Story
Poor sweet Grace hasn't had the luckiest start to life. Recently, her owners moved away and left her behind. Because of the incident, Grace is very slow to trust people, but she wants to. She wags her tail when you talk to her, and eventually she will flop over for you so you can rub her belly. She is very shy, so she will need a patient and understanding adopter to meet her where she is at. Before deciding to adopt, please make sure you are ready for a 12-15 year commitment. Too many people jump into adopting with good intentions because they see a cute photo. Suddenly they get home with the puppy and realize they are in over their heads and the only one that suffers is the dog. If you're ready to potty train, if you're ready to lose sleep, if you don't mind things getting chewed up around the house and if you work full time and have someone willing to come over during the day to let them out, then take the next step today! (8-10 hours alone for a puppy is not fair at this age and makes it much harder to potty train) This puppy has been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, flea treated and dewormed which is included in the $275 adoption fee.

Story
Mercedes was adopted from us 5-1/2 yrs ago but recently returned due to high separation anxiety. She is approximately 7 yrs old and is a Mastiff/Boxer mix. She lived with another large dog and did ok.....but is not good with small dogs. She was recently surrendered back to us, primarily due to her high separation anxiety---she does NOT like to be left alone. She is medicated to help with the issue. Mercedes loves to go for walks and be near and with her people. She would do best in a home where she is either the center of attention and/or her owner is home a lot. 8/1/2023---Mercedes is now enrolled in our prison training program.  Anyone interested in her must contact us via email to set up a time to meet her.  She is not at the shelter.....all meetings will occur at the prison once an appointment is scheduled.   Morrow County Dog Shelter, Mt. Brooklyn is approximately 4 yrs old.  She can be shy with new people at first but if given time she warms up and enjoys attention. We are unaware of how she is with kids and cats.  She should meet any new dog before adoption is approved and a decision is made. She does have accidents in her kennel so she may need housetrained.  She does know some commands and will work for food. Flash is a 1 yr old Pitbull/Boxer mix.  He is fearful and concerned over new people so patience is necessary with him. We suspect this may be a reaction to being abandoned. He was removed from a property after being left alone for several days.  He is playful and loves snacks.  He will walk ok on leash but does pull some.  Flash is young and will need some basic obedience but he does already know some commands. As part of the adoption process we require all dogs to meet your current dogs before adoption is approved. Anyone interested should stop in to meet him and complete an application if interested. Winston is approximately 18 months to 2 yrs old and around 42 lbs. He is Neutered, tested negative for heartworm, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped.   He can be selective of his doggy friends so he MUST meet all new housemates. To his defense the shelter is overwhelming and loud so part of his behavior could be the environment------so the need to meet all new housemates is a requirement to verify he will be ok in a home with another dog.   We do NOT know how he is with children or cats.
