Story
Rocky was found by a lady at the local dog park while animal control was off duty so an HPD officer took him to dispatch. He was so incredibly well behaved and cared for that they really thought he belonged to someone, but he was not microchipped and no owner could be found. He is an active young boy with a whole lot of energy. He is very toy driven and loves playing fetch and tug of war or rough housing and running with the other dogs. He is friendly toward cats and wants to play with them so we would recommend only dog-savvy cats for this boy. Because of his high energy, he may accidently be too rough for small children, though he might be a fit with older children who could handle his exuberance. Once playtime is over, Rocky is ready for some attention and belly rubs! He is housetrained and kennel trained but would benefit from continued obedience training since he can get excitable and pull on the leash. He is up to date on vaccinations, monthly preventatives, and he is neutered and microchipped. This fun-loving boy is ready to go home so help us find his people! Please reach out to us to arrange a meet and greet with his foster mom! 9/28/24: Still no interest in this boy! We will be reducing his adoption fee from $350 to $175 to try to get this long term foster pup into his forever home faster! He is a smart, sweet, playful dog that deserves a good home. Black dogs and pitties are hard to find homes for because no one wants them! Can you see past his appearance to the perfect friend within??? Adopt Rocky!

Story
Henry is a big dog, friendly with slow and multiple meet and greets. It took some work to get him that way. Henry was not socialized at the right age so his lack of social cues can cause a fight in a social environment. He does need continued training. Henry does great on pack walks but is still a little uneasy. Henry does great with obedience, he knows sit, down, place and boundary control. Henry does require a pinch collar once he trusts you. He is a 3 date dog meaning he takes 3 dates to open up to new people. He's a good boy and love's adventure. and he can walk by a dog with no reactions. He is not allowed on the furniture because that's when his dominance takes over so he uses the place as his own sofa. He is not a fan of beginning grabbing by his collar, you have to use treats to lure him, if not he will shut down and it turns his attitude. He definitely needs a breed experience owner. If you are interested in adopting me, please go to the Ozzie and Friends website and apply.  https://www.ozzieandfriendsrescue.org/  November 6, 2024, 2:40 pm

COURTESY POST: Zeke is a Goofball!Zeke is the goofiest dog and loves to cuddle up next to anyone he meets. He has a left front leg/shoulder deformation from an injury when he was a puppy. We believe he was hit by a car or received blunt force trauma. Zeke takes daily pain medication that helps him tremendously and he does great running around with no issues. A home without younger children will be preferred to prevent rough housing which may cause Zeke pain. A Wisdom Panel was run on Zeke: he is a true mutt. American PitBull Terrier-20%, Bichon Frise-20%, ChowChow 9%, Chinese SharPei 9%, American Staffordshire Terrier 7% and 12 other breeds make up the remaining 35%. The results will be available to Zeke's adopter.November 5, 2024, 5:30 pm

Story
Tron was rescued as a puppy from BARC and has lived happily with us and grown up with our children for the last 3 years. He has always been sweet and playful. We’ve done our best to ensure that he’s had a happy and fulfilling life with us. However, after being attacked by a neighbor dog he has recently started to show aggression towards our other dogs when we show them affection and we believe he would be much happier in a home without other pets. Tron is the sweetest, snuggliest puppy who deserves the best home where he can be the center of attention. We love him and want to see him in a happy home. He has a birth defect in the tendons in his back legs that makes it uncomfortable for him to go on long walks, but otherwise he has no special needs.

Story
**Currently fostered in Houston Texas** Kyra is a happy go lucky pup who found herself abandoned on the streets. She was emaciated, had poor skin and just full of worms. Thankfully an amazing woman found her and took her in. She got her clean, well fed, and fully vetted. Now, Kyra is ready to start the next chapter in her adventure! Kyra is just over 2 years old, and is a total hambone of a dog. We believe she is some kind of pitbull, retriever, hound mix. Basically what we call, a Texas Street Special! Whatever her breed, she is all adventure pup and very eager for life. Kyra loves people, I don't think she could ever meet a stranger. She's extremely loving, and enjoys cuddles on the couch, giving kisses, and looking cute for treats! We think she would even do wonderfully with children. Kyra has done wonderful with other dogs as well. She is fantastic at her doggie daycare, does well at dog parks, and loves to play. She doesn't mind the cats, She does chase them at times when she just wants to play. Kyra is not an aggressive dog, but she can lack the meaning of personal space and some of the cats we've introduced her to have not taken kindly to that. We think she could do well in just about any home, however, she would prefer to have regular play mates that can keep up with her be it siblings or play mates from friends, neighbors or daycare environment. She just wants to enjoy life with someone! Kyra does very well with training, mostly due to the fact that she's so smart. She learns quickly, and at times, can be TOO smart. Like how she knows how to push the door open if it's not latched properly. She knows her basics such as sit, kennel, stay. Her only need for training is working on her impulse control. She is fully crate trained, and is doing fantastic with her leash training. She is housebroken, but being such a big pup still, we suggest using a kennel until fully acclimated. Though she quite enjoys cuddling in the bed or couch. Kyra is fully vetted, meaning she is current on all vaccinations and preventions. She is spayed as well as microchipped too. For more information on how to adopt Kyra, contact us at MokasMission@Gmail.com.

Story
Sally is a beautiful 2 year old Bully girl that was being kept by people who only wanted her to breed and sell puppies. When she was found as a stray and picked up, she stayed at the shelter for an extended period of time past her stray hold without being claimed. So we spayed her and began getting her ready for adoption. When her previous owner reached out trying to claim her and was informed that she had been fixed, they did not want to reclaim her. So Sally is looking for a new lease on life with a family who will love her for her beautiful sweet personality and for the companionship she offers. Sally loves attention and is very food motivated which should make her a breeze to train. So far she has gotten along with everyone and hasn't had any problems with other dogs, we aren't sure about cats. Sally is up to date on all shots and preventative, Heartworm negative, and spayed. Her adoption fee is only $30. please let us know if you would like to meet her.

Story
Buddy the bulldog mix is approximately 3 years old and came to us very underweight at 35 lbs. We’d like to see him closer to 60 lbs. He is neutral with other dogs, cats and kids, but not good with farm animals. He was found as a stray outside of Dallas and taken to be examined by a vet by a good Samaritan. Buddy is already neutered. He was michrochipped but his owner did not want this sweet boy back when contacted. We think it is their loss! Before going to his forever home, he will be up to date on his shots, heartworm tested and a couple small masses removed from his sides. We will get him back up to an appropriate weight. Buddy is a sweet, chill dude that just wants cuddles with his people and naps on the couch. He is crate trained and house trained and is quickly learning to walk nicely on a leash. He doesn't like the cold weather we had this past winter so his foster got him a sweater! He rides really well in the car and is a perfect gentleman at the vet. Update on Buddy! He is gaining weight and is back to where he should be at about 65-75 lbs! Unfortunately it was discovered that he is heartworm positive and is in the treatment process. This process will take approximately 9 months, during which he can be adopted locally. Please help us find this sweet boy a forever home! 6/1/24 update: Buddy is still waiting for his forever home! He is the perfect dog so I don't know how he still doesn't have a home yet! 10/22/24: I really don't know why Buddy is still here! He is so chill, great with everyone he meets including dogs, cats, kids and adults, and takes everything in stride! To help him get adopted faster, his adoption fee is partially sponsored and will now be $275 instead of $350. Please help Buddy find his forever home!
