We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Lunesta, 6 years old, spayed female, pit bull mix, 55lbs. Lunesta is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! Lulu is a sweet, medium energy kind of gal who loves to play. She is in a foster home with a resident pit bull and a shih tzu, and tries engaging them in play. She would love to have a home with a canine companion to play with her. The resident shih tzu will get barky and nippy at Lulu, and she walks away, ignoring him entirely. Lulu doesn't have much body awareness and will body check the other dogs when playing or when treats come out. She pushes and shoves to the front of the line for a treat, to get the toy or to be the first one out the door. She can also be quite clumsy, sometimes running into the doors or walls because she is so focused on looking back at you. Lulu loves to play but also loves to snuggle up and rest with you, or on her own in the crate or on the couch. She is a sweet cuddle bear and enjoys following you around the house ensuring you are never alone nor under attack from an unseen foe. Going to the kitchen? Lulu's coming too. Need to use the restroom? Good idea, she should join you. Headed outside for some vitamin D? Perfect, that is just what she wanted to do also! Not even joking, Lulu really does love the sun and baking as long as you will let her. Lulu is a toy hoarder. She will sneak and steal the toys from her siblings but is not aggressive of them. As a general rule of the foster, all dogs are fed separately to ensure they eat their own meals but not because anyone resource guards their food. We have no history with cats but when walking her and she sees one, she wants to charge at it. She has been around children ages 10 and up without issue, and we have no reason to think she couldn't be around very young kids as she's not super jumpy or energetic. Typically recommend a home with kids over the age of 10 years, or those who can understand and will respect animal behavior cues. Lulu does need to work on her leash manners as she is all over the place and pulls with the typical pittie energy. A harness or Gentle Leader head collar may yield the best results but Lulu's foster has been working patiently with her on this training. Lulu is nearly fully housetrained but will "go" if it has been too long between her potty breaks. She does not have any accidents overnight in her kennel. Lunesta is crate trained and does very well, sleeping and taking her meals in the kennel, as well as being put up when unable to be supervised. She would do best in a home willing to help her reinforce the basic manners she already has, ensuring a good solid connection through training and structure. She would enjoy a moderately active house with some walks and fetch opportunities, lots of snuggles and cuddles, and possibly another doggy sibling or two. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her? If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Max, 1.5 years old, neutered male, Pitbull mix, 53 pounds. He is in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS and can transport out of State once an adopter is approved. Max was rescued from an overcrowded shelter in Houston. He had this really long tail that did not fit his body and was causing "happy tail." This basically means in all of his excitement his tail would hit anything in site causing it to bleed. The tail is never able to heal and after consulting with a vet we had part of his tail amputated. He has recovered well, but his hair is still growing back on that area. Max spent some recovery time in a boarding facility where he ran his heart out with other dogs. He met allll kinds of dogs- big and little, male and female. He loves to play and run around. There is another dog in the foster home. She tends to be really forward with new dogs and this has made Max a little scared. He does great on walks with her, but in the house he tends to keep his distance. We think he would love another dog to match his personality or would also be okay as the only dog too. As you can imagine, given his younger age he is an energetic guy. He is looking for a home with moderate physical outlets. He enjoys his walks and playtime with his foster parents. He is friendly when passing other dogs on leash. He has come across cats out walking and appears curious. He has not lunged or tried to run after them, but we can't speak to how he would do in a home setting. We have no history with kids and recommend a home with kids 10 years and older. Max walks okay on leash and will pull when he wants to sniff things. He is housebroken and does well when crated. He is a curious and playful dog. He can get a little scared of loud noises or sudden movements. He loves to play fetch and chew on stuffed toys. He rides well in the car, is generally a happy guy always wagging his now nub and excited to see his people. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. Hello, I`m Ozzie! I am a fantastic zoomer; I zoom through the grass yards, zoom around our halls, and zoom right into your heart. I am quite cute of course; who couldn`t love this happy face? I am silly, oh so goofy, always ready to make you laugh and cheer you up. Everyone has a bad day now and again, so I try hard to remind them that there`s always something to smile about...me! I`m a pretty positive guy. I like to look at the world as a treat box half full. Every day I wake up and grin; it`s a beautiful day, I have people who give nice pats and sweet kisses, and a bowl of food in my belly. I try to be pawsitive all the time, but I also dream of what it would be like to be chosen by a family. I have lots of energy and a great brain; the staff love teaching me new things; I know sit, I am crate trained, and I even sit and wait for my food! I don`t really like playing with other dogs, but I adore every moment with my favorite human. I am very smart and enjoy learning new things. I am crate trained and like savoring a tasty kong when relaxing by myself. Life can be up and down, have lots of sits and stays, but it is so much better when you go through it with someone. Come meet me today and let`s wake up tomorrow and take on the world together! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neutering-heartworm testingAdoption fee: $135.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2024 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. Story
Hello! My name is Fred. I am a young fella, full of energy, full of love, with no one to share it with. My life so far included being passed around from home to home, with no one wanting to properly care for me. I was kept in a crate, had no one to play with, and felt very lonely. I was finally recently adopted (yay!) but my owner began having health issues and had to retur me (not so yay). I am a wonderful companion; very bouncy, energetic, playful, and sweet! I do have a prey drive for small animals, so tell your squirrels to watch out! I love chomping on a new treat or learning a new trick with my human. I do need to be the only animal in my home, but I would love a home with lots of people to play with. I will probably be best with older kids or teens and up. I am smart, I am housebroken, and I am full of love. Come meet me today! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Story
Hi there, my name is Alfred. I am entirely too adorable and don`t I know it! I have the sweetest puppy-dog eyes, the waggiest curly tail, and the kindest heart around. I came here as a stray and although my past is a bit of a mystery, my future isn`t...it`s you! You are my future, my happily ever after, my dream come true. I walk excellently on leash, I enjoy the sunshine and hearing about your day, and I have even met other dogs here for canine companionship. I am looking for a home where there are not any children. My next family should also have some pervious dog experience and be willing to do continued training with me. I would love to meet you and share more about myself! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Hello my name is Frank! I am a sweet older man who loves everyone I meet! Honestly, when you first meet me, you would never believe I`m 10! I have the heart and soul of a young dog. I am happy, wiggly, silly, and sweet. I love to spend time with my humans; being by their side is my favorite thing. I prefer a home with teens and adults. I have met dogs here, but can be picky when I choose a new canine friend. I am housebroken and love to check out new toys. If you need someone to sample dog treats, I can definitely do the job! I am full of excitement and fun, and I have so many more adventures to go on. Come meet me today!
