Story
Meet Jelly! Jelly is our longest resident here at HSEC. She has been here since 02/04/2022 and is 3 years old! Jelly has been in long-term foster due to her being very stressed out here at the shelter. Jelly’s foster mom hopes we can find the perfect home for Jelly because she knows firsthand just how amazing Jelly is! Jelly is an absolute lovebug! She loves nothing more than getting pets and snuggling up to you on the couch. She loves chewing on her bones and playing with her toys when she’s not being lazy and cuddling with you. She can get very excited on the leash and when she meets new people, but when she sticks to her routine, she is calm. She gets nervous sometimes when she sees other dogs, but she is learning to be less afraid. Jelly is perfect for someone who can spend time petting and playing with her and give her plenty of walks! Jelly is still looking for her forever home! I know, we are just as shocked as we are! Jelly would do best in the home as the only dog, but that just means you can spoil her like the dog she deserves. We believe that in controlled environments, she would be able to coexist with other dogs/cats. Like any of our dogs, Jelly would require a meet and greet before becoming a part of your furry family! This amazing dog brings such infectious joy to any room, it’s hard to resist coming up and petting her smooth little head! We are absolutely stoked to see Jelly find her forever home! Interested in being the fur-ever home that Jelly needs? Head over to hsecarolina.org to learn more about Jelly!

Story
Meet our lovable dog who`s just like a big puppy, full of energy and always ready to play! She may have a few quirks, but we promise you`ll fall in love with her just like we have. This energetic pup is always on the go, eager to explore and play with her favorite humans. At times, she can be a bit mouthy and loves to dig, but she quickly redirects her attention to toys and is always up for a game of tug.Despite her high energy levels, she`s a sweetheart and loves to snuggle up with her humans for quality time together. She`s incredibly affectionate and always eager for some extra attention and love. Our pup is looking for a home with an active family that can keep up with her energy levels and provide plenty of opportunities for playtime and exercise. She`s still learning and growing, but with a patient and loving family, we`re confident she`ll thrive. This pup is up to date on all her vaccinations and is spayed, so she`s ready to start a new chapter in her life with her forever family. If you`re looking for a fun-loving dog who`s always up for an adventure, look no further!Baguettes adoption fee has been sponsored in loving memory of Ciabatta.

Story
Meet Keno, the stout little pitbull with a heart of gold and a journey toward trust and love. Keno`s story is truly touching. Having spent his entire life outside in a dog pen with minimal care or human interaction, Keno now harbors a fear of the unknown. Remarkably, he holds no grudge against humans for his past life. Keno adores other dogs and many dogs seek solace in his presence. Possessing a gentle nature, Keno`s ultimate desire is to be cherished in a loving home. Initially timid, Keno quickly warmed up to the staff, showering them with kisses and choosing to stay close by. He is a pure-hearted soul eager to find a forever home with someone patient enough to earn his trust. Once Keno does trust you, it will feel like hitting the jackpot. Keno is a unique dog who will be a treasure to whoever adopts him, and we hope that person is you! Though he may start off a bit scared, this brave boy is making great strides with the help of his furry friends in foster. In foster, Keno is house trained and finds immense comfort in the company of other dogs and his special feline buddy, Yang. Keno adores lounging on the couch, where he loves watching TV and peeking over the top to see what you`re up to. His compact frame and soulful eyes make him an irresistible couch companion, always ready for a cozy snuggle. With patience and understanding, Keno is learning to embrace the safety and love he deserves. Follow his journey and prepare to fall for this gentle, resilient pup who’s blossoming into the affectionate companion he’s meant to be. Keno tested positive for heartworms. HSEC gives heartworm positive dogs a course of antibiotics and steroids. They then receive monthly heartworm prevention, as any dog should. We recommend speaking to your veterinarian before adopting a heartworm-positive dog. Interested in adopting Keno? Head over to hsecarolina.org to apply today!

Smore is a great dog for an active family home. She is trained to eat in her crate currently. She has been treat trained to sit, lay, currently trying to get her to learn how to shake. Her leash training is still getting worked on and will probably need someone to keep working on it. She is great with people of all ages and goes to doggy daycare to socialize and is great with other dogs. She loves to cuddle and play as she is high energy still.
