🌟 Meet Minnie: The Warrior of Love! 🌟 Minnie, our resilient pitbull mix, has been waiting far too long for her forever home. Story
This beautiful girl is ready to be the STAR of your life!⭐️ Star is an approximately 5 year old female pittie girl. She is petite in frame and just a sweet, gentle love. She has been THRIVING in her foster home and now she is ready to find a family of her own!😍 This sweet girl loves belly rubs and laying around the house or outside in the sun. She is a BIG fan of stuffed animals and can be found carrying them around the house! Her foster mama has been teaching her how to decipher between kid toys and dog toys but sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference🤪 When asked about Star’s personality, her foster mom says “you will absolutely fall in love with this girl. She is sweet and just wants to be close to you! She is low energy and crate trained, and all she wants in life is a warm bed to lay her head on, and infinite belly rubs.”💕 Star is great with other dogs after proper introductions and has a dominant play style, so she does best with patient playmates who aren’t easily offended😉 She would do well in a home with or without another pup, and would LOVE to have kids in her forever home - she thinks they’re pretty awesome. Star would make the perfect companion for just about anyone willing to give her a chance.🐾 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
This is Ruby!  She was found on the streets of Memphis and a couple days later she had 15 puppies in our rescue. She took great care of her puppies and they are all adopted now. Ruby is a gentle soul. She looks at you with eyes that show appreciation for her life. Her tail is always slowly wagging and she has a happy bark that bounces her whole body. Ruby loves hugs and pets from her humans. She is very sweet and calm most times - but does like to chew on bones and has energy to do short zoomies in the yard. She loves to go for slow walks especially if she gets to sniff along the way. It is entertaining to watch her look for bugs in the grass. She is always jumping back in surprise at  any movement.  She will throw herself down on the grass  and rub her back conv e nien tly exposing her belly for a rub . Ruby likes to be hosed down when it is hot out. Ruby is very smart and is responsive to commands and training. Ruby currently spends her days in an outdoor run and her nights in her crate inside. She is housed next to another female dog who she gets along great with. She likes other dogs but doesn't put up with any silly play.    She is best as an only dog or with an owner with breed specific experience. She is about 6  years old, and weighs 70   lbs.   Ruby has been spayed, is current on her vaccinations and microchipped.  Her adoption fee is $550  and includes her transportation to her new home in PA.  SHE IS IN A LOVING FOSTER HOME IN MEMPHIS, TN AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO HER NEW HOME ONCE ADOPTED!  New Beginnings Animal Rescue uses  a licensed and registered USDA transport company.    If you would like to apply to adopt Ruby, please fill out our online application here:  http://www.newbeginningsanimalrescue.net.  Any questions, please email us at:  newbeginnigs_animalrescue@yahoo.com.   THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING ADOPTING A RESCUED PET! Spot is such a good boy! ❤️ This 1 year old pittie boy is so, so happy. He loves to play with other dogs, and will be a lap dog if you let him! Spot is crate trained and sits at his crate door to wait for food. He was picked up abandoned on a dirt road, but was very friendly to his rescuer. There are special dogs, and Spot is 100% extra special! This sweet boy is heartworm negative and fully vetted including all shots and neuter. Story
Gertie is a little pittie mix who will capture your heart with her underbite and puppy head tilts. She loves other dogs and has learned to respect the cats in her foster home. She loves her foster family as well. She greets each day with a happy heart and the innocent exuberance of a young puppy. She never meets a stranger and enjoys curling with her foster dad at night to watch tv. She plays hard with her doggy friends—runs in the pasture, swims in the pond, chases the ball, etc.—and sleeps hard at the end of the day. In fact, she puts herself to sleep for naps and at night! She adores a car ride and sits politely in her foster mom’s lap to look out the window. She will be a medium size dog when fully grown but she has an extra large heart! Her foster mom says she will make a great family pet or a wonderful companion dog for a couple who leads an active life. “Gertie’s gift,” says foster mom, “is her incredible capacity for love.” If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.cognitoforms.com/DixieGirl1/PetAdoptionApplicationForm2 PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
Age: 10 months Size: 65 lbs Estimated breed: Pit bull/Staffordshire bull terrier Perfect home: Zara has grown up with older kids 12 and older and done well with them. She has lived with cats but enjoys the chase, so needs a cat-free home. She loves the other dogs in her foster home who she's grown up with, but can be wary meeting new dogs, especially super energetic and playful ones. She would do okay with another medium or large dog with a slow introduction and decompression time. She'd also thrive as the only pup in the home! Update from my foster 6/25: Every morning when I am taking 30 seconds to put on my shoes to go outside with the dogs, Zara waits patiently at the door, staring lovingly at me (even after sleeping beside our bed all night). She is so loyal! How could you not smile when you’ve got her little face watching your every move? After a long day of helping me work and playing in the yard, she cuddles up on the couch with all her doggie foster siblings, not leaving any room for the human family members! She is such an easy pup to have around and deserves a family of her own. She’s waited six months already, far longer than all her siblings who joined forever homes months ago. Update from my foster 4/7: Zara is rocking it at her Board and Train! During her first week, we were helping her understand expectations and boundaries when it comes to food, bones, play time, and general manners. All the concerns she came with are now in the past and we are focusing on teaching her how to be the best puppy she can be. Which she's already amazing I might add. Seriously......if I were in the market to add to my zoo, Zara would be staying!! She is the best puppy and will make an amazing companion for the right family. Zara has been learning skills such as Sit, Focus, Orienting when called, Walking on leash, and Leave It this past week. Aside from those skills that are strictly verbal, we always start with hand cues and body language. Why? Because dogs don't understand English until it is taught to them. Dogs communicate through body language, so we work with them in ways they best understand before introducing a foreign language. She is super smart and quite the cuddler!   Zara and her family came to us under very sad circumstances. While conducting community outreach and providing straw and dog houses, our southern shelter partner came across mama Zainab and her fives babies, living outside in the middle of winter. Mama was chained up and had a heavy padlock around her collar, weighing her down. She was trying to nurse her five babies while she was already emaciated herself. Volunteers were able to convince the owners to surrender the puppies to them so they could seek immediate veterinarian care. Unfortunately, one of the puppies did not make it, but the remaining four puppies responded well to getting food in their tummies and warming up inside.    The Z litter is now safe in foster care and can't wait to find forever homes! They are super sweet, spunky little puppies. They love playing with each other and are currently in foster care with other dogs, a cat, and children. They are blank slates ready to be shaped and molded into the perfect dog by their forever families! They are looking for families with lots of time and patience to teach them everything a young dog needs to know.    To adopt Zara, please apply on our website! www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.   PA Kennel License #18366July 30, 2024, 10:27 am

Story
Age: 11 months Size: 51 lbs Estimated breed: Pit bull/American Staffordshire terrier mix Perfect home: At least one other dog, no kids under 10 Update from my foster 4/7: Jude is one perfect puppy! He sleeps through the night better than my adult dogs, and I usually have to wake him up and force him to go outside in the morning/evening! He has not had any potty accidents in several months and will go to the door when he needs to go out, though he does get frequent breaks every 2-3 hours to go outside. He is crated when I leave the house and when he eats his meals, and he knows to go into the crate on his own. He sleeps in a dog bed in my bedroom at night and understands that he’s not allowed onto the human bed (the resident chihuahua’s rule, not mine). He is very respectful of all the other dogs in the home and is very submissive to them all. He has a bad habit of chasing the cats in the house but responds immediately when you tell him “no.” He’s not aggressive with them but does enjoy the chase, so if you have cats in the home they would need to be brave and dog-savvy enough to hold their ground and give him a good “boop” when he tries to chase. He is pretty low-key for a puppy but definitely still gets bursts of puppy energy where he will run zoomies in the yard, often throwing his favorite toy around on his own. He loves to fetch and is great about bringing the ball or toy back to you to throw it for him. If I didn’t have my grouchy senior chihuahua, I would definitely be keeping Jude - he is seriously the sweetest, gentlest, most well-behaved foster pup I have ever had the joy of fostering!   Jude was surrendered to the shelter when he was only 5 months old. He was extremely scared in the scary shelter environment, which is no place for a young puppy. Fortunately, a foster stepped up so we were able to get him out of the shelter and into a foster home while he looks for his forever home! Jude is around 7 months old and weighs 35 lbs, so we don’t anticipate he’ll be a super large dog! He is nervous with new people but always sweet with them. He warms up after a day or two and once he does, be ready to have a constant shadow by your side! He shares his foster home with multiple other dogs and cats who he does great with. Due to how shy he is initially, he would be happiest in a home with at least one resident dog to show him the ropes, and no young kids. He does well in his crate overnight and is picking up on house training quickly. He loves playing with other dogs and is a big fan of playing fetch, too! Jude is looking for a patient and loving family who can show him that people aren't so scary and demonstrate what unconditional love looks like!   To adopt Jude, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. Story
Age: 1 year Size: 50 lbs Estimated breed: Pit bull terrier mix Perfect home: No cats, no dogs   Laszlo was surrendered to a local shelter when he was only six weeks old, along with his siblings and his mom. Everyone was extremely malnourished, suffering from skin infections, dehydrated, and lethargic. We were able to get everyone into foster care, and each dog thrived and found forever families of their own!    Now, one month shy of his 1st birthday, Laszlo finds himself being returned to the rescue by the only family he's ever known, and our hearts are absolutely broken for him. Laszlo grew up with two little girls who he loved dearly, and reportedly looked for them whenever they left the house. He grew up with another large male dog, who he played well with, but also got into quite a few scuffles with. From what we can gather, their play would become too intense, causing the dogs to fight. This is an overstimulation issue and can easily be corrected and managed with training, especially since Laszlo was adopted when he was still a puppy. Unfortunately, his family didn't think training was necessary :( During a scuffle with the other resident dog, one of the children in the home tried to separate the dogs (no adults were present for the fight) and got bit.    We got Laszlo back into our care and into a board and train program, where he is excelling! He is super smart and eager to please and picking up on all his basic obedience and leash manners quickly. He would be happiest as the only pup in the home but can pass by other dogs on leash just fine without reacting! He just prefers to be your one and only, soaking up all your love and attention. We’d love to line up a home for him directly after training! As an added bonus, his adopters will receive all three of his follow-up lessons with our professional trainer for free.   We are committed to finding Laszlo a forever home who is as invested in his well-being as we are. After losing the only family he's known, he deserves the absolute best FOREVER home, one who will commit to training, daily exercise and mental stimulation, and plenty of love.    To adopt Laszlo, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age/breed of any of our dogs. Story
Age:  7  months Size: 28 lbs Estimated breed: Pit bull terrier/Whippet mix   “URGENT: Rescue needed by 4pm on 6/16.” As soon as we saw this headline in our email inbox, paired with Ophelia’s little face, we knew what we had to do. We drove straight to Baltimore to save this little lady’s life and boy, are we glad we did. Surrendered to the shelter paralyzed, Ophelia weighed a meager 5 lbs. She was emaciated, her spine and ribs protruding from her little body. She had no use of her hind legs, and in her weakened state, she’s wasn’t able to scoot around at all on her own and struggled to balance in the sitting position. Despite all of this, she remained the sweetest puppy who just wanted to sit on a lap and quietly observe what’s going on around her. Ophelia saw our primary care vet, who referred us to a neurologist specialist in Maryland. After having a CT scan done, Ophelia was diagnosed with a suspected osteochondroma, a non-cancerous bone tumor on her spine. This bony growth on her T6 vertebrae is compressing her spinal cord, causing her hind leg paralysis. The good news - with surgery to remove the growth and intensive physical therapy to rebuild her leg muscles, we’re hopeful Ophelia can regain some mobility! Surgery is also imperative to ensure the osteochondroma does not continue to grow and cause her condition to worsen, i.e. making her incontinent or more immobile. While we fundraise for the surgery (estimated to cost $11,000) and allow Ophelia time to regain weight and strength, she’ll get started with physical therapy to help increase her chances of walking again once the surgery is complete! It’s incredibly easy to fall in love with Ophelia. This girl is a fighter who refused to lay down and die despite the despicable conditions she was surrendered to the shelter in. She’s full of spunk and has no problem letting foster mom know when it’s mealtime! She’s able to walk with the support of a sling around her waist, and will even try to run to keep up with her doggie foster brothers and sisters. She has control over her bladder and bowels and will let you know she she needs to go outside to go potty. She sleeps through the night in a playpen and spends the day alternating between napping on the couch and hanging out in the yard. Ophelia will not be ready to join a forever family until after we address her surgical needs, but we can accept applications now for invested adopters with a soft spot for special needs dogs and who can commit to Ophelia’s follow-up care. To adopt Ophelia, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age/breed of any of our dogs. Story
Age: 1 year Size: 55 lbs Estimated breed: Pit bull/Am Staffordshire terrier Perfect home: At least one other resident dog   Sister was surrendered to an overcrowded, rural shelter along with her sister, who was nursing five newborn babies, and an adult male dog. Sister was the most terrified of the whole group and sat shaking like a statue at the back of her kennel. She was in what we call shelter shock - surrounded on all sides by barking dogs, with nothing but a cold, hard floor to lay on, without the comfort of her doggie family. Dogs like Sister do not survive in a shelter environment for long, so we jumped into action and got her into the safety of a foster home in PA!    Sister is quite simply, a perfect dog. She is very shy and timid at first meeting with people but opens up very quickly and bonds strongly to her people! She shares her foster home with cats and dogs and does amazing with them. Doggie pals give her confidence, so she'd do best in a home with at least one other friendly dog for her to bond with. One look into her soulful eyes and you'll fall in love with Sister just like we have. We can't wait to see her in a loving forever home with a family who will love her unconditionally!    To adopt Sister, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. Story
Beautiful, Inside and Out! That’s me, I’ve been named appropriately, “Bella”. If I do say so myself, I am “Beautiful” as my name means in 8 different languages. As a 5 year old Lab/pit bull terrier mix weighing approx. 40#.  I have what it take to be a great companion. The young “Chippies” have nothing over me. I’ve learned from the best and eager to please. Crate trained, house trained and leash trained, there is a lot that can be said for a “Mature” girl with a HUGE HEART for her people. “What else can we do together to pass the time and bond?”, you ask. Well, let me tell you. This time of year SWIMMING is my #1 love next to my person. Then there is Playing Fetch. Finally, Playing Fetch that includes, you guessed it, SWIMMING!!!!! As the weather cools, I also love the “GFAW” words.. what’s that?? “Go For A Walk”. Then there is the “GFAR”. Have you guessed what that means? “Go For A Ride”, could split a "Pup-a-Chino"! Ok, I think you are getting the handle of my personality. Then the finale test is “TANWMP”. What? YIKES! Do I have you stumped???? “Take A Nap With My Person”! Ha, Ha, Ha!!!! Life is Good! I do have a down side I must admit. My past was not always kind. Although I have been around other dogs, I sometimes am unpredictable due to my unknown history. So, I need to be a single dog to love and cherish my owners by myself and a fenced yard to ensure no mishaps occur with other dogs. I can walk past other dogs and remain VERY WELL BEHAVED, but for some reason, I just don’t tolerate living or spending time with other dogs. I ENJOY “MY PEOPLE” and “WANT THEM ALL TO MYSELF”! Guess that makes me a “People Pleaser”!!! So there you have it.. I didn’t hold back my true self, hide my flaws or pull any paw punches. I am “Bella”, a simple gal that is a LMP - “Love My People” ATMS - “All To My Self” kind of Gal!  Bella has been spayed and is ready for a home of her own. The adoption fee is $275  To submit an adoption application, visit mollysplacerescue.org. Fill the form out completely, print, scan and email back to mollysplace@verizon.net. Story
Meet Queen (nicknames: Queen Bean, and Queen of the Beans) Queen is a gentle, loving mama whose puppies have all found homes—now it’s her turn to shine! She’s the perfect companion, great with dogs, cats, chickens, kids—basically anyone she meets! Playful and silly, especially with other dogs, her short-legged zoomies will have you laughing in no time. But most of the time, she’s so quiet and low-maintenance, you might forget she’s even there. Well, until you catch sight of her forever wiggle butt squeezing into spaces she doesn’t quite fit! While she’s still getting the hang of walking on a leash, she’s an excellent riding buddy and loves to be close. Super snuggly but equally happy in her crate, she runs there any time she thinks it’s time to eat! Just don’t let her fool you with her big booty—she’s a bit clumsy and sometimes seems blissfully unaware of her surroundings. Queen’s no jumper either, but her little dance next to the bed will tell you she’s ready to be picked up. And when she decides to join in, forget about personal space—she’ll wedge herself right next to you, but thankfully, she’s not a licker! She just nudges her head into you, rolls onto her back, and throws her feet in the air. If you’re looking for an easy, house-trained, calm but playful young adult who brings joy, cuddles, and plenty of smiles, Queen is your girl! Story
**Meet Spirit!** Spirit is a 1-year-old boxer mix with the most gorgeous blue eyes and a smile that will melt your heart. This sweet boy is very well-behaved and has quickly earned the nickname “Velcro dog” because he loves to stick close to his people. He’s pretty good on a leash and enjoys car rides, although he’s still a bit tentative and needs some encouragement to get in. Spirit is also working on his crate training; while he’s hesitant to enter, he does well once inside and doesn’t have accidents. Spirit is fantastic with children and gets along wonderfully with the 7-year-old in his current foster home. He’s still learning how to play with toys and prefers soft treats over hard ones. If you’d like to be the family that shows Spirit, what love is all about. Spirit is sure to become a loyal and loving companion. Are you ready to give Spirit the forever home he deserves? Story
Meet Sir Brompton! 🐾 Sir Brompton and his Mama Kate are two sweet souls that were found wandering onto the property of a kind-hearted person, most likely abandoned and searching for safety. Brompton, a playful 3-month-old puppy, adores his mama and hates to be away from her, but we know the chances of them finding a home together are slim. As much as he loves her, he’s ready to start a new chapter in a forever home full of love and belly rubs! 💙 This adorable boy is full of playful energy and is the first to flop over for belly rubs as soon as you pet him! Sir Brompton is a bundle of love who will follow you around, gazing up with those big, sweet, yet slightly sad eyes, asking for just a bit more affection. He’s amazing with dogs of all ages and sizes, as well as gentle and affectionate with kids and all visitors. Brompton would make a loyal and loving addition to any family—give him a cozy bed, a few treats, and some love, and he’ll be your most devoted friend. We’d love for Brompton and his mama to find their forever homes. If you can open your heart to this little “sushi roll” of a puppy, he’s ready to fill your days with joy and companionship. 🐶 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.cognitoforms.com/DixieGirl1/PetAdoptionApplicationForm2 PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED.
