Story
This beautiful 4-year-old, 60-pound grey Pit Bull Terrier is all about love! Lovey is fully vaccinated, crate and house trained, and is ready to find her special family. Lovey adores her people and would make an amazing companion for anyone looking for a loyal, affectionate dog. With her loving nature, she could easily be a great running or hiking partner, as she has the energy and enthusiasm for outdoor adventures. However, Lovey has made it clear that she prefers to be the Queen of the home—she’s happy to be the only dog and doesn't mind sharing walks with other dogs, but she’d rather not have to share her space at home. Lovey is well-trained and knows commands like “sit,” “stay,” and “place.” She’s obedient, listens well, and is a joy to have around. She’s also perfectly fine being left alone while you're at work—she’ll just hang out and wait for your return, showering you with love when you get home. If you’re looking for a loving, loyal dog who would thrive as the only pet and be your best friend for hikes, runs, or lazy days at home, Lovey might be the perfect fit for you! If you are interested in adopting Lovey, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age. **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. November 13, 2024, 3:09 pm

Story
Sassy is approximately a 7 year old pitbull mix weighing about 60lbs. She is fully vaccinated and now looking for her forever family. She’s been with her foster mom and trainer Lilly now for 9 months. Can you believe she’s had zero applications?  Sassy loves people and loves to be close by and be pet. She’s loved to cuddle up on the couch or on her dog bed. She is easily entertained with bully sticks, benebones, and toys. She loves to sunbathe in the backyard and lay where ever the sun hits and will gladly accept a belly rub while doing so. She is crate trained, house trained, and sleeps quietly in the crate any time needed. She rides well in the car in a car kennel. She has a goofy personality with lots of silly behavior that will keep you laughing all day. She has done well with all the dogs she has met and been with.  She loves meal times and will come in from outside doing her "bunny hops". Look out for her classic "sassy" lip smack. She is very gentle when taking treats and knows most basic commands. She's doing well with bath time and grooming. She loves going for car rides and taking walks to sniff all the new smells. Car rides and walks are definitely high on her list of favorite things (besides snacks). She is also working on other commands like place, here, heel and wait. She does well passing other dogs and gets along well with other dogs in the house.  Sassy has high prey drive for small critters like rabbits or wildlife, so she would do best in a home with no cats and at least a 5 foot fence. While Sassy hasn't spent much 1 on 1 time with kids, her friendly nature suggests she would be good with them. She has done well passing play grounds and athletic fields. If you’re looking for an older, laid back dog, with a funny personality and sweet as could be, look no further. Sassy is eagerly waiting to finally call a place of her own “home”.  Sassy will also come with 4 free continued training sessions with dog trainer Lilly Staudt (with KeenDog training in Charlotte, NC) If you are interested in Sassy, please complete an adoption application at lastdaydogs.comNovember 6, 2024, 9:04 am

Story
Jax was adopted from us a little over a year ago, his adopter is relocating and she says she cannot take him with her - this is not his fault.  He initially had some behavioral issues and was a work in progress.  Jax is a 70 pound pit mix that is a ball of energy that loves to chase tennis balls and squirrels. Jax is house trained, crate trained, up-to-date with all his vaccines, and knows some basic commands like "sit", "down", and tries to "stay" but gets easily distracted.  With his trainer he behaves like a perfect gentleman on a leash, with his mom he gets too excited to listen. Currently he is living with cats in the house which he mostly ignores, he will sniff them if they are close by but he has never attempted to chase or eat them.  Jax is probably best as the only dog in the household or have a foster/adopter that is willing to feed and give high value treats separately.  He does not react to dogs or show any signs of aggression.  He has been boarded a few times and they report back he was perfectly fine with no issues. He does react if you go near his food dish while he is eating or his tennis balls.  I can take a toy from his mouth, no problem, but that is after a year of building trust with him. He is sensitive around pole-like items (brooms, sticks) he shys away like you are going to strike him. He is afraid of rain and empty boxes but completely ignores loud noises or barking dogs.  Jax needs someone that can devote time to him, work with him, and remind him of his manners. He is very treat/food motivated. We have built a routine and he knows it well, he is a smart boy. He loves a bath once you get him in the tub.  He wants to be close to his human and he tends to jump despite my efforts to teach him not to, so I would say no small children or seniors.    Jax is looking for a foster or adopter, our applications can be found at lastdaydogs.comNovember 6, 2024, 9:04 am

Story
Hunter is a gentle 60-pound Pitbull mix with a heart of gold. This strong boy, about a year old, was found running loose on the back roads of Tennessee, but despite his tough start, he's in great shape with a silky black coat. While no one has come forward to claim him, Hunter is patiently waiting for a loving family to call his own! Hunter enjoys his daily walks and is working on not pulling on the leash. ‍&#226&#153&#130&#239&#184&#143 He’s curious, playful, and loves other dogs! He’s been sharing a pen with a Boxer, though we feed him separately to avoid any food aggression. Hunter does the cutest little dance when it’s time for his meals or walks—it’s sure to put a smile on your face! While he hasn’t been tested with cats or kids yet, Hunter did have a run-in with a neighbor’s chicken , so he might be best suited to a home without small livestock. Critter Cavalry Rescue is a Middle Tennessee-based 501(c)(3) that travels to the Northeast states weekly, helping high-risk homeless animals like Hunter find their forever homes. Story
Meet Brantley! Quick Facts: Breed: Pitbull X Estimated Birthday: 1/1/2016 Size: 49 lbs --================================ Brantley hasn’t had the easiest life. He was a shelter dog at a young age who had a bad respiratory infection and heartworms. With the odds stacked against him already as a black Pitbull in a shelter, throw in some medical issues, and he was the perfect addition to our rescue crew. Healed from infection + treated for heartworms, Brantley found what seemed to be his forever home. But Brantley's family grew over the years, and unfortunately, Brantley found himself on the backburner, and once again subjected to being dropped off at the shelter. Luckily, the shelter reached out to us, and we quickly picked Brantley up - though he is now filled with confusion and on medication to help relieve his anxiety. On a happier note, Brantley is still a great companion and we have faith we can find a true forever home for him. He likes to go on walks, showing off his zoomies outside, and playing fetch.. but it's more fetch for you, because Brantley doesn't believe in the vital part of the game that includes actually bringing the ball back. His absolute favorite game is hanging out with his humans - he's a fantastic nap buddy, always advocating for the cause, and would appreciate a fluffed pillow and a blanket. This boy loves a good car ride, as long as you promise snacks for the goodest boi (him, duh). Brantley is dog selective so would do best in a home by himself or with calm, submissive dogs the same size or smaller than him with proper introductions. He does get a little greedy with toys and bones, so Brantley's goodies - like peanut butter filled kongs - are only included in his "me-time" crate training currently. He’s never met a cat that we know of. He has lived with kids and does fine after proper introduction but does not enjoy being crawled on or pulled on, so older kids would be preferred. He does have crate anxiety which we are actively working on. He can go short stints in a crate but then feels like his people have left him all over again. He’s currently doing better in an indestructible crate, but actually is (mostly) reliable outside of the crate when you're not home. If you are looking for a best friend who loves to go on car rides, walks, play ball, and nap peacefully while you're catching up on the latest Yellowstone episode, Brantley is your guy. Before emailing- please read: - Yes, this dog is available for adoption - The adoption fee for Brantley is $265 - Apply at c2cnd.org - The adoption fee covers their age appropriate shots, microchip, deworming, spay/neuter, and any other medical expenses while in our care - Local adopters only. Due to our thorough adoption process including home visits, we limit our adoptions to local families in the greater Charlotte area. - If you have any additional questions, email us at dogs@c2cnd.org and we will respond as soon as possible!
