Allow us to introduce you to ROSCOE. He is a 2 year old owner surrender to our pound. His owner got into some legal trouble and could no longer care for ROSCOE. ROSCOE is a great dog. He is extremely athletic and loves to run and play. He can chase a ball for as long as you are willing to throw it. He will often bring it back to you, but when he does, it means he wants you to throw it again so he can take off running. ROSCOE is housebroken and neutered, and is extremely treat motivated to please. His rabies vaccine is current but his DHLPPC will need to be updated. This boy is active and would do best with an energetic family, but ROSCOE likes to cuddle up and snuggle too. He is good with kids and seems fine with the other dogs at the pound, but a meetngreet will be necessary. He will be protective of those he loves and will alert you to anyone coming around. Neika is a 2 year-old sweetheart who was surrendered to Pet Search. She weighs approximately 50 pounds. She is house broken, and can ring a bell when she wants to go outside. She is very energetic, loves to play and snuggle and walks well on a leash with a gentle lead collar. After being adopted, she came back to us--she became the alpha/protector at her new home, which resulted in being aggressive with smaller dogs. She needs an alpha owner willing to work with her on impulse and leash control. (Pet Search can recommend a trainer who has been working with her.) We recommend a fenced yard, lots of play time, and a home with no young children because of her energy level. Neika is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Leo says, “Don’t mistake my wrinkled brow for worry. With my looks and joyful personality, I’ve got nothin’ to worry about.” Meet Leo, a transfer from the overcrowded shelters in WV. Leo already knows his "sit" and “down” commands. Estimated to be just about a year old and around 50 lbs., Leo loves to fetch and is learning to exchange the ball for a treat. During his first opportunity to move up in the world, he joined a couple and their cats, but the over-exuberant Leo began typical teenage antics landing nips and bites on his caretakers' arms (although he did not exhibit that behavior at the shelter or with volunteers) and upsetting the dynamic with the cats. We always learn more when people give a dog a try and with what was gleaned, there are no cats in Leo's future and he needs an experienced person who can work with him and his overly - exuberant behavior. He loves to sniff and hunt for critters in our fields around the shelter, and that seems to be more enriching than a boring walk!

This beautiful girl was rescued by law enforcement alongside two other dogs and is now eagerly searching for her forever family. At 3 to 4 years old, Katie is up-to-date on her vaccinations and, thankfully, has tested negative for Lyme disease. She’s also been vaccinated to stay protected. Recently, Katie recovered from a severe skin infection caused by fleas, and after all she’s been through, she now has a hernia at her spay incision. We’ll be taking care of this for her after Thanksgiving. Katie has a gentle, loving nature despite her challenging past. She’s a pro with cats and can often be found lounging with about ten of them in the shelter’s main room. She also loves car rides and is a calm, patient travel companion—even during long vet visits!
