Meet Hennessy! She is a 3 yr old spayed female brindle pitbull mix that weighs 32 lbs. She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 12/3 as an owner surrender. Reason for surrender was unwanted. Hennessy is a lovely girl that was adopted previously from our shelter. During this time, she did not receive the best care. She is malnourished, skin is dry, some hair loss around her neck and hard calluses on her back hips showing she was living outside on concrete. Despite this she still has a happy go lucky loving personality. She enjoys going on walks, being petted and loved on. When sitting in a chair she will jump in my lap for pets. She remembers the sit/lay command and does take treats somewhat gently. She will be receiving additional feedings that I know will help her feel better. As we walked past the other dogs barking at her, she didn`t pay any attention, but we do ask if you have another dog in the home, please be sure to ask the shelter for a dog test. She would love to have a secured backyard to play in, but most importantly live indoors where she can be close and cuddly with her human companions. Please give this lovely girl the chance at her final loving home she so deserves.

Meet Eva! She is a 2 yr old female spayed terrier pitbull mix that weighs 56lbs, and is so adorable! She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 5/21. Eva has such a spirit and outgoing personality. She is so excited to be out of her kennel and on her way to play in the kennel yard. She does jump with excitement, but once her energy is out, she loves to lay down on the floor or a fluffy puppy bed and give you a big smile. She is friendly, sweet and very observant. She walks well on a leash, loves treats, and takes them gently. She is a beauty and dreams of finding her own loving family that can provide her a secured backyard to run and play in, but most importantly live indoors and cuddle close to her human companions. She didn’t show any interest in the other dogs that were barking at her, but we do ask if you have another dog in the home to please be sure to ask the shelter for a dog test. Meet Brandy, a mixed breed girl weighing 60 pounds, is approx 6 years of age and is spayed. Sadly, this precious girl was abandoned by her people and ended up at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 8/15. Do the math and note that she has been there for over 3 months. For no good reason, she has been overlooked by those who come to the shelter looking for a pet. She continues to be hopeful that the perfect person or family will see what a wonderful and devoted family member she would be. She is a happy girl, friendly, eager, loving, and does she ever love to cuddle! Wow! One of our volunteers has taken a special interest in her and sings her praises. Brandy loves to walk and does very well on a leash. Brandy doesn’t jump on you. She is house trained. She is highly motivated by treats. She is sweet natured, affectionate, and did I mention she likes to cuddle? 😁

The thing that stood out with Jilly is that she is very well behaved. She wants to please. She has a wonderful, easy-going disposition making her very adoptable and lovable! She is a two-year-old brindle terrier pit. She weighs 45 pounds. She arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 8/19 as a stray. She sits for treats and takes them very gently. She’s highly motivated by treats and frequently remains sitting in anticipation of another reward. She was very patient when I put the scarf on her. She stayed close and did not jump on me. She walked well on a leash. She wandered around the yard until she found the perfect spot, and then did her business. She was very friendly when meeting other dogs. When I sat down, she came to me and put her head on my lap. She’s friendly, joyful, and wiggly. Jilly wants to be an inside dog so she can chill out with you during family time. Bonus: she’s already spayed!

Gunther is a three year old American terrier pitbull that weighs 68 pounds and was brought into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 9/13 by a concerned citizen. He wasn’t able to tell me what caused the scarring and scabbing on his face and tail. He is very loving and wants a new family that will protect and cherish him. It`s clear he would be a devoted companion. He’s highly motivated by treats and sits for them. He needs practice with taking the treats gently. He loves squeaky toys and can entertain himself with them. He jumps up for attention but does not jump on you. He came from across the yard when I called him. He’s athletic, alert, highly engaged, lively, and playful. He did his business in the yard. He has a strong pull on the leash. He was non-reactive to other dogs. Instead he wanted my attention. He wants to be an inside dog. He wanted you to know he likes most sports on TV. He would gladly sit attentively by you and cheer on your team.

Meet Stewie! He is a 1 yr old neutered male American Pitbull Terrier mix that weighs 55lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 9/22 as a stray. Stewie is such a handsome boy with beautiful brown eyes, and a loving smile you just can’t resist. He loves to romp through the shelter yard and had a lot of fun going up and down the stair platform. He enjoyed standing on the top and taking in all the smells and sunshine. He walks well on a leash, takes treats gently and knows the sit command. Stewie loves to be petted, loved on and will give you kisses. As we walked through the bays he did not show any interest in the dogs barking at him. We do always ask if there will be another dog in the home to please ask the shelter for a dog test. He loves to chase balls but does not bring them back. He is a very happy and loving boy that has a tail that constantly is wagging.
