Story
Foxy is one of our longest residents here, having been in and out of our shelter since 2020. Foxy is looking for a very specific family and lifestyle. Foxy is a bit of a diva and can’t seem to share the love and affection of her family with any other children neither four legged or two legged. Foxy adores her people, and is beyond affectionate. Nothing will put a smile on your face quite like seeing Foxy wiggle her whole chunky body with excitement when she sees you. Foxy is a thicker girl and can pull on her leash when she sees new people. She can also pull when she gets upset at seeing another animal on her walk. However, she is very easy to leash up and she does love walking, and walks very well when she’s not distracted by anything. Foxy is very aware of her size, and knows exactly how to snuggle and give you gentle hugs and kisses. Foxy is looking for a family with no children, dogs, cats , or other pets but full of love and attention that she will give back to you tenfold.

Story
Hi there! My name is Lil Mama and I’m a Terrier and Pitbull mixed breed. I have been described as affectionate, energetic, and entertaining! My favorite activity has to be sitting in laps and getting cuddles. I also love getting soft and chewy treats! They help me learn new commands. I already know sit, down, stay, come, leave it, and place. I also respond well to clicker training. My ideal forever home would be with a person who can take me on lots of walks or runs and preferably a household without other dogs or cats. I would love a fenced in backyard to run around in but an apartment would also be fine as long as I get some outdoor time! I hope to meet you soon!

Story
Heaven is a beautiful 5-year-old pit mix with a unique white and brindle coat. She is one of our longest residents at the shelter, arriving in 2021! Although she has a strong personality, she is a softy at heart. Heaven is great with other dogs, and she loves to go out and play in our doggy playgroups. When she is not playing with other dogs, she loves to seek out her person, pop her arms on their shoulders, and give them a big hug and kiss. It may take a time or two for Heaven to warm up to you, but take it from our staff at the shelter, it is worth the wait! Like some dogs in the shelter environment, Heaven has some trouble trusting people and other dogs around her food. Because of this we feel like she would be best in a home without small children, and if she has fur siblings, they are fed separately. Other than that, Heaven should make a seamless transition into your home!

Story
Blue is our extremely loving, playful and high energy boy. He is a 70 lb, 1 year old American bully and pitbull mix. With a newborn and increased work travel, we no longer have time for proper training, exercise, and cuddles he so greatly deserves. Blue has a sweet and playful temperament, has never shown any signs of aggression. We are looking for someone who can commit to getting him proper training. Although he is wonderful, he is not “easy”- he needs socialization with other dogs, training on leash, manners with greeting new people and help with separation anxiety. He’s loving, loyal, loves car rides and walks, and works hard for treats. He’ll make the perfect companion for the right person.

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 4/7/2022 Reason for being in rescue: Reuger was found as a stray by a staff member. Though his owners were found, they were unable to keep him and surrendered him to rescue. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet, SC Special Needs? Reuger is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. Reuger is available for transport to New York! Weight: 44 lbs Height: 20 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Reuger needs an experienced owner that is committed to giving this high-energy boy plenty of positive opportunities to get his energy out. Reuger has been in a foster home with several large dogs, small dogs, and cats. He has done exceptionally well. He rarely meets a dog that is not his friend. He would be suited for a home with any range of animal companions.  Reuger is a lover and is looking for a family who is seeking a loving dog. Reuger's favorite place to be is right next to his person. Reuger loves to be on the go, we cannot express that he needs to exercise. Reuger is looking for a regular hiker and someone who enjoys life on the move. We feel Reuger would be content in just about any home with the time to give him play time and mental stimulation. Reuger would do well with children 10 and older, he is goofy and tends to forget he is a big boy from time to time. Reuger is looking for a family environment where he is included in life. Reuger is a stunning young man and has been looking for his forever home for quite some time, we are hoping you can give Reuger the forever home he deserves.  What is my personality like? Reuger was found chasing a butterfly on the side of a busy highway. Oblivious to the dangers of cars, and happy to go for a ride, he just wanted to have fun. Though Reuger is microchipped, and his owners were contacted, they never came to get their boy and he was surrendered to rescue. The best way to describe Reguer is high energy. Friendly. Playful. Did we mention high energy! Reuger is super sweet and ready to GO! This bright boy will need his intelligent brain exercised regularly, along with his growing body. Even with all of this energy, Reuger is eager for belly rubs and cuddles, too. Reuger has done well with crate training, especially when given frequent potty breaks before bedtime. Reuger is crate-trained, leash-trained, house-trained, and knows several basic commands. Reuger completed an 8-week clicker training course hosted by our friends at Barkers Anonymous in Hendersonville, NC.  The gift of this training is sponsored by the Holly Fund and is uniquely designed for dogs in foster care to learn new skills and new confidence to allow them to transition to new homes. He was the star of the show and displayed extraordinary skills. He is attentive and eager to learn. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly, Reuger never meets a stranger! Other tips and tidbits: Reuger was found as a stray so we have no history on him. We celebrate his birthday as 08/07/2021. Reuger is available for transport to New York! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. November 5, 2024, 5:31 pm

Smokey is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 66 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $199 Fence needed? Yes, Smokey requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller What kind of home would be best for me? Smokey is a wonderful boy looking for a home filled with adventure. He is great with other large dogs. He's curious about small dogs and cats; we don't recommend a home with these. Smokey is looking for an active home that wants an adventure buddy. He'd love someone home during the day or someone that can come home and offer him lots of physical and mental stimulation. Smokey would be good with children over 10. What is my personality like? Smokey was found tied to our gate one morning when our caregivers arrived for work. Wearing a collar with his name embroidered on it, it was clear he'd been loved and his family was desperate. Sadly, his best friend and canine sister had eaten her way out of her collar and was hit by a car and killed in front of our rescue. It's a tragic new start for Smokey, but we know his future is bright! Smokey enjoys meeting new people and going on adventures. He is very people friendly and loves snuggles and attention. This big boy is a true lovebug at heart and likes being the center of attention. Smokey loves fluffy beds, toys, sunbathing outdoors, and playing with his favorite female canines. Smokey is searching for a home where he can receive lots of outdoor activity (a fenced in yard would be best), lots of stimulation, and lots of attention from his humans. He loves going on walks and seeing new places/things. He walks decently on leash, but does pull quite a bit. His ideal home would consist of a younger couple/family with no tiny humans and a large yard to run and play in. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly Other tips and tidbits: Smokey arrived in rescue as a stray so we have no history on his life before us. Based on his overall health and condition he is estimated at 3 years old. We celebrate his birthday 8/2/2020. House trained? Yes, Athena requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller What kind of home would be best for me? Athena is a young, active girl looking for an active home. Another active dog in the home for playtime is a requirement. Athena has lived with small dogs and younger children. She is truly great with everyone. Her dream is an active home where her humans are home more than they are away (work from home, home school, stay at home, active retirees) and want a hiking and adventure friend. What is my personality like? Athena is a young female Pit Bull Terrier who is seeking an active and playful forever home. She has been well loved and cared for as a young puppy. Sadly, life for Athena's humans changed and, despite their best efforts, they simply could not care for their beloved pup. She was lovingly surrendered to rescue to help her find the happily ever after Athena wants. Athena loves meeting new people and canines. She is extremely playful and active and must have a home that will give her the daily stimulation and exercise she needs. Athena would prefer another active canine in the home, one who can keep her company and help exert her energy. She is leash trained and knows a few basic cues, but is still working on perfecting her crate training. Athena loves toys and warm fluffy beds, along with sunbathing and cuddling with her humans. She is pretty high energy and loves going on outdoor runs/hikes/adventures. This sweet girl would truly play all day long given the opportunity. Athena loves curling up in her humans’ lap and snoozing or just to receive attention. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly Other tips and tidbits: Athena was estimated at 9 months old when surrendered to rescue. We celebrate her birthday 1/1/2023. House trained? Cruz is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 42 lbs Height: 18 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $199 Fence needed? No. Cruz gets stressed in physically fenced yards and will chew and pull on the fencing. This may be environmental. Regardless, if your yard is fence this is something to be aware of; he is more comfortable when you are outside in the fenced area with him or better yet- walking beside you as you walk, hike and run.   What kind of home would be best for me? Cruz would do well in an apartment or house, but a house with a yard would be preferable. Cruz gets stressed in physically fenced in yards and will chew and pull on fencing. If you have a yard with fencing he is more comfortable when you are outside in the fenced in area with him. Cruz has some social skills, but he needs to work on them and develop others. He needs a devoted adopter who will be home with him most of the time. Cruz needs taught his basic commands and how to walk on a leash. A home with another dog will provide Cruz with a buddy to learn from and model behaviors as he develops into a good dog and life-long companion.  What is my personality like? Cruz was found running the fence line of our rescue, trying to get in. He is a happy, bouncy boy, a puppy at heart. He has tons of young energy and is always on the go. Cruz needs a large backyard or lots of daily exercise and could benefit from mental stimulation when he isn’t actively exercising (snuffle mats, lick mats, puzzle toys, etc.). He loves to play with anybody who will attention to him. Cruz wants his own human(s), someone who will be home with him all, or most of the day. Pets, chin scratches and belly rubs make Cruz smile. He has some dog friends here and, like all of us, has some dogs he likes and some he does not.  We are not sure of how he will do with cats. Once you train and socialize Cruz it will bring out the best in him. Cruz will be a loyal companion to the human who makes him the center of his or her world. Cruz doesn't believe that's asking too much. We are certain over time he will develop into a wonderful life-long companion that will bring smiles to both your faces. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly. Cruz is happy to see people and love being love on.  Other tips and tidbits: Cruz showed up at our rescue as a stray. We have absolutely no history on him. Our vet estimates his birth date to be on or about 4/1/2023. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours.
