Story
Melo is an 85lb American Pitt. He is very loving, energetic, and playful. Even though he’s kept inside, he loves the outdoors. It would be good to have a fence in backyard or he can just run around and play and be free. He is up-to-date on all shots, he has a microchip and he goes to the groomers once a month. He is very healthy. It is very unfortunate and sad for my family that we are having to rehome him. Unfortunately, in the new housing development that we are settling into they are breed restricted, and unfortunately his breed is on that list.. so it’s very important to my family that he finds a loving home with people who will treat him good and love him and take care of him both physically and emotionally.

Story
Looking for loving home. Playful, smart, energetic, very trainable. Less than 1yr old. This bundle of joy is very loving, very energetic and ready to play. I love this dog very much. He’s always so excited to see me come home from work. Unfortunately, we’re running out of space with another baby on the way. We wanna make sure he finds a good home who can give him lots of attention. Very smart, a little bit of sass, very confident, and very playful.

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 4/7/2022 Reason for being in rescue: Reuger was found as a stray by a staff member. Though his owners were found, they were unable to keep him and surrendered him to rescue. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet, SC Special Needs? Reuger is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. Reuger is available for transport to New York! Weight: 44 lbs Height: 20 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes What kind of home would be best for me? Reuger needs an experienced owner that is committed to giving this high-energy boy plenty of positive opportunities to get his energy out. Reuger has been in a foster home with several large dogs, small dogs, and cats. He has done exceptionally well. He rarely meets a dog that is not his friend. He would be suited for a home with any range of animal companions.  Reuger is a lover and is looking for a family who is seeking a loving dog. Reuger's favorite place to be is right next to his person. Reuger loves to be on the go, we cannot express that he needs to exercise. Reuger is looking for a regular hiker and someone who enjoys life on the move. We feel Reuger would be content in just about any home with the time to give him play time and mental stimulation. Reuger would do well with children 10 and older, he is goofy and tends to forget he is a big boy from time to time. Reuger is looking for a family environment where he is included in life. Reuger is a stunning young man and has been looking for his forever home for quite some time, we are hoping you can give Reuger the forever home he deserves.  What is my personality like? Reuger was found chasing a butterfly on the side of a busy highway. Oblivious to the dangers of cars, and happy to go for a ride, he just wanted to have fun. Though Reuger is microchipped, and his owners were contacted, they never came to get their boy and he was surrendered to rescue. The best way to describe Reguer is high energy. Friendly. Playful. Did we mention high energy! Reuger is super sweet and ready to GO! This bright boy will need his intelligent brain exercised regularly, along with his growing body. Even with all of this energy, Reuger is eager for belly rubs and cuddles, too. Reuger has done well with crate training, especially when given frequent potty breaks before bedtime. Reuger is crate-trained, leash-trained, house-trained, and knows several basic commands. Reuger completed an 8-week clicker training course hosted by our friends at Barkers Anonymous in Hendersonville, NC.  The gift of this training is sponsored by the Holly Fund and is uniquely designed for dogs in foster care to learn new skills and new confidence to allow them to transition to new homes. He was the star of the show and displayed extraordinary skills. He is attentive and eager to learn. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly, Reuger never meets a stranger! Other tips and tidbits: Reuger was found as a stray so we have no history on him. We celebrate his birthday as 08/07/2021. Reuger is available for transport to New York! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. November 5, 2024, 5:31 pm

Athena is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 44 lbs Height: 18 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? Yes, Athena requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller What kind of home would be best for me? Athena is a young, active girl looking for an active home. Another active dog in the home for playtime is a requirement. Athena has lived with small dogs and younger children. She is truly great with everyone. Her dream is an active home where her humans are home more than they are away (work from home, home school, stay at home, active retirees) and want a hiking and adventure friend. What is my personality like? Athena is a young female Pit Bull Terrier who is seeking an active and playful forever home. She has been well loved and cared for as a young puppy. Sadly, life for Athena's humans changed and, despite their best efforts, they simply could not care for their beloved pup. She was lovingly surrendered to rescue to help her find the happily ever after Athena wants. Athena loves meeting new people and canines. She is extremely playful and active and must have a home that will give her the daily stimulation and exercise she needs. Athena would prefer another active canine in the home, one who can keep her company and help exert her energy. She is leash trained and knows a few basic cues, but is still working on perfecting her crate training. Athena loves toys and warm fluffy beds, along with sunbathing and cuddling with her humans. She is pretty high energy and loves going on outdoor runs/hikes/adventures. This sweet girl would truly play all day long given the opportunity. Athena loves curling up in her humans’ lap and snoozing or just to receive attention. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly Other tips and tidbits: Athena was estimated at 9 months old when surrendered to rescue. We celebrate her birthday 1/1/2023. House trained? Cruz is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight: 52 lbs Height: 18 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $199 Fence needed? No. Cruz gets stressed in physically fenced yards and will chew and pull on the fencing. This may be environmental. Regardless, if your yard is fence this is something to be aware of; he is more comfortable when you are outside in the fenced area with him or better yet- walking beside you as you walk, hike and run.   What kind of home would be best for me? Cruz would do well in an apartment or house, but a house with a yard would be preferable. Cruz gets stressed in physically fenced in yards and will chew and pull on fencing. If you have a yard with fencing he is more comfortable when you are outside in the fenced in area with him. Cruz has some social skills, but he needs to work on them and develop others. He needs a devoted adopter who will be home with him most of the time. Cruz needs taught his basic commands and how to walk on a leash. A home with another dog will provide Cruz with a buddy to learn from and model behaviors as he develops into a good dog and life-long companion.  What is my personality like? Cruz was found running the fence line of our rescue, trying to get in. He is a happy, bouncy boy, a puppy at heart. He has tons of young energy and is always on the go. Cruz needs a large backyard or lots of daily exercise and could benefit from mental stimulation when he isn’t actively exercising (snuffle mats, lick mats, puzzle toys, etc.). He loves to play with anybody who will attention to him. Cruz wants his own human(s), someone who will be home with him all, or most of the day. Pets, chin scratches and belly rubs make Cruz smile. He has some dog friends here and, like all of us, has some dogs he likes and some he does not.  We are not sure of how he will do with cats. Once you train and socialize Cruz it will bring out the best in him. Cruz will be a loyal companion to the human who makes him the center of his or her world. Cruz doesn't believe that's asking too much. We are certain over time he will develop into a wonderful life-long companion that will bring smiles to both your faces. How do I act when I first meet new people? Friendly. Cruz is happy to see people and love being love on.  Other tips and tidbits: Cruz showed up at our rescue as a stray. We have absolutely no history on him. Our vet estimates his birth date to be on or about 4/1/2023. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Questions?  Email: cprsosdogs@carolinapoodlerescue.org I love my Virtual Adopters! VICTORIA A Why am I with a rescue group? Nadine was found as a stray and landed at a rural shelter. Whatever life was before rescue, it was not kind. Nadine is very shy, avoids eye contact and stays as far from people as possible, but will eventually warm up a little. Treats won't help, only time and a loving, patient person. Nadine came to us with heartworms. She has been treated and as of March 2020 is testing negative!  Nadine is a sweet and shy soul. She seems very leery of men, and slightly leery of women at first. She was obviously maltreated before finding us, and that has affected her ability to trust. She does everything in her power to stay very far from strangers in her area. She doesn't bite, but will scamper away or cowers and rolls over on her back. Her eyes cry "love me", but her body language screams "please don't hurt me again". She will warm up to people, but it is a very slow process for men.  Women seem to have an easier time getting her to trust them. With the caregivers she knows, she greats them with a wagging tail and even does a little "happy dance". It takes time for her to trust, but it is worth it. Nadine has tons of potential for the right person willing to give her a chance. She will need a lot of training on a leash, as she does not cooperate on one, and stairs are totally foreign to her. She had to be carried up them like a baby. Nadine won't play with toys at first. In time, she may start to play, but that won't happen until she feels safe and loved in her own environment. She does play with them here at the farm. She will eventually eat treats, but not from your hand or while you look at her at first. Our caregivers have earned her trust and now she takes them gently from their hands. She does seem to really enjoy when you baby talk to her, and she LOVES to rub her belly on the grass. When a dog violates her comfort zone, she will growl to let them know. Once she gets comfortable with you, she will rest her snout in your hands to let you love on her.  Nadine finds comfort in the routine of Dreamweaver Farms. She knows and trusts her caregivers and is a loving dog toward people that have earned her trust. Nadine does have a high pray drive - no cats or small dogs for this girl. Nadine knows she is safe, well fed, has a warm bed, and will never be mistreated again as a member of our sanctuary program.
