Story
You’d never know that Chyna is our senior pup in the rescue (11-12 yrs old) – she is still likes to play and but she is pretty low maintenance and is mellow and content lounging around – the best of both worlds.  Chyna’s BIGGEST requirement is she needs to be the only pet in the house – no other dogs or cats.  She has been back with us for over a year now and we really want her to find a home to call her own.  Currently in a VA foster home, she loves to be with people and snuggle and she deserves a perfect family and home to call her own! Our animals are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heart-worm tested, and treated if necessary.  Vet references and a home/family visit are required, and an adoption fee applies.  Transport options are available within our area of operation, including Pennsylvania, the tri-state area, and New England. Please note we do not adopt animals into Canada. Visit www.pmarinc.org for more information, and to fill out an application. All of our animals are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heartworm tested and treated if necessary. Story
It's hard to believe that Eli has been in foster in the rescue for OVER A YEAR! Yep, Eli came to us July of 2023, as a 6 month old pup from GA. He had mange, but quickly recovered to make him the handsome brindle he is now. Literally growing up in rescue, he is now about 1 ½ yr old, neutered, fully vetted and micro-chipped. He is a good boy and knows his basics – sit, off, leave it and paw. He listens, wants attention and to play. Eli is good with dogs and kids and is an active boy who loves to play and bounce around. He can have a little bit of stranger danger, but when we are all he knows and he has been with us this long, you can't blame him. All of our animals are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, de-wormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, heart-worm tested, and treated if necessary.  Vet references and a home/family visit are required, and an adoption fee applies.  Transport options are available within our area of operation, including Pennsylvania, the tri-state area, and New England. Story
Hammy is now just over 1.5 years old. He's had a few applications, but they all fell through no fault of his own! This adorable brindle boy is currently in an upstate NY foster home. He loves to play with the resident dogs and doesn’t bother the resident kitty. He also loves kids (5+ in his foster household) and can be a bit bouncy when excited—as he’s still a young boy. Hammy is an overall happy, perfect, silly pup. He is great in his crate, crate- and potty-trained, and already vetted. He will be a fun playmate for a lucky family—please help us find his family! Story
Max and "brother" Bear are a bonded pair. Max was originally adopted from PMAR as a puppy, but when the owner contacted us about returning him due to illness and no longer being able to care for him, they asked if we could also take Bear. We said, yes, because we knew Max was losing the only home he had ever known, so we didn't want him to lose his brother, too. Bear is a little more reserved than Max (who is very outgoing and friendly), but they truly love each other and we want to keep them together. We would like to find them a home with a nice fenced-in yard where they could run and play. Bear is oblivious to cats, but Max is a bit reactive, so a kitty-free home would be best. They seem to get along with other dogs. Both pups are strong and need work on leash manners. They are neutered up-to-date and ready for a home to call their own! Story
Hi there, I’m Johnny Ramone, and I’d love to meet you! I’m a neutered male pit mix, around 4-5 years old, and while I may be visually impaired, I promise I don’t let that stop me from being a sweet, loving boy.I came to Stray Haven in August after being on the run with a few other dogs. Since then, I've been waiting patiently for my forever home, and I’m starting to think it might just be with you!I’ve had the pleasure of making lots of friends while I’ve been here, including a lovely volunteer and her granddaughter. They say I’m their favorite – and I can see why, once you meet me. I’m a charmer! I walk nicely on a leash and enjoy taking strolls, especially through places like Home Central and Hair Designs, where I get to meet all sorts of new people. Everyone I meet loves me, and I even stayed calm when I got distracted by some noisy chickens and a crowing rooster!I’m easy to get along with and I love to show off my good behavior. If you want to meet me and see just how sweet I am, just stop by Stray Haven Humane Society in Waverly during their open hours. No appointment needed – just come by and let’s see if we’re a perfect match!Stray Haven 194 Shepard Road Waverly, New York 14892Hours: Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri 10-5 Sat and Sun 10-4Can’t wait to meet you!Stray Haven Humane Society & SPCA194 Shepard Rd., Waverly, NY 14892(607) 565-2859, www.strayhavenspca.org Open hours:Tuesday-Friday 10am-5pmSaturday-Sunday 10am-4pmClosed on Mondays
