Story
Bubba is an adult neutered male Pit Bull Terrier Mix. He weighs about 65 lbs. Bubba is a quiet, calm and laid back boy. He is good on a leash and is housebroken.   This Path to Home group starts 11/14/24 for 8 weeks. Volunteers For Animals and Orleans Correctional Facility have developed a Dog Training & Fostering Program within the prison that will provide socialization and basic obedience training for the dogs before being adopted. Volunteers For Animals will be pulling dogs from high kill shelters and locally who may be in need of behavioral support to become more adoptable. The dogs will then be transported to Orleans Correctional Facility where they will live with selected inmates who will care for them 24 hours per day for approximately 8 weeks. Each dog will have a crate, bedding, leash, collar, training treats, and food provided by Volunteers For Animals. A certified dog trainer will provide weekly training classes for the dogs and the inmates. The inmates will then work daily to reinforce the formal training with the dogs. Adoption Procedures The adoption process includes an application that is completed by the potential owner. If there are multiple applications on the same animal, the animal will go to the best home for that particular animal - not necessarily the first application. Fees for the Path Home animals are $200 per animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. All of the dogs are current on vaccines, heart worm tested and spayed/neutered. If you would like to be considered for any of the Path to Home dogs, please email us. Please do not call the Shelter regarding Path Home animals - they do not have any information. Email us at info@vol4animals.org regarding this program.  Here is the adoption process:   To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $60 fee for any animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier.   Thank you for considering a homeless animal.November 16, 2024, 7:49 am

We have someone special we'd like you to meet! 😍 Please welcome Sunny! She is a 2 year old pit mix. This happy girl has been living the good life with her foster family for the past few months! Check out what she has to say about her new life! "I really like it here with my foster moms, so far I have learned: ✨I love to watch tv! My favorite shows are the office, true crime, scary, and action movies! ✨My mom says I’m a super chewer, not sure what that means but sounds to me like I’m a super hero of some kind! 💪 ✨Just because I have 3 legs doesn’t mean it slows me down! I’m the fastest dog in the wild Wild West 🏃‍♀️💨! I love to run in the yard, get zoomies in the house, and slide on the wood floors! Sometimes I do bump into things, but foster mom says bumper cars are fun! ✨I’m a fast learner 📚✏️🎓! My trainer even says so! I’m working hard on my manners and doing really good! ✨I’m potty and crate trained! ✨I love HUMANS!! I mean they are kinda goofy looking but I love snuggling, playing, being pet, and spending time with them! My foster mom calls me her shadow! I can even hug them if they let me!! Hugs and Licks, Sunny Bunny 🐰❤️" If your interested in adopting this girl, or just want to learn more information, check out our website!

Meet Lily! Lily is a 3 year old mixed breed pup and was found as a stray. She currently lives in a foster home with both dogs and kids and does great! She’s shown so much patience and gentleness, and has so much love to give! Lily is a playful and cuddly pup, who wants nothing more than a lap to snuggle on and a place where she can sunbath! Lily can sometimes be shy when meeting new adults, but warms up rather quickly! If you are interested in meeting Lily, please send us an email! petstophererescue@gmail.com

Story
Meet Fleur, our sweet 11-year-old lady who weighs around 60 pounds. Fleur is a gentle soul who is both housebroken and crate trained. She loves going into her crate on her own and enjoys sleeping with the door open. 🏡 Fleur is a true sunbather and loves laying out in the sun. Nothing seems to phase her, and she has a calm, couch potato demeanor. 🛋️🌞 She does well on leash and prefers to walk slowly and take in her surroundings. 🐾🚶‍♀️ Fleur gets along well with other dogs and will "correct" if a dog is confrontational. She loves every person she meets and is always excited to make new friends. 🐕❤️ She enjoys rolling around outside in the grass, and you might hear her adorable snores when she sleeps. When she's excited, she hops around like a little bunny, and she has a particular fondness for stuffies. 🧸🌿 Fluer has a mass on her bottom that will be removed during her spay ☺️ If you're looking for a loving, calm, and sweet companion, Fleur is the perfect match for you! 🌟🐾

Story
Debi is a 2-3 year old pitty weighing in around 50lbs of pure sweetness. 🥰 Debi is the HAPPIEST and SWEETEST girl you will ever meet! Her tail is constantly wagging and she has the biggest, most gorgeous pittie smile! She loves everyone that she meets; adults, kids, cats and dogs! Debi LOVES to cuddle on the couch and is always down to do whatever you want, as long as she can be by your side! 💜Debi LOVES the outdoors! 🏔️ She is always up to go out exploring and having new adventures. Debi is crate trained and knows simple commands. Debi was found as a stray in Rochester. She was skin and bones and in desperate need of medical attention when she came to us. 🥺 Debi has an abnormal neurological exam, and walks a little funny. Her doctors believe that she suffered some sort of trauma such as being hit by a car. She is unable to urinate on her own and needs her bladder to be expressed daily. She is also incontinent with feces, but that's nothing a cute diaper can't fix! Debbi can go up to 8 hours without a diaper change! Debi is the most loving and loyal girl and we know the right home is out there for her! She needs an understanding and patient home with someone who is able to manage her medical needs. She will repay you with unconditional love and snuggles for the rest of her days! ❤️

Story
Please contact the Dog Team (dogcoordinator@graspinc.org) for more information about this pet.DOB: 11/1/21  This is Hollie, she's a goofy pitbull terrier female. Hollie is proud to announce that she successfully completed heartworm treatment, and this healthy baby is ready to meet her family! This precious girl has been working hard the last 4 months while recovering: she is crate trained, house broken, groom loving (seriously, she runs into the bathtub), and obedient to commands (like sit, down, stay, paw, wait, OK, and no). Hollie loves training so much that she grasped the basics of loose leash walking on her 3rd ever walk.   Hollie is a confident explorer, and loves many activities, such as breakfast, walking, fetch, snack time, tug, dog play time, dinner, going for a drive, cuddle time, and especially any treat rewarding activity. It’s true, Hollie loves food. Her usually focused face melts during head scratches, and she loves to snuggle up under a blanket.    Hollie’s ideal home will have: assertive human leadership (no first time adopters please), no children, no small animals (including rodents, cats, small dogs), and  explore/try new things with her human.    Her adoption fee is $350    November 6, 2024, 1:39 am
