We have an "alpha" type herding dog of our own that does not usually play the best with other dogs. After one night with Possum, we knew we HAD to foster him. He was so calm with our dog and our cat, and did not want to do much other than sleep. My dog will try to get him to play and when she is successful, he is so kind and plays so gently. Possum just wants to be your weighted blanket. He loves a warm, comfy space to rest his big ol’ head. He is truly a gentle giant. He is fully potty trained and does not have any resource guarding issues. Possum gets a little protective around new men but warms right up. If you are looking for a loyal companion for your other dog or even just for yourself, consider Possum, He is such a cuddly friend. To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org December 18, 2024, 1:19 pm

She loves going for car rides and is a very well mannered little lady in the car! 12/9/24 Building Volunteer Feedback: Mochi is shy and scared in her big ol kennel just waiting for her forever family to help her feel secure and make sense of the world. Mochi can be left with toys and won't destroy them, but will play a great game of Operation if you sit with her. She won't eat the fuzz and will carefully remove that tricky sqeaker! She likes to catch the toys you toss to her and is getting more comfortable with scratches and snuggles. I think Mochi would do awesome in a home calmly snuggled into a pillow on the floor, just being around people. The sweet little dear will probably come out of her shell if just given the opportunity.  11/4/24 Building Volunteer Feedback: Mochi is currently staying at our shelter for about two weeks at the time of writing this little feedback blurb. While Mochi can take a moment to warm up to new people, but she is very modest about it.  She is very treat motivated and appreciates a little snack when doing so. I can personally see her coming out of her shell quicker as everyday progresses, on an average day she will meet 5/6 new volunteers. Mochi is a very quiet dog in her kennel at the shelter; she just waits patiently for her turn for her walk with the volunteer, while the other dogs make themselves heard and seen. As of now, Mochi is going to need slow introductions with other dogs and the routine of a new home. She spent 5 days or so at a volunteer's home on a break and was able to get some time with that volunteer's pack, otherwise she did very well gated-off and took it slowly. I would imagine Mochi would appreciate dogs with somewhat of her easy-going demeanor, vs dogs that want to rough house all day long.  As Mochi stays with us we are hopeful she will continue to progress, specifically if she gets into foster care. This particular dog is very tough to get to "know" at the shelter. Hopefully we can have some foster home feedback available at some point, but if not please apply to foster her. There will be lines of dogs much like Mochi just needing the safety and time of a foster home to thrive. Please consider bringing this sweetie into your home!  To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org December 18, 2024, 1:19 pm

If you are thinking of adopting a puppy, it's a good idea to research these costs before adopting by calling the veterinarian of your choice.  ** Origami has a small umbilical hernia. If it is present at the time of the neuter it will need to be repaired at the adopter's expense. It will likely add about an additional $100 or so to the cost of the neuter, depending on the vet clinic. Origami will make you fall in love with him immediately   Foster Home Feedback  12/4/24 Foster Feedback: Origami is growing very fast and food-motivated.  We use a slow feeder for meals. He has mastered going up and down the stairs. He will go in his kennel with a treat and sleeps in there at night or when we're away from home. We are working on potty training, he isn't a fan of the cold weather lately, so we keep training pads handy. He plays well with our other foster pup and friend's dog. He has done really well with going to events and meeting new people. He wasn't fazed by the door bell or our family members at Thanksgiving. Origami is till very much a puppy and we are mindful of what he is chewing on, everything is interesting - especially fuzzy items. Origami loves a good nap and is an expert at cuddles. 11/1/24 Foster Feedback: Origami is thriving! He definitely has puppy energy, loves to eat, sleep and play. Everything is a chew toy! He really digs anything with soft fuzzies from blankets, pillows to slippers. He's had his vaccinations, wellness check and was microchipped this week. We learned Origami has an umbilical hernia that will need to be repaired at the time of neutering. He's transitioning from soft food to kibble.  He eats fast so a slow feeder is a must with supervision. Potty training includes pee pads and he is now cleared for outdoor time. Origami sleeps in a pen with his teddy bear. We leave a sleep machine on with white noise for nighttime. He usually sleeps till 6:30 am, requires morning cuddles before work.  We work from home, so Origami is a bit spoiled with not being in his pen till bed time or when we're out and about. He’s done well being in his pen for about 5-6 hour time  periods.   To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org December 18, 2024, 1:19 pm

Story
I got Bleu from a small city in Wisconsin when he was only about 3 months. He is 2 years old now - I celebrate his birthday in February ! Im hoping to find a fun home for Bleu. Somewhere preferably with a large backyard. He likes to run around a lot! He’s full of energy, loves to be rubbed on, acts like a big baby. He loves being around people and is even okay with just being able to sit and lounge around while everyone talks. He absolutely LOVES attention. He enjoys long walks & being able to sleep in the bed. He is very strong , very loving, very protective. He’s really good around kids , very gentle and will usually just curiously watch & lay with the them. He’s good around other dogs - he was homed with my family’s boxer, Frenchie, and pug and he only ever wanted to play! But one of my favorite traits is that he’s very welcoming .

He has been with me for a couple weeks now and I have learned so much about him! He is a lover dog and just wants to be next to his humans - he will be your shadow! Even more, he aims to please and luckily, he is a fast learner. One day in our foster home and he learned to sit by the patio door when he is ready to go outside for a bathroom break and has picked up on queues from our resident dog. We are continuing to work on his manners as he is always curious to see if anything has been left behind for him on the countertops.  He kennels GREAT while we are gone for the day, which ranges from 5-8 hours. He does require moderate stimulation and exercise or can get wound up with zoomies by the end of the night. He walks great and can be easily redirected when he sees other dogs walking with small training treats and tongue clicks/noises.  He does best with dogs smaller (in size) than him and would do great with another dog to play and wrestle with. Controlled introduction between Mayor and other dogs has been the best experience thus far, as he gets overstimulated and worked up when he meets other hyper dogs. We do not have a fenced yard at our foster home, but I do think it would be in Mayor's best interest to have a fenced yard to free roam. He is mostly self-entertained with lots of stuffy toys, feeder puzzles, filled bones/Kongs/etc.  Mayor is going to make an amazing and loving addition to a family and has SO much room to grow into specific training skills and is already showing flexibility in various work schedules. Take a chance on this handsome fellow - you will be so happy you did!  &#226&#128&#139 To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org December 18, 2024, 1:19 pm

She is a sweet, playful little goofball. Katya loves playing with her foster brothers by chasing them around and wrestling- she definitely has a lot of personality. Her foster brothers don't have as much energy as her so she entertains herself often too. She enjoys playing fetch and chewing on toys and bones; she sticks to doggy-approved items and hasn’t tried chewing on anything she shouldn’t! With that being said, she is still a pup in that mouthy phase, so she does nibble on us humans when playing, but we are working on redirecting that and she does well!  We do call Katya our little bowling ball. She has the beefiest little body with short stubby legs. Her ears do the cutest little ‘one-up/one-down’ thing. You will fall in love with her cute stature immediately.    Katya has been doing great with pottying outside. She had a couple accidents within the first two days with us but you can’t blame a girl when she hadn’t learned where the bathroom was yet. I monitor her and get her outside regularly, and she seems to know that going outside means treats! She’s a smart lady that wants to please you and work for treats. With her young age, she’s still working on fine tuning her manners, such as jumpiness, but that seems to occur out of excitement and she understands quickly how to fix it. She’s our little shadow and trots around the house and yard wherever we go.    Katya is such an enjoyable little pup. She is a 40-lb lap dog who loves snuggling. Since she is new to us and we are working on training, we kennel her while we are gone and at night. She’d love to snuggle all night in bed and does nap in bed like a champ when she gets the chance. She doesn’t seem to love her kennel, but is quiet all night long and while we are at work. She just gives you sad puppy eyes going in - she’s whined for 30-60 seconds on a couple of occasions.  Someone is going to be very lucky to take this little love home and make her part of their family. &#226&#128&#139 To view additional dogs available for adoption, please see our website: www.4luvofdog.org December 18, 2024, 1:19 pm
