Story
Hi, I'm Ruger! I'm a 2 year old pitty mix. I love playing and running around with my friends! I love dogs of all sizes and I seem to like cats, too! I've been here since I was a puppy (I came here in August of 2022!) so I can be a bit shy with new people but I am so sweet and loving when I know you! I love cuddles and pets! I would do best in a home without small children because I don't understand how big I am and I may knock over small children when I'm running and playing. I find strange men to be really scary but I'm trying really hard to work on that. I may do best in a home without men or at least a home who is willing to help me overcome that. I have lots of energy so I will need someone who will give me lots of exercise! I love swimming in my pool when it's hot out! I really like car rides and I would love to ride away with you!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Georgia! This delightful pup wagged her way into our hearts on March 25, 2024, arriving from the local dog pound. Initially a bit timid, Georgia quickly adapted and now radiates boundless puppy enthusiasm, approaching each day as an adventure waiting to unfold. With her insatiable curiosity and infectious joy, every walk is a lively escapade! Georgia is not only spirited but also incredibly affectionate. Petite and lean, she loves playtime and cuddles. She does well with adults and kids, and while she’s done fine on a leash around cats, she may be tempted to chase them—it’s hard to know for sure. Georgia enjoys running along the fence with her neighbor dogs and may thrive with a male dog or a non-dominant female, as she prefers not to be dominated. One of Georgia's cutest traits is her endearing head tilt when you talk to her, as though she’s genuinely trying to understand every word. Despite her Lyme-positive diagnosis, Georgia responded well to treatment, is symptom-free, and fully Lyme-vaccinated. She’s up-to-date on all her health needs and ready for a life filled with growth, discovery, and love. With her beauty, charm, and big heart, Georgia is eagerly waiting to become a beloved member of a forever family. Are you ready to open your heart and home to this remarkable pup? Story
Oliver is a male, born 11/1/24 is a pittie/lab mix pup. He is absolutely adorable and is thriving in his foster home! In foster care, Oliver is working on the puppy basics of housebreaking, crate training, leash walking and general obedience but that will need to continue with his new, forever home. He is very young and new to exposures in the world, so he currently does well with other dogs, cats and dog educated children - continued exposure and socialization will be key for this guy as it is for any other young, influential puppy! Oliver is a very playful and energetic puppy and new adopters need to be aware that they will need to work with him for future success - we will be available to help give guidance and answer any questions or concerns as needed. He would do very well in a home with other dogs or kiddos to play with and burn off some steam! To meet Oliver please FIRST apply on our website for approval: https://www.theroadhomeanimalproject.org/companion-adoption-form-pdf.htmlOliver's adoption fee is $450, which includes his deworming, neuter at our vet, vaccines (which include DHLPPC, Lyme, Bordetella & Rabies) and microchip with lifetime registration. If you are out of area and the pup has yet to be neutered at time of adoption, adoption fee will be less, and you will be contracted to complete vetting with proof being provided to the rescue.*Note: please DO NOT apply if you are unsure about adopting a puppy. Yes, they are adorable and fun, but they also require a lot of work and full commitment by all family members. Thank you!***100% of adoption fees go back to the animals and help provide for medical care for our rescues that need specialized medical care and surgeries. Please remember that we are a board of entirely volunteers that have full time jobs as well as our rescue passion. So, be patient with us and check out our Facebook page for more information and photo updates:facebook.com/trhap2014Apply at https://theroadhomeanimalproject.org/companion-adoption-form/

Story
Betty is a beautiful 3-1/2 year old female American Pit Bull Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on August 2, 2023 by a Good Samaritan who found her on Brandy Drive in Marietta Ohio. Betty was accompanied by her best friend Veronica who is most likely her sister. Neither Betty nor Veronica were wearing a collar, and they were not microchipped. Betty has a black short smooth coat with an over-sized white bib on her chest, a long tail, and a pretty face with a narrow white stripe on her forehead, a chubby muzzle, and short floppy ears. Betty was 'in a family way' when she entered our shelter and is very pregnant. We anticipate that she will be giving birth to several babies in the near future. Her bestie/sister Veronica is the self-appointed mid-wife since she is always as close to Betty as possible. Betty weighs 75 lbs. Thanks to HSOV Volunteer Tracy Moore for taking Betty & Veronica outdoors (together of course) so that they could have updated glamour photos taken on August 11th. We had taken preliminary photos in their kennel a few days after they arrived, and they were snuggled up close to each other on their large blanket-covered kuranda bed. We had late-breaking news soon after we posted Betty's Petfinder 'baby bump' photos on the evening of August 13, 2023 and will include a birth announcement: Betty gave birth to six healthy puppies. All of the babies and momma Betty are doing well ... And "Aunt Veronica" is also doing well. UPDATE: Four of Betty's babies survived but, sadly, two of the puppies passed away during the month of September 2023. Her four remaining puppies (Curie, Einstein, Franklin, and Newton) have thrived and are happy, playful youngsters who will soon be leaving for their new homes. Betty has been separated from her puppies, and she is ready to begin the next chapter of her life. She will be spayed in the near future and will soon be looking for a fabulous home of her very own. Betty was spayed on September 9, 2024 and was also given rabies vaccine.
