Story
Shawnee loves food and will do tricks for treats! This guy is impossibly cuddly and loves to be wherever the people are -- so much so that he has quite a bit of confinement anxiety. He can be a bit timid and jumpy with new sounds and sights, but we imagine Shawnee hasn't see much of the world yet. Shawnee was found as a stray, so his history is a mystery. He is extremely motivated by food and should be very easy to teach. The best kind of home for Shawnee: Shawnee is anxious and could greatly benefit from obedience training and confidence building. We do not know if he has been around small children, but he tested well with cats. Shawnee does well with select dogs who do not retaliate when he gets a little overstimulated. He should, however, be fed separately because of the intensity of his food drive. He loves to play chase with other dogs, but sometimes he gets too excited. He needs the right dog companion to balance that excitement level or to be the only dog in the home.

Story
Willow is brand new to rescue, so we are getting to know her. But we already know she is going to be so much fun for her future family. Willow loves people of all ages and previously played well with other dogs. She can be reactive on a leash and will need help learning leash manners. Willow loves to play and go for walks. Her favorite game is tug or fetch, and she will play with anyone willing! The best kind of home for Willow: Willow would do best in a home ready for an active dog. She loves to play and will need help learning to manage reactivity on a leash. Our behavior staff can help potential adopters with resources and ways to do just that. Willow is a very social, happy dog who will make a great adventure buddy!

Story
Bruce is one silly guy. He may be standoffish upon first meeting, but Bruce really gets excited to see the people he knows and loves. Car rides are his favorite activity, and he loves to go for long-line walks and learn new tricks for treats. His previous family said he did well with male dogs, but we would need to test any potential dog siblings with this guy. Bruce is always very happy to see a familiar face and will wiggle to greet someone he knows.  The best kind of home for Bruce: Bruce is a very sweet dog who will thrive in a home with some structure. He was previously adopted and returned after displaying some odd behaviors, none of which we have seen in the shelter. Our behavior staff can help interested adopters set Bruce up to win with more information about how to manage his quirks and avoid problematic behaviors. He would do best in a home without children and should meet any other dog in the home before adoption.

Story
Terrier Mix. What a hunk! Opie is one we have never seen before. With his gorgeous red coat, black tipped tail, and cute little face, Opie stands out from the rest! Opie is a Kentucky boy at heart but has made Ohio home for now. He is open to new adventures and opportunities and hopes one day someone will make one of those come true. Opie is very intelligent, and it shows, making him one of the smartest dogs at HSAC. Opie knows basic commands and is very capable of learning more. Opie loves to play with toys, especially the ones he can shred so he will need an owner that doesn’t mind picking up after him from time to time. This dog can spend hours laying out in grass or going on walks. He needs an active owner and someone who would enjoy taking Opie along for adventures. He plans to see the world! Can you be that someone who can make his dreams come true?If you would be interested in giving me a furever home, please contact The Humane Society of Adams County, Inc. at (937) 544-8585 to set up a time to come meet me and fill out an adoption application!

Story
Terrier Mix is one beautiful brindle! Just look at that face too! Saivyer came from a home with his brother Atticus, where they lived with other dogs. Saivyer is a sweet boy who loves a lot of attention but also can be the perfect guard dog for a home. He enjoys his time with humans and can spend his whole day hanging out. Saivyer loves toys and yummy treats. He shows no sign of food aggression. He doesn’t care for small animals much so he would have to be watched. Saivyer can be selective towards other dogs, so we require meet and greats for the animal's safety. Meet and greats are necessary and encouraged when adopting into a home with house mates. Saivyer is a wonderful dog that can be misunderstood at times but is hoping there is someone out there that will take a chance on him. He can have separation anxiety if not worked with. Atticus is ready for adoption! If you would be interested in giving me a furever home, please contact The Humane Society of Adams County, Inc. at (937) 544-8585 to set up a time to come meet me and fill out an adoption application!

Terrier Mix that has the soul of a puppy but can be the perfect guard dog for a home. Atticus came from a home with his brother Saivyer and multiple dogs but can be selective towards others.
