Story
Ducky is the happiest boy, always eager to make new friends anywhere he goes! This boy has an ambiguous past, having showed up on someones porch as a stray in January 2024. Ducky is on his way to mastering the art of potty training. Currently, he is comfortable in his crate as it is where he sleeps, eats, and spends his unsupervised time. Ducky is a curious, fearless boy who just wants to run and play in the yard, house, and is a cheerful boy on his walks. He walks very well on a leash and is on his way to being quite the Velcro dog. His ideal family would enjoy an active lifestyle and bring him on adventures! His foster family consists of two dogs, two cats, and two adult humans. He loves all of them dearly, although he is still learning to respect the boundaries of the cats. We would recommend Duckys forever home be cat-free. While Ducky does get along with his foster dog siblings and loves other dogs when properly introduced, he would do best in a pet-free home where he can be your one and only! His foster siblings are very submissive, so he could potentially be in a home with one other very submissive, female dog. He has not been tested with children or livestock. Because Ducky can be mouthy, we believe his best home would not have young children. Ducky would likely be fine with older children/teens (10+). Ducky does not have a high prey drive and has low reactivity when it comes to animals and strangers inside and outside of the home. He has a loud bark, so may not be suitable for apartment living. He uses his voice most when asking his foster siblings to play, or when his foster humans are leaving the house. Ducky has an incredibly sweet disposition and his favorite things to do include playing with a flirt pole in the yard, chasing balls, playing tug-o-war with his foster siblings, chewing on Benebones, and going for walks! Oh and eating food! Being a pup who is still learning to control his impulses, Ducky explores the world with his mouth. He can be quite mouthy, though this is a behavior he is learning to control! Ducky is eager to please and very intelligent! He is actively mastering sit, lie down, leave it, drop, and come. He continues to learn commands that help him develop structure and impulse control as well. At the end of the day, Ducky would do best in a home with experienced dog owners who could cultivate a safe, structured environment for him. His ideal family would be able to provide Ducky with consistent, gentle training in a way that best advocates for him, encouraging him to blossom into the best friend he wants to be!

My adoption fee has been fully sponsored. Adopt me and pay $0.00!!!Hi There! Benny Boy is a playful, large boy who has had sleepeovers where he played with toys, was comfortable in the home, loved his couch and being handled. Knows sit, responsive on the leash, enjoys a great roll in the grass. A chill friendly guy who would love a home where he`s treated like one of the family. He has been at OCAS for 100 days or more. Please consider taking a second look at this wonderful boy. Staff has noted that while here, he have been friendly towards new people, appear to be housetrained, and have done with with medical exams. Staff still recommends slow and monitored introductions to any new people and animals in the homeINSIGHTS FROM MY DOG DAY OUT SLEEPOVER:`Benny Boy came over for a sleepover and he was a very good boy. He was respectful in the home. No jumping, counter surfing or trying to take food. I actually ate near him several times and he just laid next to me without even begging. He can be a little particular about treats, mostly preferring chicken and other meat treats. He can hold a sit and be patient. We took him on several walks. He is quite strong and does pull at times, but after the first walk he did start to calm down and pull less. He is kinda funny when riding in the car. He likes to sit or stand on the floor and look backwards instead of forwards. He did do well when meeting my dog, picking up on her cues when she didn’t want to play anymore. He really likes hugs and cuddles. He found a whale toy that he played with for hours. He had some difficulty with resting in the crate at

DOG DAY OUT PARTICIPANTS INFORMATION: Crowley is a very sweet boy! He does perfer more of a layed back kinda dog day out. So if you are looking to have a picnic at the park and bird watch, stay at home and play video games or watch some TV, maybe stop by and get some chicken nuggets on the way back to the shelter. He is your man! He would perfer less long walks and more chill out time. My adoption fee has been fully sponsored. Adopt me and pay $0.00!!!Hello! My name is Crowley! I came into the shelter with `happy tail`, some face injuries and a bit underweight. I`m eating well and on the path to a good weight! I am currently on some medications to help heal up my injuries which has already improved while under the care of the shelter. I am a very happy and food motivated guy! I can get a bit rambunctious during play so it is recommended that I not be with small children as I could accidentally knock them down and overwhelm them. Thanks for considering adopting me!Our gorgeous, handsome Crowley has his adventure buddies saying so many nice things about him:`He`s an absolute cuddler, really wanted pets and to snuggle/be a lapdog. Did not pull on the leash, walked near or next to me. He was a little cautious at times on walks (probably normal for any dog in an unfamiliar area with so many new things happening), but he consistently started brightening up and wagging his tail enthusiastically when he saw other people. He was great in the car - fell asleep at times even when the ride was short. Not a barker, very gentle dog. He has a playful side too (might enjoy tug of war), listens to some commands very well.` `Crowley is a sweet boy with a lot of potential. Like most dogs, he just needs some training and some patience. We went for a drive, to a brewery that allows dogs indoors, and to Phydeaux to get him something to chew on besides my rubbery watch band. ?? He knows sit, and he`s working on learning a few other basic commands. After some initial excitement upon getting in the car (wanting to sit in my lap), he calmed down. He also wanted to be the first one out of the car, but I am happy to work with him on that. I would actually say that he was VERY CALM in the car. I am hoping that was therapeutic for him. I look forward to

Story
My adoption fee has been fully sponsored. Adopt me and pay $0.00!!!I`m a sweet boy and I need a loving home! I came to the shelter when my previous owner could no longer care for me. When I first got to the shelter I was very scared, skinny, and did not trust the staff here. I have warmed up a lot over the last few weeks and am now looking for a good home to spend my golden years in. One of our volunteers said I am a very sweet older boy who is good on a leash and loves treats. I can have lots of energy, and be curious about the world. I love long walks where 80% of the walks consist of sniffs. I am super smart and knows sit and shake/paw. Staff and volunteers have recently discovered that I am not comfortable with male humans and prefer females. I am still learning but would benefit from patience as because of my shy behavior at the shelter I demonstrated coming in. Treats are helping earn my trust and please try not to touch near my head. Please don`t overlook me because I have some extra years on me! I still have a lot of love to give!

I am currently available in my foster home. If you are interested in meeting with me, please fill out an interest form here: https://airtable.com/shrWv1TWfsw834pBdMy adoption fee has been fully sponsored. Adopt me and pay $0.00!!!Hi there! My name is Koda. I was surrendered to the shelter after my previous owner could no longer care for me. I am a timid but laid-back and curious gal. I did very well on my intake exam and enjoyed gentle pets. My previous owner mentioned I was affectionate, good around children and walked well on leash. I can sometimes be unsure meeting new people so staff recommends slow and monitored introductions to any new people and animals in the home. Please ask staff if you have anymore questions about me.INSIGHTS FROM MY DOG DAY OUT:`We had a great time with Koda on a 3-mile hike at the ATT. She was very good in the car and sat calmly right next to me on the drive. Koda was excellent on the leash as she walked/trotted down the trail. Whenever she felt resistance on the leash, she would immediately slow down to let us catch up, so she didn`t pull at all. We passed runners and bikers on the trail and Koda was fine and not reactive. We didn`t see any other dogs on the trail. Koda seemed to really enjoy being out and was a excellent walking companion. She has a calm, laid back personality, which made for a fun, easy outing.`INSIGHTS FROM MY FOSTER FAMILY:`Koda is such a lovely girl!! She is a couch potato, loves lying around, but also loves going on walks and runs. She is house-trained and doesn`t mess up anything in the house. She loves cuddling and sleeping next to you. She loves giving lots of kisses. Anyone who meets her falls in love with her immediately.`

Story
Griffin is a charming boy with such a goofy personality! Smart, friendly and playful, he adores all toys (especially bouncy balls) and is always up for an adventure. Eager to please and motivated by tasty treats, Griffin is attentive when practicing basic commands. He has mastered a beautiful "sit" and "down," and he is fully crate-trained. After a busy day of sniffing and playing with his foster sisters, he's happy to rest in his crate with a tasty peanut butter kong, and he sleeps through the night in his crate. Since Griffin is very curious and wants to learn about everything, crating when unattended remains the safest option for this inquisitive guy. Griffin would benefit from continued training on a leash. He pulls because he is very excited to see everything he can as he walks. He barks and pulls when passing people and dogs but is working on keeping eye contact with his walker. At this time Griffin will require a detached home with a fenced yard. Griffin's favorite outside play is anything involving a ball! He LOVES a super-bouncy ball and returns it for another throw. He also enjoys sniffing for treats as we walk around the fenced yard; lounging in the sun and chewing on a ball is a great way for him to spend an afternoon. He has interacted with children but is jumpy with the excitement of meeting new friends, so for now, older children would be the best fit for him. Griffin likes other dogs but requires a slow introduction. Once he's comfortable with new dog friends, all's well and he follows their cues. When he's not busy playing or training, Griffin wants nothing more than pets and snuggles. A lovable cuddle bug, he curls up right next to you once he's worn himself out. Griffin will thrive in an environment that will keep him active, engaged, and supervised. Smart, spunky Griffin will only continue to blossom in a patient and loving forever home! Could that be you? HEALTH Griffin is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and neutered. HISTORY Griffin came from a local shelter.

My adoption fee has been fully sponsored. Adopt me and pay $0.00!!!Hi there, my name is Melon! I am a medium sized, energetic and playful fella. I love to run, play with tennis balls, and learn new things. I am working on sit, down and spin. I am an active pup so I hope my new family can take me on plenty of adventures because I love to go new places and meet new people :) Please ask staff if you have any questions about me.INSIGHTS FROM MY DOG DAY OUT ADVENTURE BUDDIES:`I had a great hike with Melon in the Carolina north forest. He rides well in the car and doesn’t pull on the leash. He knows the sit command and giving paw. We met some other dogs on the trail and he was very friendly.``Melon is such a sweet and gentle dog. We took him for a hike at Carolina North Forest and he had the best manners. He was calm in the car, didn`t jump on anyone, didn`t bark, and didn`t pull on the leash at all - he would slow down any time he felt tension on the leash. He was not reactive to other walkers, runners, or bikers, and even ignored a dog we passed that barked at him aggressively. At the beginning of the hike he wanted to sniff quite a bit at the side of the trail, but then he started to enjoy walking/trotting ahead of us with just occasional sniff stops. When we first met him he was a little subdued, but the longer we hiked the happier he got, and after the hike when we got to the coffee shop for a pup cup, he was wagging his tail nonstop. He wanted to meet the other people there and was very happy when someone stopped to pet him. He seems to really like people. He is a very easy dog to be around and was a lot of fun to spend time with.`
