Story
Rocky was found by a lady at the local dog park while animal control was off duty so an HPD officer took him to dispatch. He was so incredibly well behaved and cared for that they really thought he belonged to someone, but he was not microchipped and no owner could be found. He is an active young boy with a whole lot of energy. He is very toy driven and loves playing fetch and tug of war or rough housing and running with the other dogs. He is friendly toward cats and wants to play with them so we would recommend only dog-savvy cats for this boy. Because of his high energy, he may accidently be too rough for small children, though he might be a fit with older children who could handle his exuberance. Once playtime is over, Rocky is ready for some attention and belly rubs! He is housetrained and kennel trained but would benefit from continued obedience training since he can get excitable and pull on the leash. He is up to date on vaccinations, monthly preventatives, and he is neutered and microchipped. This fun-loving boy is ready to go home so help us find his people! Please reach out to us to arrange a meet and greet with his foster mom! 9/28/24: Still no interest in this boy! We will be reducing his adoption fee from $350 to $175 to try to get this long term foster pup into his forever home faster! He is a smart, sweet, playful dog that deserves a good home. Black dogs and pitties are hard to find homes for because no one wants them! Can you see past his appearance to the perfect friend within??? Adopt Rocky!

Story
Henry is an adult male Pit Bull, born on May 3, 2021, and weighing 40 pounds. With a big heart and a love for adventure, Henry is sure to capture the affection of those who take the time to understand his unique personality. Despite his strong and confident exterior, Henry requires patience and experience to fully appreciate his loving nature. Henry's journey to becoming a friendly and well-behaved companion hasn't been without its challenges. Due to a lack of socialization during his formative years, Henry sometimes struggles with social cues, which can lead to misunderstandings in social settings. Fortunately, with dedicated training and care, Henry has made significant progress and thrives under the guidance of an experienced owner. What to Expect When Adopting a Dog Like Henry Slow and Steady Introductions: Henry is a "three-date dog," meaning he takes a bit of time to warm up to new people. Multiple meet-and-greet sessions will help him feel more comfortable and secure. Patience and understanding are key to gaining his trust. Continued Training and Guidance: While Henry excels in obedience commands such as sit, down, place, and boundary control, he needs ongoing training to reinforce his social skills. A pinch collar is recommended once trust is established, helping him maintain focus and control during walks. Adventure-Loving Spirit: Henry loves adventure and is a great companion for pack walks, though he may initially feel uneasy. His ability to walk calmly past other dogs without reacting is a testament to his progress and potential. Understanding Boundaries: Henry is not allowed on furniture to prevent dominance issues. Instead, he enjoys using his designated place as his own cozy sofa. This routine helps reinforce boundaries and ensure a harmonious living environment. Gentle Handling: Henry is sensitive about being grabbed by his collar. Using treats to lure him is a more effective approach, as it prevents him from shutting down and maintains a positive attitude. Breed-Experienced Owner: Henry requires an owner with experience in handling Pit Bulls or similar breeds. Understanding his needs and providing a structured environment will help him continue to thrive and grow into a well-rounded companion. By welcoming Henry into your home, you're inviting a loyal and adventurous spirit into your life. His journey of growth and the bond you'll build together will be rewarding and fulfilling. If you're ready to offer Henry the understanding and guidance he needs, he might just be the perfect match for your family! Meet Teddy! He is really smart, really sweet and while he has plenty of energy the thing he loves most in the world is to sit and cuddle with you on the sofa or on a super soft blanket on the bed. Teddy is looking for a loving family to spend the rest of his years with. He will need an experienced, caring and patient owner. Teddy isn't cat friendly and would do well with older children only because he is a larger dog. COURTESY POST: Zeke is a Goofball!Zeke is the goofiest dog and loves to cuddle up next to anyone he meets. He has a left front leg/shoulder deformation from an injury when he was a puppy. We believe he was hit by a car or received blunt force trauma. Zeke takes daily pain medication that helps him tremendously and he does great running around with no issues. A home without younger children will be preferred to prevent rough housing which may cause Zeke pain. A Wisdom Panel was run on Zeke: he is a true mutt. American PitBull Terrier-20%, Bichon Frise-20%, ChowChow 9%, Chinese SharPei 9%, American Staffordshire Terrier 7% and 12 other breeds make up the remaining 35%. Maui is the sweetest hunk of love you’ll ever meet! He would love to have a family that will let him cuddle on the couch and be the most spoiled house hippo! This handsome dude is around 4 years old, a compact 70 lbs, and is the friendliest dog ever! He does excited little tippy tappies every time we walk up to his kennel run. He has gotten along with the dogs he is introduced to but would be best suited to a home with no cats. Maui is up to date on all shots and preventative, and neutered. He is heartworm positive but has been started on slow kill.

Story
Sienna is a gorgeous lady looking for her happily ever after. We believe she is around 3 years old, and she weighs around 60 lbs. Sienna was found possibly dumped, she wouldn’t leave a spot next to the road for days and just sat there looking depressed until she was able to be brought to the shelter. Sienna is a calm thoughtful girl who would enjoy a laid back home where she could relax, and maybe have a comfy couch to cuddle on. Sienna is a very smart girl, she knows how to sit, and give paw, she may know even more! But we’re sure she’d love to learn some new things with a forever family. Sienna is up to date on all shots and preventative, and spayed. She tested positive for heart worms, but she was started on slow kill. Please let us know if you would like to meet this pretty girl.
