Story
Colt is a beautiful 8 month old pittie mix boy who came to us over SEVEN months ago with his siblings when they were tiny babies. Since then, most of his siblings have found their forever homes. However, sweet Colt is still waiting ever so patiently. Colt is a calm, loving, affectionate boy who is well mannered and gentle. He loves other dogs, walkies, playing in the yards with other dogs, and chewing on toys. Colt is a sucker for a soft blanket and yummy treat, and unfortunately a kennel in our rescue is the only life this boy has ever known. Colt deserves a second chance at a forever family, and soon! No pup wants to spend Christmas in a kennel, let's get him to a couch! We promised Colt that the rest of his life, would be the best of his life. Could that be with you? This sweet girl is Bailey! Bailey is a sweet girl, and we believe she is around 3 years old. Bailey is an independent girlie, who loves to be around people, but is totally fine just hanging out. She walks great on a leash, and she doesn't seem to mind other dogs. She LOVES a big snuggly bed. She isn't very food motivated, but she will take super tasty treats, if you have them! Bailey would be a great outdoorsy partner, or just a pup to hang out with you! We promised Bailey that the rest of her life, would be the best of her life. Angel

American Pit Bull Terrier German Shepherd Dog

Female, Adult
Lexington, SC
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Location: West Columbia, SC Name: Angel Age: 4 years Breed: Pit/shepherd mix - 57 lbs M/F: F Spayed/Neutered/Shots: UTD on rabies and dhpp, heartworm negative and UTD on prevention, spayed Good with dogs, cats, and/or kids: Good with other dogs of all sizes and children. She isn’t a jumper which works very well for children. She seems to ignore my grown cats but tries to pick up small kittens and carry them around (doesn’t seem to be trying to hurt them) but I keep her separated just to be safe. Can get annoyed with the more energetic dogs. Aggression or medical issues?: flea allergy so have to keep her on prevention during warmer. Nub tail from previous life injuries that will flare up if flea allergies present and get raw again from her licking so again… flea prevention. months - Has been involved with a fight she didn’t want to be in and she tried to hold her own but gave up and simply laid down while I got the other off. She was raised with chiweenies and had 0 clue what to do in that situation. She thinks she is a small dog couch potato (other dog I learned is not good around any other female pit mixes and she was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time). Reason for rehoming?: owner moved and left her behind in a crate House/crate trained?: yes but doesn’t have to be crated as she doesn’t mess with anything in the house. Additional info/story (personality): Very sweet and loves to cuddle and get pets. She is more in her “laid back” era and more focused on pets and attention than playing with the others. When I get home and let her out her crate she greets me and then goes outside to potty and maybe hangs out 5-10 min before she’s back inside ready to hang out on the couch and cuddle. She also is really not bright for lack of better words (training her commands is extremely difficult). Message/comment if interested. Make sure if you message me to include the animal’s name since I have a lot of rescues I am trying to help rehome at the moment. Adoption application & contract required to ensure good home.

(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs special attention, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
STILL OVER CAPACITY and Esme is officially the main long-timer here. She was here before we were 501c3 official, and our 2nd dog intake ever back in 2021. She was adopted for ~6 months and returned back in March due to what I would say was no fault of her own as it was a very clearly stated potential issue that was warned about before adoption and reiterated after adoption when the situation in the home changed. The adoptees were still extremely upset about returning her, but decided they had to.... I can give more context but not going to type a book on her post. Long story short, it's been almost 3 years now, and she is still looking for her permanent furever home! *special needs - tripaw* Location: Lexington, SC Name: Esme Age: 3.5 years Breed: Lab/pit/mix (DNA Tested) - 60 lbs but overweight and should only be around 50 lbs M/F: F Spayed/Neutered/Shots: spayed; UTD on rabies, dhlpp, & bordetella; heartworm negative and UTD on prevetion Good with dogs, cats, and/or kids: good with all humans and has been around toddlers as well, good with dogs except severely alpha dogs (every incident so far has been with a female pit that came onto her - she defended herself and does it very well). Has been around 100’s of other dogs with no issues including dog parks and doggy daycares, she simply won’t tolerate being bullied or messed with. NOT good with cats (even my most dog friendly cats, she doesn’t try to hurt them, but she doesn’t understand her size and wants to play and is simply too much for them) Aggression or medical issues?: TRIPAW (3 legs - missing rear right leg) and gets daily joint supplements to prevent arthrtitis. Does not affect daily life and most don’t notice she is missing a leg because she acts so “normal”. Only further assistance she needs is getting in/out high vehicles. Also can only swim in circles but does like water. For aggression, she will never start anything, but she will finish it so you must make sure the dogs she are with will not push buttons. House/crate trained?: yes - needs to be crated when left alone Additional info/story (personality): VERY cuddly. Will stay close by without a leash once she learns area and homeowner when you take her outside. Will demand to be let back inside if you leave her out there too long cause she likes to be a lazy couch potato a good chunk of the time. Does snore. Does have a big and funny attitude and is very talkative. Super chewer and will need heavy duty toys. She will not chew on stuff she shouldn’t chew on unless she doesn’t have anything appropriate to chew on. She just loves chewing. Message/comment if interested. Make sure if you message me to include the animal’s name since I have a lot of rescues I am trying to help rehome at the moment. Adoption application & contract required to ensure good home. Story
Location: Lexington, SC Name: Lip Age: freshly 1 year Breed: Bully Mix - 68 lbs at last weigh in and is probably a bit more now honestly M/F: M Spayed/Neutered/Shots: Neutered; UTD on rabies, dhpp, and bordetella; heartworm negative and UTD on heartworm and flea prevention; microchipped Good with dogs, cats, and/or kids: good with other dogs; chases outside cats but has not been exposed to inside cats (can cat test upon request); was fine with the last kids he met BUT he is extremely hyper at first and jumps a lot and may be too much for little ones Aggression or medical issues?: none Reason for rehoming?: owner surrender after checking himself into rehab to keep animal control from taking his dogs House/crate trained?: house trained…. Haven’t directly attempted crate training but is used to being in a bigger cage Additional info/story (personality): He is VERY sweet and loving and just wants to give and receive affection all day every day. The issue is that he doesn’t understand his size and just gets so excited to see me, it can be a lot. He is extremely smart but it doesn’t all connect together sometimes when he is that excited. Only normally pulls bad for a leash with me if he sees a cat he wants to chase. Not a mean bone in his body and came from very well-tempered parents. Just a lot of energy still. Message/comment if interested. Make sure if you message me to include the animal’s name since I have a lot of rescues I am trying to help rehome at the moment. Size

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Location: Lexington, SC Name: Bobby Age: 1.5 years (~DOB: 12/4/22) Breed: Bully/dachshund?? Bully body/head on a weenie dog type body - possibly chihuahua based on personality - 30 lbs M/F: M Spayed/Neutered/Shots: Neutered; UTD on rabies, dhpp, bordetella, heartworm prevention; microchipped Good with dogs, cats, and/or kids: good with kids; good with larger dogs that will keep him in check; not good with smaller dogs or cats Aggression or medical issues?: no known medical - is an alpha male dog that will bully any animal that he can or that lets him (currently housed with many other dogs but they all constantly have to keep him in check) Reason for rehoming?: found stray - no owners could be located; adopted and returned after he started bullying smaller dogs extensively House/crate trained?: crate trained but will try to pitch a fit in the crate the first couple of days in a new home to try to convince you he isn’t. He was also returned for “pottying in the house” from last owner’s house but I do not have that happen here. Idk if it is because I have a fenced in yard he can go explore whenever he wants or because I have no carpet (last owner had carpet)? But I have never had him mark once at my new house. He does get an excitement tinkle sometimes when I first get home (just a teeny bit), but that’s it, and they normally outgrow that by 2-3. Additional info/story (personality): Talkative and loves attention. Does love to cuddle. Does jump, but he is stubby and his jumps don’t reach much height. Is terrified of snakes I learned so idk what that indicates about his breed makeup as all the definitive pit mixes were not afraid of the snake in the slightest. Although he is tiny, he pulls on a leash hard when he wants something specifically. Need heavy duty toys and the stuffed ones don’t last long at all.

Was a bit food protective at first but has been free fed and housed with 2 other female dogs for over a month now with no issues House/crate trained?: yes - will need to be crated when left alone Additional info/story (personality): Very sweet and very friendly. He loves humans and is very excited everytime he sees them. Likes playing with the other dogs and tends to reflect energy they give him pretty well (example: he’s housed with a 6 year old dog and 2 year old dog and 6 year old doesn’t want to play as much so he mostly plays with the 2 year old and leaves the 6 year old alone). He does walk well on a leash, but can pull if he gets excited by something he wants to see. Is high energy still as a whole and will need adequate space/time to release that. Story
My Mom found Butler on the side of the road 6 years ago. He has lived a very comfortable life with them since. My parents have many grandchildren and grand dogs that are at their house often, and Butler does not get along with the other dogs. The parents of the children feel it would be best to rehome him with the safety of their children top of mind. Butler has never bitten a human, but with all of the chaos of small children, they do not want to take any chances. Butler is probably about 7 or 8 years old. He is a sweet dog that would do best in a house without any other dogs or small children who would want to tug on him/be all over him.

This cutie patootie is Garrett, a 3 year old boxer mix who came to us from a local shelter. Garrett was hit by a car and brought to the shelter, but they didn't have the resources to help him, so we scooped him up! Garrett underwent surgery to repair breaks to his back leg, and is now recovering well! He is SUCH a sweetie, total lovebug. He gets along with other dogs, rides great in the car and walks well on a leash. Garrett has a long road of recovery ahead of him, but he is happy and motivated to please his people! We just know that he is going to be a fantastic family guy someday! We promised Garrett that the rest of his life, would be the best of his life.
