Story
Roscoe birthday is on December 25, Christmas Day. He's a very sweet and loving dog with a great personality. I'm not sure how he does with other animals because he's just been around his dad at this point, but the older Roscoe is getting, him and his dad try to be dominant with each other. Other than that, he is really the sweetest dog. He does get nervous and timid and will bark at strangers but once he's been petted, he is completely fine and will try to lick the face. He does very well with my kids on a normal basis. He helps me wake them up in the morning for school and he loves to run around and play wrestle with them. He was a chewer as a puppy but is way better now he is house trained. **Adoption fee of $100 includes 1st shots, vet visits, and deworming. ** Adoption Application: mercyrescue.org

Story
Benny is an oh so darn cute pup born around April of 2023. We think he is a Pitt/Border Collie mix. Look at those markings! He has black and white complete with speckles. Such a striking looking boy! We love the way one eye has a black patch and the other has a white. He's the ying and yang of dogs. Benny is a nice size, 40 lbs. He's muscular and well formed, a healthy boy. He has a playful attitude and likes other dogs. He has good dog skills and not a mean bone in his body. He's happy go lucky and always ready for some fun. His favorite playmate is a Husky who has his energy level and strength. He lives with older, smaller dogs too and is fine to leave them alone when they don't want to play. Benny lives at a pet hotel and meets new dogs regularly. We can see the Border Collie in Benny in the focused way he chases his toys. He gets low to the ground with intense focus to retrieve the toy. He is ecstatic when gets the toy and brings it back to his foster mom. He prances around the yard with utter joy and satisfaction. His toy and food motivation allows his foster mom to exercise him properly without having to run a marathon. His foster mom is no spring chicken; jogging is out of the question for her. Benny is very athletic and strong. He needs an experienced owner who enforces rules with consistency and kindness. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat. We don't recommend Benny to a family with small children; he is too strong and too much of a puppy still. While Benny is excellent in his crate and has never had an accident, he would not be happy in a home where he spends the better part of a day in his crate. He needs activity, both mind and body. Benny came to us with zero manners! He was dumped on a windy country road after the local shelter explained to his owner that they didn't have room for him. It's clear that his human was heartless and didn't spend any time with Benny teaching him to be a good boy. That's alright, his foster mom is teaching him how to live in the human world. Fortunately, Benny is eager to learn and eager to please. This is going to be a stellar boy. Benny learns quickly and already knows the following: sit, wait, toy, go night night, off, AH-AH, watch me, ok. Here are the Pros and Cons of Benny in a nut shell: Pros: Good disposition, happy boy Loves to fetch, play with toys (learning to drop it) Smart Eager to please Eager to learn Loves people and other dogs Crate trained-never had an accident Energetic Loving Very healthy Low shed NO smell (like the Mr Clean Magic Eraser- dirt on paws become clean without bathing! Like magic!) Cons: Puppy brain Doesn't know how strong he is Mouthy Doesn't understand the human world- yet Loves to chew- anything and everything Easily excited **Adoption fee $175 includes spay/neuter, vet visits, deworming, and shots. ** Adoption Application: mercyrescue.org

Story
Maverick is a very intelligent dog and has a very strong will. He likes to be alpha with other dogs, but after a flash of growling and snarling he usually settles into rambunctious play with other dogs. So, he is dog selective. He demands lots of attention and affection and will crawl on your lap and snuggle for long periods of time. He is underfoot most of the day. Maverick likes to play tug of war and destroying cardboard boxes with you. He is a very powerful dog, so I do not recommend him for older people or very small females. As you can see from his pictures, he is strikingly handsome and always gets lots of attention when we take him out in public. Maverick is a family dog; he needs lots of human attention. We walk Maverick 2-5 miles every day. He gets rather pent up without his walks. Maverick has Terrier characteristics and has a very high prey drive. Groundhogs, moles, rats, mice are his favorite. If you have a large garden or farm and have problems with groundhogs, then Maverick is your man. He is absolutely fixated on groundhogs. Unfortunately, he will also kill cats. Maverick can become very territorial and aggressive. Do NOT give him a bone or rawhide chew toy. He turns into Cujo. He has never bitten anyone. He's very good with small children who will grab him by the face and ears and in fact, he loves to wrestle and rough house. Maverick is a lot of work, but his huge personality and charisma. Make it very worth it. **Adoption fee of $175 includes spay/neuter, vet visits, deworming, and shots. ** Adoption Application: mercyrescue.org

Attention: This is a courtesy posting only! This pet is NOT available through Mountain Pet Rescue.  Please do NOT contact MPR for information about the pet or apply to adopt this pet on the MPR website.  Contact 252-665-2512 or elliegcoles@gmail.com for more information or to adopt the pet.Zeus is a 40lb American Pitbull Terrier Mix. He is the most special and the sweetest boy you will ever meet! He loves to cuddle!! So much in fact that the first night we adopted him he snuggled into bed with us! He loves getting dressed up in outfits and getting tucked into a soft blanket - he is just an absolute cuddle bug. BUT that’s not to say he doesn’t have lots of energy. Zeus LOVES to play!! Zeus LOVES toys and playing around. His favorite game is tug of war! He absolutely loves being outside and running around. He loves to take walks and explore. He REALLY loves to run around an open field and chase birds! Zeus loves his people and loves so hard! Zeus has a very big personality and is truly a very special dog that will connect with you on a deep level. Zeus is so loyal and clingy, and all he wants to do is love and be loved. Although Zeus is full of love, he can also be a scaredy cat at times! When we adopted Zeus we were told he came from an abusive household. This can make him skittish, reactive and anxious at times. Since we have gotten Zeus, he has grown so much. However, he does still struggle with feeling anxious and that can lead to him being reactive. For example: loud noises, yelling, high-fiving or anything that mimics anything aggressive will concern him! For this reason, it is very important that Zeus goes to a home filled with lots of love, understanding and patience. He longs to feel safe, and that is the life we hope and dream someone can provide for him. Due to Zeus’ occasional reactive behavior and anxiety, it is best he goes to a home that has experience with dogs and not first time owners. We also do not know how he is around children as he has never been introduced to any. He doesn’t get along with cats. As far as behavior with others dogs, he seems to get along with most dogs. Zeus currently lives in a 1 animal household.Zeus really is an amazing dog and has SO MUCH LOVE to give! Even though he has had a troubled past, he is such a good boy and deserves every good thing in life. Our wish for Zeus is to find him a loving forever home with lots of space for him to run around and explore! If you have patience and are looking for a cuddle companion so full of love with a big personality - Zeus would be the perfect fit!Full disclosure: We are not giving up Zeus because of any of any fault of his own but, because of a family emergency, we have to move to a country where pitbulls are illegal to have :(. We are heartbroken as Zeus is our baby and deserves every good thing in the world!! We are really hoping someone can give him the happiest life possible! We will travel anywhere!Contact me today at 252-665-2512 or elliegcoles@gmail.com to learn more about sweet Zeus! All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption.
