Story
Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617Behavior Profile Color(s): BlueBlue—Has an energetic and boisterous nature.Could she do well with kids? Yes, with children around 12 years old, on a kid-by-kid basis.Could she do well with other dogs? Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---What volunteers have to say about this animal: Bess is beautiful and has a beautiful shiny coat of fur. There is nothing more she likes than playing with a tennis ball. She loves to play this game where you throw the ball and she’ll retrieve it and wants you to throw it again. She just loves being outside and enjoys going for walks and swimming in a pool. She’s a sweet girl that’s fun to be around. She rides great in the car and her favorite adventure is to take a ride to get some ice cream. Her big beautiful smile is so infectious and her happy spirit is so heartwarming to be around.---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Bess is an energetic and lovely young girl who enjoys walks. She`s a joy to be around while she pulls on the leash and jumps due to excitement. She`s good with handling from her owner but doesn`t like her hindquarters or back feet touched much. She shows no signs of resource guarding.Bess is social and knows basic cues like `sit` and `stay,` but she may need time to understand requests. Her greetings can be jumpy and rough, but they`re friendly. She loves plush squeaky toys and enjoys tug-of-war, requiring a trade to get toys back. While she may startle at new things, she recovers quickly. Her interactions with other dogs can be rude and vocal, as she loves to play. Overall, she`s a playful, lively gal!---For more resources to help with at any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT

Story
Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement—Kennel License #2617Behavior Profile Color(s): BlueBlue—Has an energetic and boisterous nature.Could she do well with kids? Bertha would do well in a home with no children.Could she do well with other dogs? No, we believe she would do best as the only dog in the home.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---What the volunteers have to say about this animal: Bertha is for sure a staff and volunteer favorite! She has one of the biggest personalities you will find and makes everybody laugh and shake their heads all at the same time. While she does enjoy a nice walk each day, she also equally loves being a couch potato; the fluffier blankets she can snuggle and snort in the better. Bertha is working on better manners on being taken out of her kennel and once outside she is all for human affection and quality one on one time. While she will play with a toy or explore the yard at first, her main goal is to be with her people.---Condensed staff assessment notes: Bertha walked to the activity room by her collar from her kennel. She did not try to bite the handlers’ hands or clothes, showing more interest in her environment and other dogs. She tolerated body handling but would use her head to push your hand away when she had enough. Bertha loves to play tug with squeaky and plush toys, but you`ll need to trade with her to get her to drop them. During playtime, she will nudge, nibble, or body slam you. She responds to basic cues like sit, come, and wait. However, if redirected, she often returns to what she was doing previously. During her initial introduction to a human, she approached rather rudely, but her interactions became more appropriate with time. Her dog interactions were rough; she snapped at Zane when he got too close to her nose. Bertha would not give up any smelling area. She wanted to be the one smelling and would be pushy, snapping at Zane‘s nose, and then when she got around to his rear, she snapped at his soft underbelly. Bertha needs to be the only pet in the home. She allowed us to pet her and take her food, continuing to eat while waiting to get it back.---For more resources to help with any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT

Yes, with children around 12 years old on a kid-by-kid basis.Could he do well with other dogs? Yes, on a dog-by-dog basis.Has this dog lived with cats? Unknown. [The Lycoming County SPCA does not “cat test” dogs per the Association of Shelter Veterinarian’s Guidelines for Standards of Care in Animal Shelters.]---What volunteers have to say about this animal: Fog is energetic with excitement when he first gets out of the kennel. He loves romping around in the fenced in yard and loves playing with his favorite toy, an egg shaped jolly ball. He likes to go for walks on trails where he can sniff and occasionally graze on grass. He is very smart and a master at treat puzzles. He enjoys doing training sessions, which help with his anxiety he unfortunately has acquired with living in a shelter setting. He can be shy and aloof when he first meets you, but once he gets to know you, he`s so happy to see you and spend time with you. He loves peanut butter and whipped cream pup cups. He also is a big fan of his frozen treat filled Kongs! He is adorable with the cutest ears, where one is always slightly bent.---Condensed Staff Assessment Notes: Fog is an energetic and playful dog who needs training in leash manners, as he tends to pull and zigzag. He accepts handling well and shows no resource guarding outside his kennel, though he does guard his food and space. Fog knows basic cues like sit, come, wait, and stay and can be gently lowered into a down position. His behavior around people is generally good; he enjoys playing without being overly aggressive, especially with toys like tug-of-war. While he greets strangers appropriately, he may jump lightly and take a few minutes to warm up. He initially greeted another dog rudely but calmed down with correction, showing a strong desire to play. He is stable and recovers quickly from startling, but he requires an active handler.---For more resources to help with at any step of your adoption journey go to: https://go.petadoptiongateway.com/LycomingDT
