I have all my vet care done, I am up to date on shots, microchipped, and spayed. I do know how to walk nicely on a leash plus I don't run off when I am on my foster family's property without a leash on. I respond to my name and I will sit and stay when asked. My foster mom also thinks I am not barky! I love car rides and being on the boat however I do not enjoy getting in the water. I enjoy getting up on the couch at my foster home however I settle down in my own bed. I am a very playful ball of energy who will give all the kisses you could ever want. From a volunteer who has spent time with Johnny Ramone:"Johnny is a neutered male pit mix (current on his vaccinations) who is visually impaired, approximately 4-5 years old, and is the sweetest boy. Johnny came to Stray Haven in August with a couple of other dogs he was on the lam with. Sadly Johnny is still waiting to find a forever home.My granddaughter was helping this summer when I first took Johnny out. She said of all the shelter dogs she met Johnny was her favorite. Once you meet Johnny it's not hard to know why. To know Johnny is to love Johnny. Johnny and I took walks and visited new and old friends at Home Central and Hair Designs. Johnny charmed everyone he met. He walks nicely on a leash. Even when he got interested and distracted by clucking chickens and a crowing rooster he was easily redirected by voice. Johnny would love to meet you and show you all his charms. From Jethro's temporary foster family:"A report on my temporary foster dog from Stray Haven Humane Society. I picked up Jethro from the shelter on Thursday. He had just arrived Wednesday on a transport from Southern shelters trying to make room for animals now homeless because of Hurricane Helene. Jethro is a big, beautiful, young male pit mix who has been neutered and vet-checked. He is a little timid and apprehensive due to all the changes in his life but has settled in well with me as his temporary caretaker. We had a nice relaxing walk this morning taking in the autumn weather and colors. He is a large dog and a strong puller when excited. I've found walking him in the fields is more relaxing for both of us rather than in the woods. He gets supercharged with the smells and sounds of wildlife so he is harder to walk. In the field, I can see and check that we won't be flushing out any critters. He tells me that he is used to hunting wild boars down south but that might be him trying to pad his resume with fake news. I have used a leash wrap harness on him which helps a lot when he does start to pull.Dog meets have not gone well here with the resident dogs so I would say he is dog selective. This may be due to him still settling in but he doesn't appear to appreciate anyone who challenges his space. The shelter was told he participated in playgroups in the southern shelter so a dog friend is not out of the question. He keeps his kennel space here very neat and clean and doesn't seem to have separation anxiety. He does silly little puppy jumps when greeting me and appears to understand his size and not jump with paws up unless I am seated. He loves butt rubs!!We are working on waiting to go through doors since he started trying to rush through. He is doing very well with this! Also with sitting to wait for a treat that he takes gently. He is great at this!!I think he would be a very loyal loving companion for someone willing to put in the work with him. He will be returning to Stray Haven in Waverly by October 16th. If someone would like to meet him sooner arrangements can be made to have him at the shelter before that date. She’s a sweet older lady looking for a snuggle pawtner! 🥰 While she’s up for an amble around the block, napping really has her ❤️! Give her some comfy blankets and laid-back people or puppy pals for company and she’s content to snooze the days away! Princess was recently brought north to make more room for dogs affected by the hurricanes in the south. She has spent some time in a foster home and is now back at Stray Haven to find her forever home. Princess is one of the easiest dogs I have walked in a long time. She takes her time on her leisurely strolls to check out all the sights, smells, and sounds. I don't think her tail ever quit wagging and she loved everyone she met.Princess does have some skin issues and could stand to lose a few pounds but she is really hoping to find a safe soft bed to lay her head in for the rest of her life.
