Story
It breaks our hearts to rehome our 6-year-old pitbull, Onix, but due to our son’s fear of dogs, we can no longer give him the freedom and attention he deserves. Onix is truly the sweetest companion you could ever meet. Though he might be a little shy at first, it won’t take long for him to warm up and become your favorite cuddle buddy. All he wants is to be loved and petted, and he’s happiest just hanging out by your side. Most of his day is spent napping, but he also enjoys time outside, soaking up the fresh air and lounging around. Onix is already crate-trained and would thrive in a home with older children who can appreciate his gentle, loving nature. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate friend to add to your family, Onix might be the perfect match for you. Let us know if you’d like to meet this wonderful pup!

Story
Mako is a 5 1/2 year old pit bull who arrived at the shelter as as tray in late August. He is heartworm positive, but receiving treatment at the shelter. Mako is looking for his new home! Mako is a handsome dog with a calm demeanor and a nose for adventure! This mellow guy absolutely enjoys spending time in the yard, where he happily roams around sniffing to his heart's content. While he isn't the type to chase toys or play games, Mako enjoys exploring his surroundings and taking in all the interesting scents. When it's time for a walk, Mako's excitement shines-he'll eagerly run to the door as soon as he sees the leash! While he can be a bit of a puller, especially if there are other dogs around, he's generally easy to walk in a quieter environment. He responds well to treats (which he takes gently) and enjoys the company of his person. Mako prefers to be the only pet in the home, as he doesn't seem to get along with other dogs. He can be reactive when passing other dogs in the kennel or on a walk, so he'd thrive in a dog-free household with a family that understands his need for space. Despite his quirks, Mako's sweet personality makes him a joy to be around. He's a great companion for someone who wants a loyal, laid-back friend who's happiest sniffing around a yard or going for peaceful strolls. Could you be the one to give this beautiful boy the loving home he deserves? If you're interested in adopting Mako, please come visit him during our adoption hours, 12 pm - 4 pm, every day but Tuesday at the Guilford County Animal Shelter.

**Meet Appaloosa - The Fun-Loving Boy Who Adores Pets and Attention!** Appaloosa is a charming and playful boy with a heart full of love to give! He's got a fun-loving personality and a special knack for soaking up attention from anyone willing to give him a good scratch behind the ears. This sweet boy is always ready to be loved on and will return your affection with joy and enthusiasm. Though Appaloosa can be vocal when he's out on walks-especially if he's trying to catch the attention of potential new friends-his true happiness shines through when people stop to give him the pets and attention he craves. He's incredibly affectionate and elated when you take the time to show him some love. It's worth noting that we suspect Appaloosa may have some hearing loss. He can get a little startled if you approach him from behind or if there's sudden movement he doesn't anticipate, so a gentle approach is always best. He doesn't always respond to verbal cues, but with a little patience and understanding, he quickly learns what you're asking and will follow your lead. Appaloosa recently went on a Dog Day Out, and he did wonderfully! He enjoyed a nice bath, a long walk, and plenty of snuggles-proving he's a calm, well-mannered dog who enjoys a good time, whether it's getting pampered or spending quality time outdoors. If you're looking for a dog who's fun, affectionate, and ready to shower you with love, Appaloosa is your guy. He may need a little extra patience when it comes to his hearing, but once you get to know each other, you'll find he's a loyal, loving companion who thrives on attention and affection. Come meet Appaloosa today and see how this sweet boy can bring so much joy into your life! He's ready to find his forever home where he'll get all the pets and attention he deserves!

Story
**Purdy** is one of the calmest, gentlest, and sweetest dogs you'll ever meet! This lovable girl has a heart of gold and is looking for a forever home where she can share her affection and warmth. Purdy is a dream on the leash and absolutely adores going for walks. You'll often find her right by your side, seeking closeness and offering her famous hugs-she loves to be as near to her person as possible! While she may be a bit timid at first and appreciates a quiet home, Purdy opens up quickly when she feels safe and loved. Once she settles in, you'll discover a loyal companion who forms strong bonds and thrives on your affection. Purdy is also non-reactive around other dogs, making her an easygoing addition to any household. If you're looking for a calm and devoted companion who will fill your days with love and loyalty, Purdy is the perfect match! As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. Come meet this sweet girl and see how her gentle spirit can brighten your life! She is available for adoption at Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday. Purdy is currently in foster, if you are interested in meeting her, please contact her foster, Dianna, at 336-207-4179 to make an appointment.

**Meet Slim Jim!** Slim Jim is a playful, attentive, and curious pup who's sure to steal your heart with his goofy antics and boundless energy. He's got a lot of love to give and is always up for an adventure, whether it's a stroll through the neighborhood or a thrilling game of fetch (he's still perfecting his playtime manners, but he's getting there!). When it comes to walks, Slim Jim is a good walker with a little bit of a slow start. Once he settles into his pace, though, he's a steady companion. He's a true sniff master, always eager to explore his surroundings with his nose to the ground, and he's not in any rush to miss a single scent! Slim Jim might be a bit timid at first, but with some patience and reassurance, he's quick to warm up to new faces and environments. He's brave and confident in the car, though he does prefer to be picked up to get in - once he's there, he rides like a champ, calm and content during the journey. This sweet boy is treat and toy motivated, so training and positive reinforcement are right up his alley. He's seemingly house trained and had no accidents during a brief home stay, proving that he's a fast learner and a well-mannered pup in the making. Slim Jim has never shown any aggression towards small children and has even been polite around a toddler; however, he's listed as No Small Children because the chaos that naturally comes with small children may overwhelm Slim Jim. He is also occasionally mouthy with play, so we try to be overly cautious! If you're looking for a loving companion who's a bit on the shy side but full of personality, Slim Jim might just be the perfect fit for your family! With his playful spirit, loving nature, and willingness to learn, he's ready to join a home where he can feel safe, loved, and a little bit spoiled with treats and toys. To meet Slim Jim, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
