Story
She's a really good loving dog my sister left her with me when she went to college and I can no longer house her due to moving and having 2 cats she's very loyal and protective sadly she hasn't had very good house training due to me not knowing how to properly care for a pitbull mix I hope she finds a good home that can take much better care of than what I can.

Story
ZZadie is a very sweet and cute female mixed breed dog. She is 2.5 years old and weighs ~65 lbs. Zadie was born on March 4, 2022. She can get spooked easily and can be aggressive with other dogs. Zadie would be best in a home as an only dog. She is house trained and can sit, shake, lay down, and is good with recall. She is young so still has some puppy enthusiasm but also just loves to cuddle. She loves walks and hikes and would be a great family addition. I would not recommend Zadie if you have cats at home as she can have a strong prey drive. Zadie has not had much experience around young kids but has done fine with older kids. She was adopted from the Santa Fe Animal Shelter in Santa Fe, NM. I had a doggy DNA test done on Zadie and she has several different breeds in her. Happy to provide more info if interested.

Story
Frankie is soon to be `paw-roled` from our Paws in the Pen program in partnership with the New Mexico Corrections Department! Each dog is paired with two inmate trainers and enrolled in an 8-week training program that is designed to equip the dog with a nice foundation of training that will help them succeed in their new home. Each of these dogs will go home potty and crate trained with a whole list of cues and basic behaviors; to ensure a successful adoption, we are providing four training sessions to adopters, so you can learn what your dog knows, and an invitation to weekly discounted drop-in classes. These dogs also go home with a biothane leash and collar, 6 months of heartworm prevention, are fully up-to-date on all vaccines and medications, and are spayed and neutered. If you`re looking for your very own New Mexico brown dog, Frankie is your girl. So pretty, with the softest coat, it`s anyone`s guess what combo of breeds makes her as cute as she is. Frankie has done very well in her training, and she loves pets and affection. She is figuring out how to play with other dogs - she loves to be chased, but is a little awkward and unsure with dogs that have big personalities, so she`s still getting the hang of it. She looooooves to ZOOM! She would be in heaven to be able to run a property, play in the water during the summer, and bound through the snow in the winter. Frankie would love to go home with a family who will spoil her rotten with love and adventure.

Story
Marbles in a real looker, with a beautiful steel grey coat and big pointy ears. He`s also got some training under his belt! This good boy appears to be house-trained, and sits politely to get his leash on as well as for treats. A little nervous in the shelter environment and he`s still settling in, he likes to go for walks, and get close for snuggles. Marbles would be an excellent addition to a more active home, that will finish his training, take him on hikes, and cuddle up at night after a day of adventures.

Story
We don`t know about Von`s life before he came to us, but judging by his physical appearance, we can hazard a guess. His teeth are worn down, as if he was kept in a kennel and chewed the metal, his skin and ears are in rough shape, likely from a poor diet as well as being attacked by another dog. If that weren`t enough, he`s also partially deaf and heartworm positive! But despite it all, this handsome boy has been nothing but sweet and gentle with everyone, from strangers to vets, from day one. Von is currently in foster care where he spends his days with a cat and two foster fur siblings. He even does well with children. With a healthy diet, heartworm treatment (performed by us, at no cost to the adopter), a soft bed to sleep on, and a ton of love, Von is sure to have a glow-up for the record books. Reach out today for a meet & greet!
