Story
When a new girl arrives at the farm, it's always fun to get to know her. Janet certainly hasn't disappointed and she's quickly proved that she's a life of the party kind of girl. Janet is happy to leave behind motherhood and is ready to put herself first and join her forever family. Janet loves to run and play with her group mates and she's super affectionate with the volunteers. She is a young adult pit bull, weighing about 40 lbs, that will do great with a family that enjoys being outdoors and including her in on the fun. She would also love, and be a crack student, for some training to learn how to make the most of her intellect and learn what she needs to do to make her new family happy. **Volunteer Dog Walker feedback: "Loves rubs and pets. She is a lovely pup. Needs an outdoor person who she can run with or run beside a bicycle with and someone who is active".

Meet our affectionate 3-year-old girl, Kozi! This sweet pup is a true delight, bursting with energy and love. She adores playing fetch, tug-of-war, and most of all snuggling, which is how she got her name. Kozi is great with kids and loves being part of the family, bringing joy and laughter wherever she goes. Our elderly in-laws will be moving in with us and are allergic to dogs. Thus, we need to find a loving home for Kozi. She’s the perfect companion for anyone looking for a loyal friend to share cuddles and adventures with.

Marisol is a gentle and affectionate black lab mix who is not only kind and sweet but curious about the world around her! At about 46 lbs, Marisol is an adult who has a somewhat fluffy and full coat that speaks to some possible retriever heritage. She would thrive in a home where she would get plenty of attention and exercise. She is friendly and oh so polite and would enjoy a family or individual who enjoys both long walks (she is great on a leash) and curling up for a cuddle. Her adorable "white socks" and soulful brown eyes make this girl a great addition to any family!

Story
(05/21/2022) She is happy-go-lucky girl. Not short, but fun-sized...a solid low-rider who always has love in her heart and a smile on her face. And isn't that face, the most loveable, kissable, smoochable??? She is seeking a stable relationship in a household that will provide her endless biscuits, bones and crinkle toys. She is a wild and crazy girl who is energetic at playtime. Her ultimate human would look forward to her daily wet willies and be available to stroke her soft pink belly until she falls into a deep, snoring sleep on their lap.  Her unique markings give her what almost looks like a crooked little heart shaped nose! She is white, grey and pink! Her fur is mostly all white (although she has some scattered spots and freckles) except for a dark grey left ear and two adorable matching grey stripes on her tail. Her short hair means you can see the pink skin underneath, especially on her cute belly! She also has the most fabulous white eyelashes! She walks well on a leash for the most part, but her low center of gravity means she can have a strong pull if she spots a squirrel or lizard. Their quick movement triggers her instinct to chase. She is not aggressive and does not mean any harm, but she doesn't know her own strength, so no weaklings on the other end of the leash. Potential adopters should not have young children as she may knock them over with her joyful excitment, but older children would be great. Her current foster family provides her a mom and dad, plus 5 fur siblings ranging in sizes from chihuahua to small pony, and she gets along with all of them. (She is also ok with cats but will chase them.) Her favorite playmate is another PFL foster named Jess. Sweet Penelope doesn't require another dog in the home, but it would be bonus. A 4ft-5ft fence would be another great find at her new home so she'd have the ability to run and play to burn off any excess energy. A home, apartment, condo or townhome would all be good for sweet, adorable Penelope as long as she has someone who is definitely willing and able to keep her busy with playtime, walks and fun activities. Other noteworthy and great things about Penelope, she is house trained, crate trained, enjoys car rides but may try and share the front seat with you if she isn't securely fastened in her seat. Wherever you take her, she is bound to be the hit of party! She just has the face and the smile that radiates joy and people are naturally attracked to her. She loves everyone she meets and is happy to get a little bit more love and affection! Ms. Penelope is adaptable... she will sleep on top of you, next to you or all alone on a cushion, even the bare floor or in a crate. She is well-mannered, but does need some work on commands. Her adopter(s) will be very lucky to have her as loyal and entertaining member of their family. Just looking at her sweet face makes you smile! Come meet her at an adoption event. Ms. Penelope the Perfect Little Pittie is aboout 50lbs and ready to love you! Don't miss the opportunity to be her fur-ever family! As part of Penelope’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Penelope, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2065455##

Story
(DOB 10/25/2023) Happy - YES! Loveable - YES. Cute - YES! Molly would thrive in a home with another playful dog, a full toy box, and a fenced in yard to run in. She loves playing with her toys and any dogs or people that she can win over. She is young and has a lot of fun-loving, party all time, kind of energy, so she is definitely looking for a person/family that has a spunk and lively lifestyle. Even though Molly would love a furry friend in her home and fenced yard, neither of those things are required. She loves everyone she meets so as long as she has plenty of play time, walks/jogs, attends doggie daycare, etc., she will be a happy girl!! Molly is being fostered in a home with kids. While she currently lives with kids, she'd do best if the kids in her home were ~ 8 years old or older due to her enthusiastic personality, and she may accidently knock a little one over. Molly has not had an opportunity to meet kitties. She goes out to play and potty in the fenced yard multiple times per day and sleeps nicely in her kennel at night. You know what else Molly loves?? She is a super fan of the car, and like everything else, she makes an ordinary event anything but dull!! Young Molly is also well behaved on a leash and would love a family that will continue to take her for daily outings! She loves being out and about and meeting new people or other dogs; she just loves everyone. So if you are social butterfly, yourself, then Molly would be a perfect sidekick! She is all about saying "HELLO" to everyone on the street! Due to her young age, Molly is still a little mouthy and nippy; which is common at her age. With a good amount of daily exercise, a variety of toys and chewy toys, and proper redirection, she can move past this phase of puppyhood successfully. We think Molly would happy in just about any kind of house. She finds the positive around every corner, so a big house, small house, apartment, condo, townhome...yes, yes, yes. She just wants to call it HOME. Molly will be the sunshine in your day and will greet you each and every time you come home with big smiles, wiggle butt, and lots of love to share! Don't pass this sweet, sweet girl by! As part of Molly’s $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Molly, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2100273##

Story
(DOB 08/28/2022) Never has a dog been more perfectly named than Sweetie! This adorable wigglebutt adores people of all shapes, sizes, and ages, and she’s eager to find a loving family to share her sweetness with. While she may be a bit shy at first, she warms up quickly—just as long as you’re not a scary talking Halloween decoration! Sweetie prefers a home without furry friends, since they don't have hands and can’t give her the pets and treats she loves. She’s a low-maintenance companion who thrives on your company and would happily accompany you on trips to Lowe's or the local brewery! She is also learning good leash manners. When you are back home, don’t hesitate to give her some snuggles; she absolutely loves them! At home, Sweetie enjoys lounging with a chew toy or bone. She’s still learning that tennis balls and sticks aren’t food (not very nutritious, after all!), but if she gets a bit stubborn, you can gently take them from her—she’ll give them up without a fuss. She does love a variety of toys and can be a bit of a toy hog; it's kinda cute to see her enjoying all of the toys available to her. She is also food and treat motivated so makes for training and learning that much easier. Sweetie would be fine in a home, apartment, condo or townhome without a fenced yard. She definitely a bit of a coach potato and prefers to be hanging out with you rather than running around in the yard. Sweetie enjoys visiting stores and other places that welcome dogs. She is fantastic companion in the car and happy to tag along wherever you go! Sweetie's foster family has 2 other dogs and 2 cats. With proper introductions and play monitoring, Sweetie is continually growing more comfortable and better behaved with a "big" family; even so, we beleive she would be happiest as an only dog in the home soaking up all the love, patience and attention one wants to share with her. Sweetie tends to be a follower, so if someone gets super excited or too animated during play time, she matches the energy level. In other words, she can misinterpret body and verbal cues from her 4-legged foster siblings - just something she isn't as familar with so she is learning along this new journey. Sweetie has been good with all children she has meet. Sweetie sleeps in her crate and likes her big soft bed in there. She is house trained as well and would love to be with someone who is home a good chunk of time each day. So if you work from home, etc. she'd make a great "co-worker." You'd have the best of both worlds...the privacy of working remotely while having Sweetie, the sweetest, as your work bestie! As part of Sweetie’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Sweetie, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2182687##

Story
(DOB 06/17/2023) Hank is a hunk and happy boy. This guy will give you endless love and affection, complete with hugs and kisses galore. He will keep up with your every step and keep you safe in every situation...including the bathroom. Hank would love a home with some routine and structure and with a family member that is home a good chunck of the time. His day starts like many with a quick bathroom trip, a little breakfast and some snuggle time. He is pretty chill during the day while his foster mom works from home and will hang out in his crate. He is a great companion for an afterrnoon break and a nice little walk. He's demonstrated he can be an excellent co-worker and is very helpful writing emails. After the work day is over he is happy to help you take out any work stressors with a good ole' afternoon stroll. He is also just as great at chores because he "helps" around the house. He'd also be oh-so-happy to be your chef assistant and sneak a morsal or two off the counter while cooking, so keep your eyes out. He goes into his crate nicely at night to sleep. Hank will keep you laughing as he discovers the big wide world. He's very curious about what is going on as long as he feels safe. This is a truly excellent addition to your life and will keep you laughing, living, and loving. Hank is happy playing tug of war, playing with other dogs, playing with toys, and hanging out with his people! There is no need for a fenced yard with Hank since he really would prefer to just be with you. His little "shadow you" personality just doesn't require a fence. So if you live in an apartment, condo or townhome or home without a fence, definitely give Hank a chance! He'd be ok as an only dog or with a cool doggie sibling. Hank is a very enthusiastic player, and he might be a bit much for some older, not as active or low energy dogs or dogs that get too overly excited with high energy play. He is still a little mouthy and nippy so probably no young kids where their little fingers or toes could end up in his little mouth. He is also ok with dog-savvy cats. Hank needs some more leash training and with some yummy treats and practice and patience he sure to do great at this as well. As part of Hank’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Hank, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2100318##

Story
(DOB 12/15/2023) Gigi is a loveable, loyal, little tank of a girl. Gigi is loving life in her foster home, and she grows in confidence every day. Gigi is currently in a home with 2 large dogs and a dog savvy cat who she gives a wide berth. Add to that, a yard with chickens and goats and she is learning to be respectful to both. Gigi would like do best in a home with another furry sibling to play with, snuggle with, nap with and just all around be best buddies. Gigi is food motivated and a fast learner. She is very good at "sit" and "down", and she is working on leash manners. She has also done some group hikes with a local canicross group, and she did great with meeting new dogs. She is crate trained and sleeps through the night in her crate. Gigi is still young and does love to chew so multiple chew toys are a must.  Though she may have had some hard knocks early on, it absoletly didn't dampen her spirit. Plus, bringing her into your life will immediately brighten your spirit, too. She is sweatheart and a gem of a girl just waiting for a fun-loving and fairly active family. As part of Gigi’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Story
(DOB 10/25/2023) Hope is heartworm positive, but don't let that stop you from adopting. Our rescue will pay for the treatment & will be adoptable within 1 hour of Wake Forest, NC during the treatment period. Hope is a huge fan of kids (the more, the merrier!). One thing’s for sure, Hope is a total "man's dog" . She’s totally smitten with her foster daddy and and her 2-legged foster brothers and is happiest when they’re around. Whether it's playtime or just snuggling up on the couch, she’s all about her favorite people. She's super loyal, loving, and ready to be the most fun, tail-wagging addition to your family! This spunky girl is full of energy and loves a good adventure! Hope would absolutely thrive in a home with a big yard where she can run, jump, and play to her heart's content, so we are definitely looking for a home with a fenced yard for Hope. She’d also love another dog buddy to hang out with, especially if they’re introduced properly. With that being said, Hope could be an only dog, she would just need a loving, sweet, active family to keep her playful energy satisfied. If Hope is in an only-dog home, we believe it best that Hope gets to attend doggie day care on a regularly basis or have doggie friends she can walk and play with regularly. If you’re looking for a road trip buddy, look no further! Hope absolutely loves car rides – the minute the door opens, she’s ready to hop in and hit the road. Whether it’s a quick trip to the store or an all-day adventure, she’s always excited to be your co-pilot. With her ears flapping in the wind and her tail wagging with every turn, she’s the ultimate travel companion who’ll keep you company and make every ride a little more fun. Buckle up, because with Hope, every car ride is an adventure! During the day, Hope is a bundle of excitement, especially when it's time to play! Hope is still figuring out all the fun to be had with all her new toys and loves bringing toys to her foster mom. It is the sweetest thing to see! She is now also learning about new games like tug-of-war and fetch. She’s getting better every day! Hope is incredibly smart and a quick learner! With gentle redirection, she’s done really well staying focused and on track. With some consistent training, she’s bound to continue improving and becoming an even more well-behaved and attentive companion. This girl’s got so much potential, and with the right guidance, she’ll only continue to amaze!  She gets a quick potty break every 3-4 hours when her family is home, and she is well-behaved and can hang out in her crate overnight and while her family is at work, with no problem at all. When it’s time for bed, she either sleeps in her crate or shares a cozy room with her fur sibling; Hope especially loves curling up and chilling out with her two foster dogs. Hope is a happy, go-lucky pup who loves to be around her family. Hope is sweet, playful, and adaptable – she’s ready to be your best friend!  She is just looking for her #1 family to find her. As part of Hope’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Cha Cha is a brindle Boxer mix lady who is an adult weighing about 50 lbs on the lean side. Cha Cha has done the momma thing and now she is ready to do the "Me Dancing Thing" with some great forever peeps. Cha Cha may not been a teenager but she sure can keep up. She loves to run the fields at the farm and does great with other dogs but definitely does not need a doggo friend to be happy. She is so appreciative of attention and a good meal and will likely be your shadow in short stay. Cha Cha is ready to dance the dance of a free woman, with no more mothering duties and with a life time of spoiling ahead of her. You may be her perfect partner!

Say hello to Chester Drawers. Found as a stray, Chester is about ten years old. He has been through a lot, and is partially deaf but it doesn't slow him down. He loves to walk around his foster parents backyard and sniff and smell, but when its time to come in and get head scratches, he is right there with the best of him. Chester has been neutered, gotten a dental and also had a small tumor removed from his chest. He is HW-, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. He would love to be in a home with another unassuming dog or even by himself, as long as there are treats and head scratches to be found. Apply at apply.neshamarescue.org
