Story
Allow us to introduce you to ROSCOE. He is a 2 year old owner surrender to our pound. His owner got into some legal trouble and could no longer care for ROSCOE. ROSCOE is a great dog. He is extremely athletic and loves to run and play. He can chase a ball for as long as you are willing to throw it. He will often bring it back to you, but when he does, it means he wants you to throw it again so he can take off running. ROSCOE is housebroken and neutered, and is extremely treat motivated to please. His rabies vaccine is current but his DHLPPC will need to be updated. This boy is active and would do best with an energetic family, but ROSCOE likes to cuddle up and snuggle too. He is good with kids and seems fine with the other dogs at the pound, but a meetngreet will be necessary. He will be protective of those he loves and will alert you to anyone coming around. Harrison County Dog Pound, 82900 Toot Rd. Cadiz, OH 43907 Open: Monday-Friday 10am-4pm; Saturday 9am-2pm; Closed Sundays and holidays. Out of state adoptions welcomed. Applications are available at the pound and online at harrisoncountydogpoundvolunteers, org. Apple users must access our website and submit application using Google, not Safari. $40 adoption fee.

Story
Meet Tonka, a sweet and lovable puppy looking for his forever home! Tonka is incredibly smart, eager to please, and quick to learn, making him a joy to train. He’s also very observant and attentive, always ready to bond with his humans. Due to past experiences, Tonka cannot be around cats, so a cat-free home is a must. While he can adapt to a kennel, he’s much happier when he’s free to explore and interact. We believe he may have come from a puppy mill and spent a lot of time kenneled, so he deserves a home where he can thrive and feel secure. His tail was broken 4 times so had it amputated, he is much happier for it. It’s heartbreaking to rehome him. Tonka has so much love to give and would be the perfect fit for someone ready to give him the care and attention he needs. If you think you’re the right match for Tonka, let’s connect!

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Loki. I'm about 1 1/2 years old and I weigh about 60 lbs. I was taken in by the pound after my owner went to jail and his family member dumped me out. I am a very sweet girl, but I wasn't looked after well by my previous owner. Some basic training and consistency would do me a world of good. I am a very sweet and affectionate girl with people. I can be a bit on the timid side when I first meet you, but once I get to know you, I am awesome. I get along great with most other dogs, but I will need a home without cats. I am very clean in my kennel here at the pound and I appear to be housebroken. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Memphis. I'm about 2 years old and I weigh about 46 lbs. I was seized by the pound after being found outside in a crate. It was storming outside and I had been placed under the downspout, so all of the rain water was gushing into my cage. I was cold, scared and unable to escape the cage. I was so happy to be rescued from that. I was a little scared at first when I met the nice lady that took me away from there, but I have been such a sweet boy here at the pound. My personality is blossoming and I can't wait to find a loving new family to join. I have been good around the other dogs that I've met here at the pound and I like to play. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me! **Due to the conditions I was removed from and the fact that my previous owners keep attempting to get me back via having someone else adopt me for them, a background check may need to be done prior to me being adopted/ taken home by you, but I promise that I'm worth the wait!" **WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. My name is Sampson. I'm about 7 years old and I weigh about 65 lbs. I was taken by the pound after MULTIPLE issues of my owner neglectfully letting me run the neighborhood. I am not a mean dog, but when I ran, I would bark and it would scare people and make them think I was being mean. I would also chase cats and cause issues with some other pets in the neighborhood, so it was understandably an issue. My owner failed to even attempt to rectify any of the issues. After making my way in, there were also statements made by people who knew me and my previous owner and they stated that though he did treat me okay for the most part, there were also times he would beat and kick me and they begged the pound to make sure I wasn't returned to him or anyone that was associated with him to help keep me from ending up in a situation like that again. Here at the pound, I have been an absolutely excellent boy. I do best if I am either leash walked or kept on a tie out when I am outside because I will get out of the outdoor kennels here at the pound and would likely get out of fenced yards if I am unsupervised, but I am content just lounging in the sunshine on my tie out when I am outside here, so it would be a just fine solution for outdoor/ potty time at home. I get along okay with large female dogs and some males, but I do need a meet and greet to make sure we do okay together prior to being adopted. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. **Due to the situation I was removed from and the fact that my owner has tried getting me back via sending other people to adopt me back for him, I will not be available for same day adoption and a background check will be performed for anyone looking into adopting me.** Our adoption fee is $152.
