Day Care and play dates with my canine friends. Arrange to meet me, and remember, I’ve never met a stranger! Story
Winslow maybe 11 years young but he still has so much life in him. He plays with his foster brother Beemo, both saved from a high kill shelter of Houston. Winslow is a very sweet, calm, extremely loving big baby, who enjoys hanging out in his foster mom's yard, and lay around in the sun. He is also very obedient, housebroken, extremely intelligent, and gorgeous. He doesn't have any guarding tendency and is very submissive. He will do great in a quiet home, with or without another dog. Winslow is about 11 years old, 60 lb, has all his shots, and is neutered, microchipped and kept on heartworm and flea preventative. He is being fostered in Texas, but can travel to many states and even Canada for the right home. To meet this adorable pup, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com
